  1. I have been on AP a little over a month. my case has been updated 3 times. how many times have your case has been updated since December?

It was idle for some time and then they start updating it daily since I contact my senator. It has been idle for the last four weeks now. If you don't mind me asking, what was the reason that they put your case in AP status? Did you provide them with the documents they request if that's what they ask? Thanks for the info and Good Luck.

  2. i think AP for all countries are like that though not just Ethiopia. i been watching a few and some were in AP well over 2 years. im not sure how the system works for AP. wonder if you just get thrown in a stack and they work on the load daily or something. wish i knew. i would just keep sending them emails once a month. sooner or later their gonna have to make a decision!

    Thanks a lot!

  3. I did a quick google search and im coming up with nothing. no one in AP for Ethiopia. I wonder if your spouse can make an appointment with them? I know they do them a certain day during the week. have they already done so?

I went back home a couple of months ago. We went to the embassy, however, they told us that there is no one we can talk to in person about this issue. We were told we can submit our request in email to addisiv at state.gov. The reply was obvious....we need more time. It's a complete ignorant, RACIST reply. I know for fact that if I were from U.K. or some "developed" EU member country, they would have approved our request in NO TIME. Anyways, it is what it is. Back to reality......unfortunately

  4. yea vent away! 6 months? that's crazy. I wonder if in the AP section are there anyone from Ethiopia on there? ill have to check it out and see. the AP is literally the black hole of this whole process since they really don't have a deadline date. and we all know when there is no deadline anything goes. I can search around to see if I come up with anything and ill let ya know. but until then vent away. im here atleast

Thanks a lot! GOD BLESS YOU. I wonder if there is anyone here from Ethiopia who contacted a family-immigration lawyer for similar case.

  5. OH yea I remember now. that's awesome! are you ready for the interview? if you need help or got questions ask away . we hope for a smooth interview and only few questions asked! lol

hey no AP knowledge but I can understand how it can take a toll on your two. you got in AP for not showing enough proof am I right? just wondering why it was for AP?

The AP was due to the fact that they need "more" pictures and "more" evidence of communication. We provided all the requested documents a week after the interview. It has been six months since then. It's like a black hole. I'm really TIRED of waiting. And it seems this is a better place to vent.

  6. Hello Everybody,

Just wondering if anyone has gone through "Administrative processing". Our spouse visa application has been on "AP" status since December 2015. I have tried different channels, to no vail. I have contacted the consular office several times. They replied back that they need more time citing case overload. I have contacted my senator two months ago. The Senator office contacted U.S. embassy in Ethiopia and told me that they will contact me once they get reply from the embassy. I'm still waiting on their reply. This process took a toll on us. It's very frustrating and stressful. My observation regarding the delay is that it is the result of illegitimate, discriminating, unfair, and improper implementation of the United States laws on immigration by the U.S. embassy in Ethiopia. Has anyone consulted a lawyer about similar issue? Can any one shed some light on this? Appreciate all your replies.

  7. hey all we got stuck with his medical. said his X rays didn't come back right. so he did 3 days of testing at the end of December and they said 2 months. I looked it up on VJ looks like its gonna take exactly 2 months for the results. since he has no symptoms the results are pretty much going to come back negative. but he has all his paperwork and will be heading there Thursday either they will do the interview and wait for results or tell him to reset the interview after the results.. we are prepared either way.. he will be taking everything! just incase..

we were wating for march 21 for him to come anyways to get the 10 year green card so it put no damper in our plans anyways. so first week of march we should get results then continue..

but ill let ya know what happens Thursday !

Wish you the best on the interview. God bless you!

  8. Sorry to here they issue u a DT (Denied Temp). if you don't mind me asking what evidence did you bring to your interview, and what evidence they was looking for that you did not bring to meet their satisfaction. it crazy to here that 15 different interviews was DT for lack of enough evidence. just how much evidence one must bring to a interview (research time).. :protest:

Sorry guys for my late reply, I'd a busy day. OK, here is the scoop. I received email from the U.S. Consulate in Addis two weeks before our interview date. Here is part of the email...

    Requirement

Please find the following important steps in advance of the interview date:

Based on U.S. law, not everyone who applies is qualified or eligible for a visa to come to the United States. Under U.S. law, many factors could make an applicant ineligible to receive a visa. If the applied visa is family-based petition representing a bona fide relationship as required by the Immigration and Nationality Act, one of the requirement to be eligible for the visa is to provide sufficient proof of the relationship which the burden of proof lies on the applicant. Evidence of family relationship, can be but not limited to

    - photos of you with the petitioner over a period of years

    - money transfers from petitioner

    - correspondence (communication via text, viber records, emails, letters etc.)

    - phone bills and records of calls

    - Etc.

At the time of interview, the consular officer determined that the evidence in support of the claimed relationship was sufficient to establish eligibility for a visa. Therefore, you need to bring any proof of relationship you have as one of the requirement to establish eligibility of a visa. In addition, if you have not already submitted original documents of the following to NVC (National Visa Center) please bring them along with the photocopy for the interview.

