  1. Thanks both.

Hopefully I'll get the letter in another week or so, judging by recent timelines.

The issue with the NVC not answering is that my fiancee is saying the NVC line gives her a recorded message about there being lots of people calling so try again later and then it cuts her off. It's not giving her the option to hold on, apparently... I've told her the peak times to call but think she isn't getting up early to call them instead trying at around 10pm.

I tried early and late and honestly, I finally got the answer after calling (no joke) 10 times in a row (hang up, call right back, etc.), in the middle of the day from work (CST time).

Turns out they had had my LND number for several days but the people i had previously talked to didn't convey that to me. I finally got it by being exceptionally nice to the lady who picked up after the 10th call.

  2. We had trouble with packet 3. It was emailed to me (US citizen). Which i didnt actually receive and we checked on it and had it resent to my fiance. We then submitted our form that we are ready to interview and 2 weeks later contacted the embassy, which they lost our form. Been a bit of bad luck at the end. We are still waiting.

Does anyone know if we should expect packet 4 by email or post?

In London was by post. Not sure if same everywhere :)

  3. Has anyone had success getting the NVC to confirm that a case has been sent to the Embassy? I got my case number from the NVC on 6/9. I called at the end of that week on 6/12 to see if they could tell me if the case had been sent to the embassy, the lady acted like she had no idea what I was talking about. She said "it doesn't get sent, we are waiting for stuff" then when I proceeded to ask more questions she put me on hold, came back and apologized and said she was mistaken, but no the case hadn't left yet."

I'm willing to call again tonight and wait, if there's actually a possibility that they can tell me if/when the case was sent to London.

I did, but who knows if it was true? Our was also London and we couldn't track anything until London got it and entered it into the system, at which point it was "Ready".

There is a thread on here that tells you how to "track" through DHL, so if you have a case number yours should have been in the next batch to go to London (they go in batches, so yours could have gone next day or may be like 10 days like ours was)

I can tell you there is no guaranteeing that that is accurate since it is by batches, but ours was pretty darn close from when that batch was "received" by London (like next day).

  4. Forgive me for my ignorance. I've been with the fiance in Africa for 2 weeks with minimal access to internet. His packet arrived the day before I left, but I still don't have case numbers from the NVC.

Do we need the case number or something from the NVC to be able to fill out the DS-160? How do I get that? Do I need to call the NVC? Will they even have it now that the packet has left there?

I'm sure some of these questions are answered somewhere but I'm jet lagged and back at work already and just can't concentrate long enough to read through everything.

No worries! You just need SRC for DS-160. You will need a case number, though for rest so keep calling the NVC and asking for it until they give it.

Be polite, but a little pushy, and just say you really just want the case number (because, honestly, i got my case number a month ago from them on the phone and just got the letter with it from NVC like 2 days ago).

They will know if the packet has left. Once it is in the system (you won't have a case number until it is), hypothetically you should be able to use the CEAC tracking system, however, a lot of us haven't been able to access it until it arrives at the embassy and they process it, so just depends.

For now, call and get your case number (like people have been saying, you really need patience for this part, can take AGES to get through)

  5. Thank you!

I guess it might take some time for the website to be updated. When I search, it says " your search didn';t return any data".

By when you were able to check you case online? After it was sent to the embassy?

It totally varies, for sure, but ours, for instance, did not show up as anything but "your search didn't return any data" until the embassy had entered into their system.

  6. Quick question guys :) received my NOA 2 on mail today! In the receipt it says " we have sent the original application to the Department of State" , meanwhile when I check the status online it says "Case Aproved"! It does not show that it was sent.

How do I know if it was sent or no?

It is actually not sent until USCIS sends you notification (or sometimes they don't and it just shows up on the website as case has been sent to dept of state) :)

That language is totally confusing on the NOA 2!!

  7. Agreed 100%! Just be upfront and kind of pushy you are looking for your case number. We called a few times too until we got someone who found it for us.

