  1. We just did this for my wifes daughter. Applied for her immigration visa 2 years ago and earlier this year she got a 2 year visitors visa. She visited us last month. She was not asked if she intends to immigrate (that I know of), but I did write an invitation letter in which I explained that she had an active immigration petition and that we would be sure she will return to Russia so as not to jeopardize that petition.

    Thanks NeonRed.

    That is encouraging.

    Kindest regards.

  2. Dear Friends.

Has anyone had ACTUAL experience of (i) filing a Green Card application for a parent, who resides abroad; (ii) that same parent applying for a visitor visa while the Green Card app is pending? (ACTUAL experience, not speculation)

If so: (a) what was the result? (B) if successful, how did he/she handle the question whether he/she intends to immigrate (if it wasa asked)?

    Many thanks.

    Kind regards

  3. Friends.

My Wife (USC) applied for a Family Unification Green Card for her Mother. During the time waiting for the process, we would like her Mother to come visit us; she has visited us 5 times in the past on tourist visa's.

Might she have a problem getting a visa to visit since she has a pending application for a Green Card ?

Has anyone had this kind of experience ?

    Many thanks.

  4. Friends.

Maybe I am being overly optimistic about timing: we just submitted the I-130 for my Mother-in-Law (from Russia) this weekend.

However, she asks about usage and residency in the US after she gets her GC. She (and my Wife) had heard that a green card holder must be present in the USA for at leasat six months out of every twelve months, lest she could then not get the green card renewed when required.

Does anyone have insight? Are there printed regulations about this?

    Many thanks.

    Kind regards,

    Duncan

  5. Friends.

My Wife (recently a USC) is applying for her Mom's GC. The application is complete, and she translated her Birth Certificate proving the relationship with her Mom. The instructions say that any translations must be certified?

What does this mean? She has a friend who is also a Russian-American who can attest to the translation but is there a particular form we should use for the certification?

Seems I remember doing this once before and all it required was a statement signed by a Russian native speaker attesting to the accuracy of the translation.

    Your help is appreciated.

    Kindest regards,

    Duncan and Anna
