So...
I have a expired GC and the 18months extension letter probably like everyone here by now. Sadly I lost my wallet (GC included today).
Should I take the same steps to request a new one the same way if my GC was valid or the right way is wait for the new card? Anyway already been in this situation?

"No", I don't have to stop working or "No", the receipt notice arriving by standard mail is not enough to go back to work?
-
So we have to stop working until we receive the receipt notice in the mail if the validation of our GC already expired?
Will the receipt notice give us the documentation that allow us to be working again?
-
Get a mail from USCIS saying they receive my paperwork on 09/20
“Your case has been accepted and routed to the USCIS Nebraska Service Center for processing”
In the same mail they say I should receive via standard mail within 7-10 days the Receipt Notice (Form I-797)
A month went by and I didn’t receive any I-797 yet and in November by GC expires.
1) It’s normal that kind of delay?
2) Where can I get more info about my situation since I call USCIS and wait for 3h and no one answers, and the Receipt Number in the email I receive from USCIS when try to run it say is invalid?
3) What should I do about my work situation since my GC ends in 11/01 and I don’t have a I-797 so I’m guessing I can’t keep working until i receive the form in the mail? -
Silly Me! Why didn't I think about googling for a reliable source of that information before I posted here? Oh wait... I did... (...)
-
And where can I double check that info?
Here I didn't find nothing :/ -
I was checking a YT video and there, they say F1 visas don't have a background checking, can someone confirm or deny that information? If I can get a source will be great
Thanks! -
Like I said, with me I only need to show my card and my passport, but I had my marriage certificate and the other papers (just in case, but I don't even have to show them)
-
You must be thrilled about your AoS approval. Congratulations.
Thanks you! Was nice finally seeing it approved in the website and I already receive my green card in the mail. The weird thing is, we never went to a interview... Why was that? O.o
-
And my AOS was approved yesterday
-
I think you meant CBP Officer though.
Exactly,
No way to edit the post I think, so hope ppl see your post.
-
With the AP and EAD approved (AP/EAD Card in my hand) but with the AOS still being process, I decide go to Europe for 12 days before I start working in the US.
My experience with the TSA when I get back in to the country was a good one.
I went to the Visa/Visitors line, when was my turn I give my passaport and card (no letters or marriage certificate), after processing my info and fingerprints, the TSA agent ask me to follow him.
We walk around 30 feet, he told me to sit in some chair that they have there and wait for him (other people are there too).
After around 5 minutes he brought back my documents, gave them to me and told me I can go.
So in the end, was a pretty good experience, I had to wait, but not a long period of time (the ORD was not all that busy) and now I have a parole "stamp" in my passaporte with the validation of a year that says AOS.
So for all the others that are thinking about leave the US because of a emergency or for vacation, put in consideration my experience, I can say it was a painless experience come back to the country.
Some factors like, get a nice TSA agent, arrive to ORD in a not busy time and have all the paperwork in order probably help with my experience.
Hope this share can help others, like many others posts here in the forun help me. -
Thanks everyone for the replies.

Hello everyone.
After getting married I take care of the AOS, AP and EAD. I already get my card with the AP and EAD together. My AOS have a RFE.- I will go on vacations to my country for 10 days. When I come back the only thing I have to present is the security to get in the country again is my Employment Authorization Card (I-512 Advance Parole) and passport?
- Do I have to bring my marriage certificate too?
- Just walking on the street instead of using my passport I can now use the AP/EAD card as a way to identify myself?
-
Hello everyone.
Since my question is relate to this topic, I will leave the question here instead of making a new post.

You can ask for one because is the LAW!!!
https://secure.ssa.gov/apps10/poms.nsf/lnx/0110211530
They don't have to give you one because they think you need one or not. A country have laws and they in the SS just have to follow them, like any other citizen.
You need SSN to take a drive licence, the letter for SSN was nice to have to make proof of address too, and I need that one to join my wife bank account.
-
Ok. paperwork done, ready to send
-
Thank you guys for the replies
-
We went to SS after we get married to change out names, but the information I receave is that before I change my name with the SS I have to change the name related to all the visa paperwork, other way when they try to run the new name will not match my Visa paperwork, since will have my old name on it, is that correct?
-
Ok. One thing that is wierd is that our marriage certificate don't have the new names, only the old ones, is that normal? (the information I get is that the name change is done in the SS)
