Hey, it's the Aussie Fiance here.. sorry for slack reply, had quite a busy week so far. We actually got our interview date today! 6th of Oct! Such a relief..and surprisingly soon!
I wonder what happens when someone refuses to get vaccinations
Hope the medical went well...did you get an answer?!
So at my Medical on Monday, I did have to get 2 vaccinations. The doctor was super nice and helpful, we asked a couple of questions, and he explained if there is vaccinations/ boosters that are required and I didn't have them there, the medical doesn't move forward. He said you could submit a compassionate refusal form or something like that, I can't recall exactly what the name of the form was, but that would put the whole case on a different pile and probably extend your wait until your interview. So yeah, it would seem as far as the medical is concerned (in Brisbane anyway) vaccinations are necessary.
It's probably worth mentioning that it ended up costing us $505 in total for the medical and the 2 additional vaccines, which was kind of surprising as we were originally told that it would cost $485 for the medical, and those vaccinations aren't exactly cheap, we'll post the receipt in our pictures sometime soon if anyone is interested. I did ask if the vaccinations would be cheaper if I had of just gone to a normal GP first, and he said they're the same price everywhere, and it's likely that Medicare (our free health care) wouldn't have covered any costs as this is all a 'lifestyle choice'
Anyway, that was long winded, but I hope it helps =D

They are certainly required in Canada for K-1; so maybe in Australia too. This seems to be country specific (in Canada, they won't release a "completed" medical without all vaccines...)
That's what I was saying. I'm pretty sure I've read medical reviews where people said if they didn't have any or all of the vaccinations required, they were given them then and there. While it might not say that the vaccinations are required for the K-1, they are required for the medical. I'll ask tomorrow, since I'll be going with my fiance to get his medical done, and I'll let everyone know.

Oh and in case anyone hasn't said it, vaccinations are required before you go to the US, because in Australia, the K-1 visa is considered an immigrant visa.

I agree with MickAmy, we did so much research before we started the visa application. The ONLY thing that took us by surprise was the MRV fee, simply because that fee somehow slipped through the cracks, but $350 really isn't that much. The money hasn't been a problem compared to the US visa process (which is outdated). But yeah, the DS-160 doesn't have a fee, it's just the visa fee (like I said the MRV fee). I totally get the frustration of how unorganized this process is, but you need to read all of the fine print before you start a K-1 visa. I've seen so many people who have "broken the rules" to the point where their entire visas have been voided, simply because they weren't aware of what the rules were.
I'm generally someone who skims over the "terms and conditions," but with this visa, I have read everything ten times over just to make sure. I hope everything goes well with your visa as it comes to a close. Best of luck.

I ask, because I've been living in Australia on a WHV since before we even filed the I-129f, so I'm pretty sure my income in another country doesn't even count as sufficient income as a sponsor. And also because I have an account at a credit union back home who won't supply total amount deposited in the last year as well as some of the other things it suggests on the USCIS website. And to top it off all of my income in (just about) the past year has been here in Australia. While I will still get statements from my employer here just in case, I'm wondering if it even matters. Thanks in advance.

(Petitioner here. We share the same account)
Quick question.
I realize even though I don't make enough to be a sponsor, that I still have to fill out the I-134 along with one of my parents as a co-sponsor. Saying that, I remember reading that if I DON'T make enough, I don't have to cover all requirements for evidence, simply because it doesn't matter considering I need a co-sponsor anyways. So, is it enough to supply what evidence I can for my form as long as my dad supplies all evidence required for his I-134? Just wondering.

Hey everyone,
Just signed up, thought I'd jot down a quick hello. My fiancée and I have been using this site as a resource for a while now, thought I'd finally sign up as we're just starting to get everything together for our K-1 visa application.
You'll probably be hearing a bit from us, no doubt we'll have a few questions relating to this somewhat confusing process =P
Hope you're all well
Justin =)
Getting so frustrated
in Australia and New Zealand

Yeah no worries. That's awesome news! It's a slightly uncomfortable process, but nothing to worry about. Hopefully he gets Dr Kable, he was a lovely guy. Got a call today saying my results were ready to be collected, and it was done on Monday, so it would seem they get it all sorted nice a quick.
Good luck to your fiancé! I'm sure it'll all go smoothly =)
