  1. I have already had my interview and was approved but the case is still ready but the case status updates have changed from 18th June to 25th June to 30th June - so is there another meaning for ready??

I believe with the technical issues going on, the updates have not been up to date. My husband had his interview on June 18th, status remained ready until June 25th when it changed to issued. He is picking up his visa tomorrow.

It is not unusual for the status to change 'to and fro', as per reviews from others on this site, I wouldn't worry if visa was approved. Give them time.

    Best

  2. im not sure if its somewhere on the site but can someone break down what ceac update means. I guess the READY one is what I need help with.

AT NVC means at NVC and it hasn't left, or it can say at nvc and it be at the embassy? and AP means AP .. when it says READY does that mean it left NVC and at the embassy and interview is booked? and after the interview ISSUED means the visa is printed and passport is good to go? sorry if its been asked but im just finished with NVC and want to understand the updates

    Thanks!

    I will try to explain;

When the case is complete and still at NVC, status at CEAC shows "AT NVC"

When interview is scheduled and case is sent to the embassy or consulate, status at CEAC shows "READY"

After the interview and while the visa is being processed, status at CEAC shows " ADMINISTRATIVE PROCESSING"

When processing is complete and visa is ready, the status at CEAC shows "ISSUED"

Visa is scheduled for pick up

  3. Thank for dear Ntwiga.. and congrats on your approval.

I appreciate your visual picture of what goes on at the embassy during embassy. I feel more relaxed. My daughter's file has not been closed but mine was. So we called NVC to speak with a rep and she assured us that we should be hearing from them in a few days. They asked for 2014 taxes which we had but we filled initially in February. we did not attach. my file was closed but my baby's file was checklisted for the taxes. I am praying this elongated wait will have an expiry soon.

    CeeMu

I understand the wait coz I have been in the process from Jan 2014 to now. It's a bad feeling. All I can assure you is that it will come to an end. Your baby and family will be together and intact soon. I almost felt like it shall never come to pass, but it did. In a few months your talk will be different, history shall have been made. I wish you and all the very best.

  4. Thank you Ntwiga! This waiting is very frustrating... Please PM me the process how it was from arrival at embassy to exit..

    Hi CeeMu

My husband arrived at the embassy at 6.25 am, his interview was at 6.30. There are guards who directed him to where he was to sit. There was a group of other people. Here he was asked for the interview letter and passport.

There are several security checks 3 in total. The next step he takes a number and waits for the number to be called, here he was asked who invited him. He was asked for his original civil documents (copies of which I had submitted to NVC). Then he was told to sit down.

The next time his number was called, he went for biometrics. Then he was told to sit down and wait.

The next step he go his name called out, he proceeded to a window where he was directed. He found an African American woman, he was sworn in before anything. Then the questions followed concerning our relationship. How we met, where I work, how many kids. After a few questions it was all over.

My husband told me confidence is most important. He was not asked for any AOS document or even the DS 230. I did my 2014 taxes at the beginning of February so I had used the 2014 taxes when sending the AOS. No other document was asked. The whole process took about 5 hours and 30 minutes. It advisable not to drive because there is no parking, one should be dropped instead. I hope this gives you an idea don't hesitate to ask.

  5. My husband had his interview today at Nairobi, Kenya. It was approved thank God. He had a few questions asked;

when did you meet and how? where does she work? do you have kids together? when did you see her last? Asked for a few pictures then the best news, thank you and welcome to the united states..... He was told he will get an email of when to pick up the visa, in 2-3 weeks. The system breakdown is real.

At this point I also want to than every member of the VJ community who awaits a happy end to their journey. I was able to complete all the required documentation with help and advice from this site. I couldn't have done it without those past and present members. And for the individuals who have sacrificed to set up the wikis, God bless you. Thank you for keeping it going. The stress is unimaginable. I wish you all the very best, your day is surely coming.

I will come back when the visa is eventually issued, for now it still shows 'ready ' and I expect it to remain so until the system is fixed.

  6. Ntwiga,

Thanks for your encouraging words and inspiration and YES I checked this morning it has changed from "AP" to "ISSUED"!

And actually due to excitement she forgot to tell me she had already been issued with her Alien number, hahaaa! So will try the ELIS and get the GC payment taken care off this morning.

I am praying for your interview and God will see you through. Feel free to inbox me too if you would need anything.

