Man, I am glad I checked in here, I was starting to think it was just me! I added my CSC transfer date, and I haven't heard boo since March. Looks like there is a little cluster of us right around that date still waiting.

Hi all - I am going to have to travel back to Canada at Christmas because of an ailing family member. I have my NOA1 and have already gone for a biometrics appt. Do I just carry the NOA1 with me in my pocket? We will be driving so I don't expect any problems leaving, but they will probably be a pain when I return. Any ideas how I can make it easier? Or am I mistaken in thinking that since it says on the letter that I can travel, they don't mean out of the country?

I recieved a letter for each of us (me and the kids) saying they transfered the case to California for faster processing. Does the biometrics come after the transfer because according to the other timelines they did biometrics before the transfer. Whatever this all means we are going faster right? Also how did you recieve ther appt for biometrics vis snail mail or email? Thanks

Yes, I got my biometrics letter via snail mail before the notice of transfer. In fact, I am pretty sure I had the appointment all done before thetransfer. Good luck!

I applied within 90 days, and it was to Chicago, and got the CSC transfer. Got my Green Card in the mail, back dated to Oct. 10.

Another permanent resident card is born. Did you check to see if it has all of it's fingers and toes (correct spelling and gender)?

I actually grew up in the BC interior as well ... I am sure you have heard of Nelson ... I left Nelson in 1989 and moved to the lower mainland (had to leave after college as there wasn't work in my job career in Nelson) ... I lived in the lower mainland for about 17 years and was living in Langley before I moved here to Illinois in July of this year ....

Oh yeah, I know Nelson. I have been there a few times performing in the Kootenays area (Cranbrook et al) but that was after you left. I orginally moved to Kamloops in 1989 and went to Van in 1999 for more university, lived in Kits and then Marpole (out by the airport).

Looks like we have a very similar timeline! Hope you get approved soon - I only got one other email from them, no touches really, just a note on Oct 9 that they had it, and then Oct 10 they were sending a letter. I often wonder what they are doing with them when you get so many touches.

Once you have your 2 year conditional GC in hand (which should be very shortly) you will not need the EAD ...

I am also from Vancouver, lived there for 5 years and in the BC interior since 1989 before that - I moved to Ontario last year to make travelling to see my fiance easier. It didn't really work - once we applied, I didn't want to cross the border. Are you missing the mountains yet?

Wow, have I been out of the loop. I didn't realize that transfer to CSC was a good thing.

In any case, I got a I-797C notice that my case was transferred dated Sept 21 and I got an email that I would be getting a welcome letter Oct 10. I guess that means I am approved.

However, in Idiots Galore news, I changed my address in August and filled out all the forms and called the centre. I have been getting mail here at my new address, including the request for biometrics with both case numbers for the AOS and EAD news. So, I looked online to see how it was going (this was before I got the welcome email)...

they sent my EAD stuff to the wrong address.

How???!?!?!??!?! They have been sending stuff to me at the new correct address for 2 months!!!!! GRRRR! So I called the centre again and told them the new address again, and of course they have no clue where they sent the stuff. It was probably just a NOA but please people....

Do I even need the EAD anymore? I can't quite figure this all out.... and it seems dumb the AOS gets approved before the EAD.

Don't worry about having the interview before your work authorization. I actually had my interview, recieved my greencard, and they still have not touched my EAD application. I am able to work because imade an infopass apointment to get a temporary work permit.

Rosita, what did you take with you to your appointment? I am heading to an infopass appt tomorrow to talk to them about my EAD - just sent it in with the AOS a week ago and got a job offer that starts within the next 2 weeks so I want to see if I can get the temporary. Any tips? Thank!

Hi - we weren't even married when we opened our joint bank accounts July 2006 at Citizens Bank and I had been over the border something like 4 days. My husband already had one, and we opened 2 more joint ones, and I deposited a check in US dollars I had prepared in Canada. No SSN, I don't even remember showing the guy ID - maybe my passport? They also give their customers free notary service among other things - I would recommed it highly.

