  1. Hi all,

I sent in all IV/AOS document back in May and received a checklist on 6/29 for missing IV (due to website technical issue).

I paid the IV fee again on 6/29 and completed DS-260 on 6/30.

Between the month of June and July, I called NVC at least 5 times, and everytime I called, I was told to wait 30 days for DS-260.

So I waited about 30 days and called in today, and was told that I was missing the police certificate!! (which I sent in back in May)

I did not expect such news and asked for a supervior, who said she will go looking for that document and give me a call back hopefully next week.

So now my case is officially in "administrative processing"...I was wondering if anyone has similar experience. What should I expect from this special process? Just to prepare for the worst, I have my husband in Japan re-issuing a new police certificate. But I would like to hear if anyone hear has gone through the admin processing and how did the process go? Would it be worth it to send in another certificate before the supervisor call me back?

Also, I am curious if the document was overlooked because Japanese police certificate comes in a sealed, brown envelope? Given the sheer volume of document the NVC received, I wouldn't be surprised if they overlooked it because it because it's a not-so-conspicuous document lol.

    Thanks in advance!

  2. The 1st time you paid was it online? Or did you send a check? That nvc cashed but never input online? If you sent a check how long did it take for the iv bill to finally show invoiced online so you could pay it again the 2nd time online? Im assuming that is what happened in your case. I wish you best of luck you're almost done. God bless

I paid it by mail and it was delivered on June 5th. The next day I sent out the check, the online portal was fixed. NVC never input it online and the status was never changed to PAID so I paid online again.

Whatever happens, just need to stay positive! :luv:

  3. Hello everyone,

I don't mean to spam everyone but I think it is very important to spread some positive energy here.

We are all in this together, the technical issue mess. But I am sure one day we will look back at this journey and agree that time likes this really test our characters.

I just got a checklist this morning for the IV fee, which I paid in early June. I sucked up and paid the fee again. But hey, the upside is, no other document issues!

Just want to encourage everyone to stay positive, keep trying, and never forget why we applied for the visa for in the beginning. (F)(L)

  4. Hello everyone! Our DS261 was reviewed by the NVC on May 14, 42 days after I completed it. The NVC sent our IV Fee invoice yesterday but couldn't access their site for the ds260.

Hello! I had my DS-261 reviewed over the phone on 5/14. Today I received an email confirmation and IV invoice but cannot pay for IV on the website. Maybe it has to do with the "known technical difficulties"?

  5. If you know your documents were delivered on 5/11, most likely it will be your scan date. You will get an email in a few days.

First time after our documents were delivered we got an e-mail on about 6th day confirming our scan date as the date of delivery. Second time we were sending documents again responding to the check list. We got an e-mail in 2 days confirming our scan date as the day of delivery.

Our IV fee wasn't invoiced at the time the NVC got our documents, but in couple of weeks it got invoiced.

    I hope it helps.

Thank you for your reply! It really helps :luv:

  6. I had one of my friends translate the papers because I felt funny sending in papers I translated and saying I was competent to translate haha. But yes, you can translate them and attach a statement saying everything is true and accurate. And no they don't need to be notarized. I just got a case complete without problems with my translations.

Thank you for this information! I guess translation + statement will be good enough, then.

  7. Hi all, happy to join this group! Just paid the AOS fee and submitted the DS-261. Currently waiting for husband's police record from Japan, which will be available next week. Feeling very positive so far about the NVC journey :dancing:

I have a question about translation - can he just translate the document with a statement stating that everything is true/accurate? I was wondering if we need to have the papers notorized...

  8. current income is what matters but unless you have a previous w2 that shows you make over the poverty guidelines, you need to use the I-864.

Hello NLR, my current income and my income last year (2014) are both above the poverty guidelines. For last year, I have both the tax return copies and W-2 copies. I also filed tax for the past 3 years.

I think I can file I-864EZ but just want to make sure that current income is what matters as my income in 2012 and 2013 do not meet the poverty guidelines.

  9. Finally... the good news after 47 minutes of wait.. we got our invoice number. :)

tried login but cant select anything...

Hello, maybe give the system some time? With my case and invoice number I was able to log in on the website to pay the AOS fee and fill out DS-261 form.

Hey guys, just an update: I called NVC today to se if I could ge my case number. She said that they received my case on April 16 (which was my birthday btw :goofy: ). They do not have my case number yet. She said call back next week or the following week and maybe they will have my case number. Se also said it takes 4 weeks for the case to be processed and put into the system. What does it mean "put in the system"?

That means assigning you the case number :)

  10. ayumi1486 - I understand the impatience! I called today, but the recording told me to call back later because of the high volume of calls.

I'm excited for you! Your NOA2 is only one day before mine, so maybe my case was received as well! My plan is to call again on Friday. I'll try calling around the same time of day that you called.