Congratulations again. I wish your family great joy and happiness, it's a tough journey but worth it. I trust mine will go well too. I will sure inbox you if I need to, thank you for your kindness. It's your time now, get ready.God is good.

  7. Hi,

My wife did her interview a few hours ago and she said it went well with just about a few basic questions asked.

    -how did you meet?

    -when did you get married?

-when was the last time he was here?

Then the IO asked for pictures and looked at one and said it looked good. She also asked if my wife had my tax returns and my previous marriage divorce decree. My wife said she didn't and the IO said no problem since they have them. She was then told her visa was approved and given a yellow/green pamphlet to know her rights in the US. Then was told to go register for DHL to which she told the IO she has already done. Then the IO told her to wait for her passport to be processed and the DHL will call her in a weeks time and that's it.

Now when I checked quick for the visa status it has changed to "administrative processing" and from what I have heard of that term it means delay. Is it normal to move to that stage and then issued or wherever follows without necessarily meaning delay??? Thanks in advance.

First of all congratulations Matuiza, am excited about the interview. All is well, don't feel discouraged. My understanding from many reviews I have read; AP is a normal process that many people get anxious about. It will change to issued soon. Please don't read too much in to their process. Your visa is coming. Thank God, relax and prepare for the 16th, usimpatie shetani nafasi pls. "Ikiwa Mungu yuko upande wetu, nani awezaye kutupinga? Enjoy the peace of the Lord, all is well.

  8. Yes Faith totally! For passport pick up, you will need to sign up with Nairobi Embassy when your status is "Ready". You will then choose a DHL location in the whole country where you would like them to send your passport once they are done with it. No more going to the Embassy.

Ticket, yes you only need a one way ticket since its an Immigrant Visa and they shoudn't have any problem because you are not required to return soon like a visitor or short non-immigrant visa.

Register with the Embassy if you havent and that print out has to go with during the interview.

Thank you again. I just registered, we will wait to get the pick up day.

Good day..though I can imagine the anxiety. Will be eager to hear good news tomorrow evening when I get home from work.

  9. Thanks for kind words...one more day. She had gone to Nakuru to see her family but now in Nairobi hoping 4th is interview complete, 11th is pick up of the passport and 16th is US bound flight to arrive in Minneapolis on 17th evening. Can't believe we gabbled with purchasing a ticket but couldn't wait!! The Lord is with us.

    Matuiza,

That is wonderful, I see it as an act of faith, "The righteous shall live by faith." Yes.. she will board that plane on the 16th, so it is well that she went to see her family.Tell me about passport pick up, how is it done and where is the pick up in Nairobi? Did you guys buy a one way ticket, is it ok? Am curious but I will spare you for now. God is good.

  10. Ntwiga,

I couldn't respond to you on June thread since its already closed. Yes my wife has three days to go and we are excited/anxious etc. I am not going to travel since I have travelled four times in less than a year and a half so I will wait until she is done and will definitely update you guys on Wednesday night! Yours also is just less than three weeks away. Lets keep our fingers closed and ask for blessings.

    Matuiza,

Thank you the response. My Prayers and best wishes are with you guys. God is ever so faithful. Your family will be complete soon, cant wait to celebrate the good news with you. It's been a tedious journey but worth it. Lets keep the faith.

  11. Looking at the form it doesn't look like they mail outside the country perhaps due to security of your privacy and cost but someone else who has a definite answer can comment. Another way of solving your problem would be requesting them to send to a friend or family address and have the individual send it even with faster mailing to you if you need it soonest. That's what I would do.

Hi Matuiza, your interview is coming up in a few days, i wish you best. Please let us know how it goes as we prepare.

Are you travelling to Nairobi? Mine is later on June 18th but will stay put.

  12. just received a checklist for AOS! :(((( Scan date is 30th of march

they want 2014 tax info :((

I was advised that even though the time for filing taxes for 2014 was still pending, I would still be required to produce 2014 tax return document during interview if scheduled after April 16. My case was assigned a number in mid January but waited to get my W2 forms, did my taxes and used the 2014 tax returns documents to complete the AOS. I only sent 2014 tax documents, with employment letter and 3 months pay stubs. It is advisable to have the tax documents ready. I couldn't get the 2014 transcripts when I filed because it takes time, but have now asked to get through the mail for interview.

My scan date was 2/17/15 and case complete 4/09/15 with no checklist. No interview yet.

Best to you all, you have been a source of support to me and many others. I was unable to add my info to the spread sheet.

    Hope this helps
