  1. Hi and thank you in advance...

Im confused as exactly what DS-160 online form has to be filled out. After obtaining our NVC case number I went to the visa check page " Visa Status Check " and its talking about an Immigrant visa.

    U.S. Department of State
    IMMIGRANT VISA APPLICATION
    Ready

Another instruction page I've found helpful says to:

Complete Form DS-160, Online "Nonimmigrant" Visa Application.

Nonimmigrant is for temporary stay and immigrant is for permanent residency. So why am I being told to do a NONimmigrant? I need to be 100% sure before starting this... Can anyone shed some light on what I am suppose to do?

  2. I called to get our case number and invoice ID number from the NVC today and this evening I am getting the below message when I attempt to sign on:

    "Summary Information
Please be advised that the case that you have attempted to access is not eligible for further processing by the National Visa Center at this time. Please contact the National Visa Center if you believe that you have received this message in error."
Does this have to do with their recent system malfunction? We just received the case number, so I don't understand why it is not eligible for further processing.

Im guessing, maybe your case is still in transition from one place to the other.... It has not arrived at the embassy yet? I am no expert but it seems logical. I am only guessing, maybe have to wait a while and keep trying every day...

  3. Okay here is an update but I have some questions about what to do next.

I called NVC the other day, got our case number. it took me about 40 tries, then a 45 minute wait time. They verified our info and I wrote the case number down. They said I was to go to the consulate website of the Philippines and click "contact us". They said our visa is already there and we need to do an interview. I'm a little confused as to what to do from here. Here is a list of things I "think" I/we need to do... If I missed something or am wrong please let me know...

    - Guessing she (Ailyn) has to apply for the visa now?

    - I found an "embassy letter" with instructions

    - DS-160? An online form. But it says "non-imagrant" This is what confuses me. Then she prints the completed form for the interview.

    - Passport ( we did this already) NBI and police clearances. Are the clearances from the passport still good if only a few months old? Or do we need to get her new clearances?

    - schedule the Interview. The medical 1 week before

    - Book a one way flight for her to get to Manila

    - Pay for the Interview. Is this something I can do with my credit card online for her???

    - take receipt of Interview payment to the medical

    - She takes the Evidence of financial support (Form I-134, Affidavit of Support) to the interview? The one I filled out from the I-129 visa packet? or an updated one?

    - Relationship evidence? Can this also be the same as from the I-129 visa packet that was submitted?

    - New "passport type" photos too? or same as from packet?

    - will she need to take any more information from my bank?

Im sorry I have so many questions. I want to make sure we do this right, the first time, so we do not have to re-schedule the Interview. Any help would dearly be appreciated!

Thank you so much in advance

  4. Sorry if I am in the wrong forum.

June 10th 2015 our K-1 (I-129F) was approved and sent to NVC. The I-797 (assuming NOA2) states will take from 2 to 4 weeks and if I do not hear anything after 30 days to e-mail: NVCINQIURY@state.gov

Have done so with no word there. Nothing in regular mail either. Is this normal after what the form has said? What should I expect from this point on?

    Thanks in advance,

    Dave

  5. Yeah man I hear you on that! Just breathe deep, crack a beer, and take your time. The more you rush the greater the chance for errors. You got this dude.

    LOL you got it :)

No beer until I'm finished, almost there. Having coffee at the moment. Finished the I-129f packet, had copies made, I'm getting the 2 copied packets put together now... Ready to be mailed out the original in the morning after I get a check. When I finish putting the other 2 copies together, then I'm haven a few beers LOL... It been a LONG day :)

    Thanks for you support,

    Dave :)

  6. Awesome and THANK YOU so much... maybe I'm overly tired but started to worry on the first signature... Just trying to do everything right the first time. Hope I'm not over doing things...

I'll get them signed, go buy some clips, have to make copies, get a check, then mail... Gawd it's been a little daunting for me... I wanted to get it mailed out today but running out of time so probably will be tomorrow.

    Dave :)

  7. Hi all,

I'm almost complete and started to sign what needed to be signed for the K-1, I-129f packet. I thought I read somewhere you sign your full name. Maybe I'm mistaking this for another read. However I cannot find it anywhere.

Am I suppose to sign my full legal name? Or do I just sign like I always would: First name, Middle initial, last name?

Note my passport is signed like I always do normally

  8. For I-129F or K-1 visa application?

Sorry guess I was assuming all would know what it was for, ooopsy :)

Yes for the K-1 Visa packet. I was thinking while I was trying to show proof on having met, should I include a copy of the bank statement page to each copied receipt? Or reference each receipt with sticky notes?

I decided to just reference each receipt with sticky notes to the corresponding bank statement page.

  9. There have been people purchasing flights BEFORE their visa is in hand? Ohhh my not a good idea.

Ailyn and I are only making general plan at the moment. Where we go to get married, asking friends/relatives if they would like to attend giving open invitations "when" that day should come. I have to told them all will keep them posted on our progress and give them more details as we know them. You really cannot do any more than that with an issued visa yet.

  10. More great things to know. We have been planning little things here n there so far. Thanks again for the information...

I have a question that just came to mind:

I've never been married before. Do Ailyn and I have to get married in the state where I live in New Jersey? Or can it be a different state. Some of her family live in Upstate New York. My best friend does too. Can we marry in Upstate New York?

Hope this question does not take this post off topic...

  11. Some people don't use emails. With all the technology who really use their emails. Me personally we use everything but emails. Emails are for exchanging the private paperwork. ..I have to many apps to use yahoo and gmail....

Agreed, this is one of the reason we do not use e-mail much with todays technology. We use e-mail for the same manor you do. I remember years back e-mail was a big thing but it's that widely use as much as it use to it seems.

  12. That's why many like myself have always been telling folks to purposefully generate all kinds of evidences regardless of your preferred method(s).

Everyone needs to convince a total stranger, the Embassy CO, that you have a legitimate relationship. Your word alone is not good enough. So content is key. They need to read about what you talk about so they can determine legitimacy.

thank you for your input... Not to sound harsh at all for I am not that way, If you have a legit relationship like Ailyn and I the proof should come natural no matter what means of communication a couple would use with the exception of video chat only. That would be hard to really show any form of text or messages I would guess. Too bad they would not allow for video chat saved on DVD, that would be a big help for people I bet.
