But if she is already in the states couldn't we just file an adjustment of status off her tourist visa? That way she would still be able to stay in the states while the process is on-going?

My wife and I got married last winter in the states on the fly with a tourist visa and we both returned back to her home country shortly after for employment reasons. Now the job is done and we have decided it's the right time for us to move to the states but she doesn't have citizenship. I'm not sure where to go from here. Should she come here again on a tourist visa and then go for AOS, which would I believe keep her here until the whole process is complete or should she stay put and go through another unknown process that could take longer and keep us apart?