I went to the Dr today with my yellow card - no problem. I had a long discussion with the receptionist before I went, she had no idea what I was talking about and asked me to bring the I - 693a if I had it (so I printed it off the USCIS website) and when I got there, they had it already. I was there for 5 minutes, explained to the nurse what had to be done, she got the dr, he took my paper away, wrote it out and gave me a copy and a sealed one. All good. next day appointment and less than 2 miles from my house.

Hi guys - chiming in on the confusion. I am done my AOS stuff except for the vaccination situation. All I got at Medisys in Toronto was a folded yellow card that says "Immunization Record" on it, with my dates and the administiring nurse's signature.. I am guessing that's not the DS 3025 we are talking about from the looks of it.

So am I beating a dead horse here assuming I need to call Medisys????? Grrr!!!!! Would they have stuck it into the DO NOT OPEN ON PAIN OF DEATH envelope the medical exam was in? I only had the damn thing done in March 2006 so I know I don't need them again. Oh, I still have chest X Ray - they didn't take at at the interview and I kept it.

Thanks all - I called the USCIS info line and the guy said send the ar 11 in please, and then the AOS. No need to call and tell them unless there's something pending which there isn't. He also said to put the end date of the I94 on it. Well, let's hope he's right!

And here I told them I was planning to stay at that address for a year. Wonder how they will like that....

I only knew about K1, in K1 you have 90days to get married. If you got married within 90days, then you expired your stay but ur married when it expired, its ok you could send AOS application even your expired.

In your case, r u in K1? did u got married in 90days? do u really want to send off the AOS now before you got a new address??

Then maybe, send your AOS with that address your living in, and then send an AR-11 to USCIS before you totally leave your old address.

Well, its all been going pretty well so far until...

I got a letter in the mail telling me that my Ontario driver's license was suspended for medical reasons....

Long story short, I was sent to a neurologist by an ENT because I was having sinus problems, and he got all into the fact that I had fainted 2 times in the last year ( I am not a fainter btw). This was back in May. Apparently they are legally obligated to report this to the Ministry of Transport, which I totally understand. Great. Too bad he wasn't obligated to tell me he was going to do that, I was driving 2 hours a day to and from work for the next month with no one mentioning to me that I shouldn't be driving. Note - I have only fainted at night after leaping out of bed from a profound sleep, and running upstairs. Oh, and drinking too much wine and doing the same. /sigh

So I get here, I am driving around tra la la, I had gotten my driver's abstract before I left ( which I would like to add was dated AFTER the letter of medical suspension and no where on it does it say anything like that...) and was literally on my way to the driver's license place down here when I checked my mail box and there was the letter of suspension. Well, that puts a kink on things. Means I can't drive my fiance's son anywhere, I can't take my wedding cake in today to get it iced... I could go on. I left a message for the neurologist yesterday and just spoke to him this morning. What a moron. He didn't seem to appreciate that I understand completely that they don't want me to drive. What I DON'T appreciate is that he didn't tell me that at the appointment in May! He wasn't exactly dismissive at the appointment, but I didn't get the feeling I was in any danger and I told him I was moving to the States and he said oh well just see a neurologist when you get there, have them contact the ENT and the info will be in your file... he should have said and oh you shouldn't be DRIVING!

Anyway I kissed up to the doc, he told me he was familiar with these letters and it should be easy to fix, and I will be on my fiance's insurance and its a good kind, so I should be able to get the required tests quickly. How it will work with the Ontario government in terms of how long the processing takes, and how long it takes for the driver's people here to get their information, I don't know. ARRGGGHHH!!!!!

thanks for the info Shauna! I'm not quite sure which POE to use, but yours sounded painless in that they weren't hassling you - just they were confused. scott had issues not related to confusion - just crankiness!

so now i'm torn whether to brave the detroit crossings or to go out of the way and cross at Lewiston where they kinda know us there already.

and have fun re-connecting with the fiance and have a great wedding!