Pushy definitely helps! And, not that i advocate for one government agency over another, but i did happen to say to the lady that it was so delightful to deal with them after dealing with TSC. She actually said to me "That's so nice, what can i do for you honey?".

  8. our case was sent to NVC last night.. we'll try calling next week. Can we avoid the 35 day speil if we say we're not 100% sure on our approval date when they ask us that?

before they even start talking about the 35 days just say all I want is my case number can you tell me if I'm in the system. and don't be afraid to call more than once because I had several people tell me it wasn't in the system and then finally got a woman who said it had in fact been in the system for 3 days

  9. Today has been an incredibly rough day so I'm hoping for some good news tonight. I know I've said that quite a lot, but it's getting almost impossible to remain positive. Sigh.

I also had the breakdown and I'm not one to be that way at all. Thought I was a strong person and then this process really broke me (and you've made it a month longer than I did!).

Seriously, I'm not a prayer, but I pray for y'all, and I came to realize it's not that we aren't strong, because we all are, we are making it through and still with our fiances/fiancees- this process is just totally unnatural and, honestly, mean. I'm more than aware of how government agencies work and I know we all realize that we are faceless pieces of paper to them, but that doesn't make it easier for us. So, i think its ok to have really bad days and breakdowns.

Anyway, fingers crossed for you, Mewbear. We Southerners tend to be big huggers, so sending one your way.

  10. Okay - good to know. I wasn't sure what that was about. I'm glad to know it's not a serious system glitch, because anxiety girl over here was fearing the worst: that maybe the system was acting up and maybe I wasn't actually approved. Hahaha.

I need to stop thinking like that.

Oh, totally. I was convinced they were taking mine away or I had been dreaming it. You're not the only one :)

  11. Finally found this thread.

We were approved on May 15, and we didn't get any notification that it's been sent to nvc, 12 days already. Should we call uscis or nvc now to know about our files location?

Unfortunately, as Av8or1 said, it can vary hugely. They send them in batches so ours didn't actually get sent until quite some time after we received actual NOA2.

You can call NVC, but be prepared for a wait, they were always nice to me, though, in the 15 times i called them.

My status was actually eventually updated on USCIS as sent to the department of state, think mine was also about 12 days

  12. Thank you so much. Yeah, I'm hoping that it can get out of there soon - I will scream if it takes 18 days ! lol. Really trying for a late July interview as our wedding is set for Sept 12th. We have a lawyer, and Michael has already completed a paper copy of the DS 160 months ago lol - I asked what we could do while waiting. The lawyer will enter that for us. He has also obtained his police reports. The biggest thing will be getting the papers to move along - I've been gathering info on London's requirements, and you are not supposed to schedule the medical until the embassy has received the case file. However, I know it can be done if you have your NVC info - so right now we are at a standstill until it at a minimum gets there :)

    Me too!! Welcome :)

BTW Dana-Kristen I noticed you guys met on WoW. Do you still play? Haha Michael and I met on a game pre-WoW but have been playing WoW ever since release :)

Yeah, my guy actually scheduled today with just electronic copy in hand in London. We have heard from numerous K-1s that if you have the screen shot of the CEAC website saying "READY" they will take it, still hoping we have actual letter by June 5th when it is, though!

Also, don't get upset if you are having issues with CEAC- ours said did not return any results until the day they entered it into the system 11 days after it left NVC :)

  13. I just received my NVC letter today, confirming it was sent to the embassy (but I already knew that :P ). Gosh so very excited that things are moving now. :)

Wooderz, if I take a guess it takes them about 4 days for them to send it to the NVC, another few days for it to get there, so trying on Friday may work for you. With the holiday it's delayed things a bit. I have no doubt it's already at the NVC, even if it's just sitting there waiting for processing. TSC man.... nothing they do surprise me...

Yuna is yours actually showing anything on CEAC?

It seems to be common with London embassy that they aren't showing up and having to call them directly (at which point, they blame NVC) :)

Nevermind! Just checked and it was finally working! Thanks!