    - Valid Passport(s)

    - Adoption decree (s) if applicable

    - Marriage certificate if applicable

    - Evidence of Financial support

    - Death Certificate(s) if applicable

    - Divorce Certificate(s) if applicable

    - Police certificate(s) if applicable

    - Court Records (if applicable)

    - Medical Examination Information

    - The Appointment letter

    - Birth certificate(s)

Applicants must also present two 5cm x 5cm color photographs taken in the past 30 days. Photos are required of all applicants regardless of age. Print Your Full name on the back of each photograph.

    Specifications:

    - Photographs must be glossy, untouched, and on a white or off-white background.

    - The subject shall be shown in full frontal view, with the applicant facing the camera directly, with full head, from top of hair to bottom of chin, from the hairline side to side, and with the eyes wide open.

    - It is preferable that the ears be exposed.

    - The dimension of the facial image must be about one inch (33 mm) from the chin to the top of the hair, and should cover 50% of the photograph.

    - The photograph should measure 2 inches by 2 inches (50 mm square) with the head centered in the frame.

    - The photograph must be free of shadows and must not contain any marks, splotches or discolorations.

    - Eyeglasses must be worn if normally used by the applicant.

    - Applicants should have their photos taken without head covering of any kind. Photographs with heads covered are only acceptable when the presentation of photos without a head covering would conflict with the applicant's religious practices. A photograph depicting a person wearing a head covering must show enough of the face so as to establish identity.

    - A photo depicting a person wearing a traditional facemask or veil that conceals portions of the face is not acceptable.

    - Airbrushing or other alterations to make the face appear more attractive will not be accepted.

    - Photographs of photographs will not be accepted.

    - Printed digital photographs will not be accepted.

    - Photographs of applicants in military or other uniforms, or wearing sunglasses will not be accepted.

    Please refer to http://ethiopia.usembassy.gov/photo_requirements.html

We gathered all but not limited to the above listed documents. We thought it was "more than enough", but didn't bother compiling them.

Just to mention, we have a record of our communication from Viber, Vonage, Rebel, Messenger, Regular phone....

Anyways, we are going to compile more documents of the same category as listed above.

We wish every one of you a GOOD LUCK in your interviews. We will keep you posted.

  9. We had our interview today at the U.S. Consulate in Addis. There were a lot of people for interview today as they cancelled all the interviews for tomorrow(dec 23rd) and rescheduled them for today(Dec 23rd Offices are closed for a Muslim holiday in Ethiopia). The waiting room was super-packed. There were two windows dedicated for IV interview. We did our interview around 9 AM. All of us (around 15) were "denied temporarily" due to 221 (g). Basically, asking for more evidence. I am sure the incident happened in California a few weeks ago has caused all this. So, we will go from here and provide them "more evidence." I am sure you can learn what 221 (g) means if you google it. Buckle up and Good Luck to Ya'll.

  10. It was the simplest interview of the day as honey described. Appointment was 9:15 but managed to enter building at 7:40. Appointment time doesn't work here. First come first served rule. The waiting room was full of peoples as honey arrived.

First question was do u have a wedding picture...then looked some of them roughly & proceed to next questions. ..

How long u been in relationship?

    How it begun

    How u communicate?

Then CO said congratulations and told to collect visa next week from DHL office.

Honey carried a lot of evidence copy of FB & viber chat, letters, postcards ,western union receipt , pictures. But the guy didn't ask any of these except photo.

CO returned original documents & kept passport, medical & police certificate.

    Thanks for the info.

  11. Got approved last week & was told to pick up visa this week. Still nothing heard. How long it takes to get visa in hand?? I'm lost in the middle of ocean!

Congratulations that you got approved. As it is a holiday season, they may adjust their working hours. As a result, it may affect the "normal" processing time. You are almost there . . . Hang in there . . .

  12. Good Monday morning everybody,

    Just letting you know guys that I received a reply from the US embassy in Addis for my email that I sent them back in September. Back then, I ask them what the hold up was. This is part of the reply they sent me;

"According to our records, we have not yet received the approved petition from the National Visa Center (NVC). In the meantime, you can contact NVC to inquire about the status of the petition. Please be informed that immigrant visa cases are processed and scheduled for interview by National Visa Center (NVC). The applicant will receive an instruction packet and appointment letter from NVC. "

My assumption was once your case is approved, NVC will send it to the respective US consulate and the consulate will schedule your case for interview. . . . I guess I'm wrong

FYI: My CC date is 5/27/2015

  13. no sorry I didn't. people said they stopped by there and all they told them was to wait, and even my husband went there and they said don't come back til you have your interview so I don't know I just didn't feel like crying in front of anyone hahahah. im bad at crying when I get mad so yea I saved them the tears. and yes I enjoyed my time of course! we lived under the same roof, same time zone, ate same food ect. so it was priceless. ill be going back in a couple months if nothing clears up and maybe ill be mad enough to actually go there and yell. but another thing that kept me from going is because april people got interviews so im thinking this month may and next month june CCs. but that's only my guess. but we shall see what happens.

    That's what I'm thinking as well . . . Hope we'll get our interview schedule soon . . . crossing my fingers . . .

  14. hey everyone hope all is well. looks like they did april if im not mistaken and it looks like on the 14th? im just going through the post today I was in Ethiopia with hubby for a couple weeks so took a break lol .. well lets hope this month brings good news!!

Hope you'd enjoyed your stay in Ethiopia. Did you stop by the US Embassy in Addis and ask some info regarding the scheduling or related info.

    Thanks,