Problem is, I am NOT the new K1, which appeared to be the problem. They were really nice though, let my mom go back to the rv to get a snack which is pretty good, since they hadn't inspected it.. though they never did heh heh. It was my chance to bring down live plants and oranges and I missed it!

I went through my POE at Queenston/Lewiston Weds and guess what? They have already changed the way that they process the K1 and I had to sit there while the poor immigration officer made calls on the phone for an hour, tried to figure out where to stamp my papers.. that kind of thing.

Basically. my parents and I drove down in their RV, told the the guard and she took the passports and sent us inside. We parked and went in, and sat there. They call your name when its your turn. People came and went for a while, and finally when there was no one else, and it had been maybe 20 mins, I finally walked up and said umm... and a young woman said yes, I have yours here. She had been staring at a computer screen the whole time and working her mouse. Anyway I sat down for another long while, and my parents and I watched while she hauled out the big book of all knowledge (the manual I am guessing) and she and another fellow conferred, and then she got on the phone. She went to the phone, the computer, the phone , the computer...this went on for a long time and didn't look too pretty. Anyway she finally called me up, asked me if what was on the form was my new address and did I know where the closest office was? Um yes and no. That's all she asked. Someone else came through at the same time as well, as I saw another K1 paper there, so if that's someone on here, hope yours went faster! Anyway they had a nice debate over what piece of paper to stamp on what side, kept looking at the manual and finally the girl went off to find an admin supervisor. I said to the other guy - they changed the way they processed this recently? He said yup... I said is it some to do with the marriage broker thing? Yup... I siad yes, I think I am close to the tail end of the previous version...so fine, my girl comes back with the admin guy, she has stapled a piece of paper into my visa which she stamps, then he says does she know its one entry only? Yes, I say, so she then with a pen scribbles out what says multiple on the paper, stamps some papers, stamps my passport again and says ok go over there and pay. PAY!!!!

I paid 6 dollars US, and the guy I paid said - just remember whatever you do, after you are married do NOT leave the country. I said yup, I know, thanks. They handed back all 3 passports and we were done.

They didn't ask me or my parents what we were bringing in. In fact, no one talked to my parents at all to ask them the normal questions you get at customs, esp with an RV they always ask about plants and beef. Didn't want to know how long they were staying down. I mean literally they never spoke to my parents at all. I had made a list of things I was bringing as opposed to sending with the movers, no one wanted to see it. Frankly I think they were too freaked out by new changes and tired of looking at my visa to care.

THe worst part of it all had nothing to do with immigration, I - 90 was closed because of flooding, and we had no clue when we crossed. We ended up driving an hour and half south which was the worst direction possible (anyone see pictures of I 88 on the news, you will see what I mean), got turned back, spent the night in a campground (I saw fireflies!), and when we left Thursday the I 90 was still closed, and the road we were on had detours on it, ick. Anyway, got to my brother's outside Boston about 1:30 and my fiance picked me up after work and all was well.

So, be ready to sit. Don't be surprised if they look confused, I guess. My interpretation is that what she saw on the screen was not what she was looking at in the papers. She had all the originals we sent in by the looks of things, when she opened the visa packet, and she didn't do that til she had been looking at her computer for a looooooong time. Good luck everyone! I have to pack up this apartment now as we are moving to another one in a few days!

I did Medisys, and I was there a long time as it was so busy - however they answered their phone and gave me a quick appointment. Dr. was super nice and fast, nurse did a terrible job taking blood and left me with a massive bruise when she pierced the vein.

Vaccinations required also are affected by age. If you were innoculated in 1969 as a kid, you avoid most of them. I had Tetanus and MMR.

Thanks all - it makes me pretty happy that I chose to go the K1 route instead of K3 - I was just reading in another topic that the CO gave someone the gears because in the wedding pictures it looked there were only 8 people at the wedding. Uh... how is that relevant???? (says the person who only invited 17 to hers)
