  1. hello

my wife has visa interview next month.NVC added FNU (first name unknown) infront of her name. When I asked they said they go by name on passport provided in which surname was blank. How can I avoid this FNU on green card without changing passport.

Note: even my family had same issue when we were immigrating to USA NVC added FNU in front of our name because of no surname. But visa was issued without FNU. EX nvc documents states FNU john smith but visa was issued as given name John surname smith.

I dont know at what stage I should bring this up at interview?? or at CBP or while paying green card fee.

    Thanks

    zak

  2. The whole process is a painful waiting game, if it helps any, I waited 9 months to get an interview letter. Whereas others who filed after me in same local field office were all done by the end of summer. Every case is different, I know all too well how much it sucks to be left in the dark, waiting without any updates, but I am sure you will hear something soon. The excitement will hit you and then the stress of the interview will creep up on you shortly before the date and then you will be buying hair dye to cover up all the grey hair this process has caused you. Then one day it will all be over and you will never have to worry about dealing with immigration again :)

    thank you

  3. I did a small research by looking at the status of 1000 cases around my case number. looks like 10 to 12 percent have the similar status as ours, Case received on xxxxx. I am thinking all these cases were hold because of name check or some further checks. I think it might take about 6 months to see any movements. I tried contacting my local senator and he said the same thing, my case is 3 month old and local field office is taking more than 5 months and I have to wait few more months to put an enquiry, I think we just have to wait couple more months and see what happens. :).

    thanks

  4. If the background checks takes too long than the normal processing time what can I do. I have to bring my wife to USA and F2A waiting time is too long, that's I am becoming impatient. what action can I take and after what period of time?.Is there any law where it prohibits USCIS to keep the case pending after certain period of time.
