    July 16, 2015 Interview @ Federal Plaza

after the interview, we were given a paper with 4 possible outcomes: request for additional documentation, case being held due to background checks, case being rescheduled for another interview, and the following one that was "ours":

"Your case is being held for file review in order to prepare a decision. You will be advised by mail as to a decision on your application. No additional information is necessary from you at this time, however, if upon further review, additional information or evidence is required, you will receive a notice in the mail. Please respond to any requests in a timely manner. Failure to do so will result in denial of your application. Please allow 60 days from today's date before making an inquiry on your case."

it's been 43 days, we are still waiting!

  2. It's been 28 days since my interview (7/16), case online still says "ready to schedule interview" since February so they obviously do not update cases online anymore... no text, no email, no letter, no news whatsoever... Yet on the statistics I found the average wait time for all offices in the US is around 14 days, 15 days in NYC, and many many many people have received a positive answer after only a few days...I'm starting to freak out a little...

has Anyone had their interview at the NYC office (federal plaza) recently?

    thx

  3. Hi,

my wife and I had our interview this morning.

we arrived an hour early and it started 30 minutes late.

The agent was very nice. He swore us in before we sat.

he asked us if we had more things to add to the file: we gave pictures, travel itineries, hotel bills, joint lease, last rent payment, gym membership...

he asked us a few questions to my wife about me, my parents, my job, nothing crazy. how we met too.

then he asked me the Yes/No questions that are at the end of the I-485 file.

He also made me check the info on the file (if my name

was spelled correctly, if my ssn was right, etc...)

he gave us a letter with 4

possible outcomes on it which were basically:

    1) need asditional documentation

    2) case held due to background checks

    3) case held for file review in order to prepare for a decision. no need to do anything, wait for decision or rfe in the mail.

    4) case rescheduled for another interview

only the outcome 3 was checked.

He made a copy of my passport and my wife's ID, gave it back to us and that was it. no stamps, nothing, and je didnt ask for my EAD or I-94 either.

I wonder if that means that I can kiss the same day approval goodbye...

  5. Hey everyone, just checking on who's waiting! Making sure you are all still sane ? it's kind of hard through this process.

Funny fact, I received a text message from USCIS this past saturday that my card had been "delivered to me". LOL. It was delivered on April 20th! 2.5 months later they're sending texts.

I bet these are automatically generated! I thought it was funny to receive a text from USCIS.

Well, hope you guys had a great 4th of July weekend!

Haha, they seem to be behind in terms of updating cases online too! my interview is on 7/16 but online it still says "case is ready to be scheduled for interview"... I hope that if we get approved quickly they will update it quickly as well!

Also, flying back to JFK after 2 months in France with the advance parole was the easiest thing in the world: after the usual passport check and fingerprints check, they just take you to another room, there were a few other immigration agents and other people waiting. They took my passport, called my name less than 5 minutes later, and gave it back to me!

Good luck to everyone with the rest of the process!

  6. update!

    I got my interview date!

Weird thing though: I haven't received any mail or text yet and my case hasn't been updated online either. But my wife got the official letter in the mail today:

February 4th 2015 : case ready to be scheduled for an interview.

June 16th 2015: letter received (it says notice date June 10th on it)

July 16th 2015: interview at federal plaza (NYC office)

    finally :)

  7. update!

  8. hi, I have a few questions for those who used their advance of parole to return to the US:

In a month, I will be travelling back to New York from France, with an Advance of Parole.

    - Is it necessarily going to be a long wait at the custom in a different line/different room than people who enter with an ESTA, or other visas? Or is it possible that the agent will just look at my papers and let me go through quickly?

    - If they take me to a different room and I have to wait for a couple hours before I'm out, what will happen to my luggage that will have spent hours on the carousel and will not have been picked up ? (that's the part I'm actually very worried about, I don't want my stuff to disappear...)

    thanks!

  9. Just wait ;)

Someone in the NYC office got his itw date on May 21st and it was scheduled on June 22nd. he was ready to be scheduled for interview as of January 13th. This means they are working on cases arrived way later than August 2014.

On the other hand, I am ready to be scheduled for interview as of February 4th, 3 weeks later than that guy, I "should" have got my itw date around mid may and the interview around mid june and still no news (which works our perfectly for me since i hot tired of waiting and went back to France on May 1st until July 7th ^^)

This process is a mystery, trying to figure out dates and stuff won't get yiu anywhere, just wait, it'll work out eventually, and keep in mind that some people not married to US citizen wait years, even decades!

  10. For those waiting for AOS in the New York City office:

Someone on this forum was "ready to scheduled interview" as of 1/13/15 and they got the interview date on 4/21/15 (scheduled for 5/22/15 I think, it's always one month later anyway). This should give you an idea of the wait time left.

I am "ready to schedule interview" since 2/4/15, so I "should" have received my interview date 8 days ago, but still nothing...

Also, can someone please explain this to me:

Field Office Processing Dates for New York City NY as of: March 31, 2015

Form / Form Name / Processing Timeframe:

I-485 / Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status / August 16th 2014

it was posted on May 12th (https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processingTimesDisplay.do)

  11. Hi Seth, sorry! I've been driving from Canada since last night and haven't really checked here over the last few days.

I would put US, because you are living in the US one way or another. France is your citizenship country but you don't live there! When they ask our residency on the adjustment of status we put US, so this should be the same! I hope you could see this on time!

    Hi,

thanks a lot! everything went fine, I was just a little stressed put for no reason, I could have put any country nothing would have happen on my way out from the US, the un will start when I use the AP to enter again when I come back for my interview :)

  12. If you have the advance parole it allows you to go and come back already 'paroled', most people don't have a problem from what I read around the internet. If you follow your cases online you'll be able to see when they schedule your interview and come back in time.

I'm checking in for my flight, they ask "country of residence... since i'm not a "legal permanent resident" yet, should I say France?

    Hi,

I'm about to leave the US to see my family and I'll come back for the interview. I intend to take with me everything from USCIS obviously, notification, advance of parole, EAD card... Is there something a need to do, or anything I need to fill out before leaving the US? I understand that they spend a little more time on your case once you re enter, but leaving should be no different...

  14. Thanks.

You are right, these dates on the USCIS website are not to be trusted, someone who was "ready to schedule for interview" since January 13th just got his date for May 22nd. I've been at that stage since February 4th so I should get my interview around mid June...

I'm about to schedule a trip back home then. Do you think it's safe to leave until July and just take a quick round trip to the US to take the interview once I know when it is ?
