  1. Hello! Great news- we had our interview today and got approved on the spot! I'm so so happy and excited and relieved that it's over! Here are some interview details:

We got there (Los Angeles) an hour early, and were called in pretty much on time (8.45am). The interviewer was very serious but nice. We had to give him our drivers licenses, passports etc, and then take the oath. He asked about why I had come to the US in the first place, then about the other visas I've had. He asked where we met, and the month we got serious, and the month we moved in, and he wrote it all down. Why did it take us so long to get married (7 years), and why our parents didn't attend the ceremony. He then started to loosen up a bit-joked about 'is this you?' in all the passport photos, and on my EAD. OH- he also said "there are a lot of people, why chose this guy?", which was kind of fun to answer!

He then collected all of our joint documents, and flights together to Australia and added to the file. We didn't show him any of our photo album at all! He then went through our ENTIRE application, page by page, kind of as if he was looking for something? Asked me address, social, phone number, all the 'no' questions (are you a communist etc). But then just wrote some more stuff on paper, photocopied our drivers licenses, and approved us. Handed me a piece of paper that said "Congratulations..etc". Said to expect the green card in three weeks.

I think it took about twenty to thirty minutes? It was nerve racking, but relatively painless. I do have to say though- I was EXTREMELY organized in my original application, thanks to Visa Journey. Then I was super organized going in this morning, and we even practiced questions together- just to get in the feeling of answering concisely.

Phew! It feels great to be done! Best of luck to everyone else- the wait is worth it!!!

    Cheers.

  2. I walked in to the Wilshire support center yesterday, in LA, but they (very kindly) denied me. They have over 400 appointments in a day. So I drove to the one on Fairfax and Pico, and luckily got in! The security guard said there were only two officers working, but if I wanted to wait, I could. So I did! They were really lovely and efficient. So my biometrics is all done!

I'm not sure if early walk-ins speed up the process, but it's nice to be done with it. I have a feeling the real LONG wait begins now...

Hope everyone else is doing OK!

  3. I received my biometrics notice in the mail yesterday. Yay! It has instructed me to go to Chatsworth on May 12th- which is pretty far away from me! I'm going to attempt a walk-in in LA tomorrow, and see how I go!

Hope everyone is doing OK with the waiting! Drives me nuts sometimes, and other times I can (thankfully) go a few hours without thinking about it!!!

@stallion and @nycfa2015, let us know when you hear about the RFEs. Hope its easily fixed!!!

  4. Hello! This is my first post! I am finding Visa Journey amazingly helpful!

I am filing for an AOS, from my current O1 Visa, to Green Card, through marriage. I am putting on the final touches, and we will be sending off the file to Chicago Lockbox on Monday! Extremely nervous and excited. Any other April filers out there? Would love to share the journey!