    Hi kkg325,

Thank you! Did you received a notification from USCIS that your case was sent to NVC? Mine was on 4/8. If not, no need to worry as not everyone gets notified when USCIS sent your case out.

We got the NOA2 on 04/06

And are now waiting for the transfer to USCIS, the case is still at NSC

Did any of you had a success to get the case 'pushed' over to NVC?

Or, what was the average for the status to change from APPROVED to SET TO DEPARTMENT OF STATE?

    TIA

Mine took about 8 days from NOA2 to Sent to NVC (3/30-4/8). But I read that some people do not get notified when USCIS sent your case out.

  11. Current income is what matters. As long as you make over the poverty line now, you'll be alright. My petitioner didn't make over the poverty line on 2013 nor file taxes for the most recent returns (2013 at that time for us) for our case, we got approved without a joint sponsor because he made more than the poverty guide line now( May, 2014 - now). Of course, we followed the instruction by NVC to write the reason why he didn't file taxes for the most recent tax return. No checklists. We used the basic form (I-864) so I cannot say that from my own experience but I-864EZ should work out for you.

Thank you for your response!! I see that you are also applying from Japan - nice to meet you!

I think I will go with I-864 EZ as I filed all past three years.

  12. Hi all! Really appreciated that this thread is in place...it really helps me easing my mind!

I decided to have my husband visit while waiting for the NVC process. Husband is Japanese and on VWP. Entry/transfer point is Honolulu, which already gets tons of Japanese tourists. Have NOA 2 and return ticket ready to present to the officer.

He's going to transfer at Honolulu and then fly to San Jose. But he has to pass immigration in Honolulu.

    Will keep you guys updated!!

    Entry point: Atlanta

    Applicant is Japanese

I can't say how thankful I am for this thread. We applied to the NVC two weeks ago and, just yesterday, flew to the US on a tourist visa. We spoke with the agent that we were in town to visit family and do a small wedding. She didn't ask anything about our application at the NVC and said have a nice vacation.

Hi jshoe1984, my husband is Japanese and will visit in May. Finger crossed that he can pass the border (in Honolulu) without any hassle!

Did the applicant bring any documents/NOA 2/ties to Japan?

  13. Ayuma1486 & Rachel 23: We have similar timelines. My NOA2 was 3/31 and my file was sent to NVC on 4/10. After your file was sent to NVC, how many days did it take for NVC to receive the file and for you to receive your case number? I haven't called NVC yet for the case number, and I'm wondering when I should plan to make my first call. I'm so happy that this process is moving now! It was torture waiting for NOA2.

    Congrats Rachel23!!

kkg325 - I think I will give it sometime and call around the last week of April, just because I don't want to go through all the holding and stuff... But that's just my choice. I have been way too stressed just waiting for the NOA2 so I want to relax a little bit now. But if you do choose to call, I think at least give it 1-2 weeks after 4/10? That's just my take on it, though. My reasoning is if rachel23 got it so soon, then ours probably won't be so far. :dancing:

Also know that each case differs so no need to freak out...at least that's what I am telling myself. We've already come this far!!

  14. It shouldn't matter and you can opt to just send 2014 tax transcript. Only last years is required, previous 3 is optional.

Hi faisalk! That's what I think, too. Since I filed my 2014 tax via paper instead of electronically, IRS won't process the transcript until mid-late June. So I think I will send in a copy of my tax return plus W-2s for 2014. I am also thinking about sending some current pay stubs to demonstrate my current income :dancing:

  15. Did you work as a student back then?

If not, you can just put $0.00 on 2013, 2012 Tax return but make sure you explain in a statement why you did not file. In this case, you did not file because you were a student and didn't have an income. Were you dependent when you were student? i.e. parents claiming you as a Son/Daughter, you can use that as an evidence of exemption. That's what I did but I haven't case complete yet, expecting it to be around next next week. I have no checklist so far. it's been 19 days since scan date for me.

Hi mcstorres! Best of luck to you for that case complete!

I actually worked and filed in 2012 and 2013 and had some income, but the numbers do not meet the poverty line. My parents did not claim me.

My 2014 and current incomes DO meet the requirement so I think it should be ok?

So at least I will have something to put down on the forms! I am still waiting for my case number since it was shipped over to NVS on 4/8...probably need to wait a little more to call... :clock:

  16. Hi all....so happy to see all these approvals! Mine was just approved on 3/30 and sent to NVC on 4/8.

    I have 2 questions:

    1. My husband is currently in Japan - Will NVC send all documents to me (my U.S. address or my email) or his address in Japan? For the record I did put down my email on G-1145 form.

    2. My income in 2014 and current income meet the Poverty guideline but not in 2013 and 2012 (was a student back then). Will this be an issue during the AOS process?

    Thank you all!!
