  1. Had my interview last Monday and got approved!! :)

Interview was scheduled for 10AM in Downtown Los Angeles. We arrived outside around 9:30, the line to get in was very short so it only took us about 5 minutes to get it. Took the elevator up to the 8th floor, walked up to the window and just dropped the interview letter there. We probably waited for an hour before we were called.

We followed the interviewer to her office and remained standing as she put us under oath. First thing she asked for was both of our drivers license and passports. Second thing she asked for was to see all original documents we had. We had our marriage certificate, and both of our birth certificates, she didn't look at them until later in the interview. She started to make sure our forms were properly filled out and that everything was spelled correctly.

Then she asked, How did you two meet? Did you start dating right away? Have you visited each others families? Were both families at your wedding? What do both of you do for a living?

All the questions she asked was directed to the person it involved so we didn't have to answer any questions about the other person's life.

I the beneficiary have a social security number so she asked if I had my card with me and I did so I showed it to her.

We then showed her all the new evidence of our marriage and she wanted us to label all of that for her before she took a look at it.

After probably 20 minutes and the interview felt like it was finished she asked us to sit outside in the waiting room but to leave all the documents with her and she would look over everything.

We probably waited for another 20 minutes in the waiting room until she came out with all of the original documents and the approval letter. She had us sign the letter and gave us the information on how to remove the conditional in 2 years. She asked if I had received my EAD card yet but it didn't show up in the mail until the day after so I told her that I had not received it yet and that was no problem. She said she had already ordered the green card for me and it should show up in 10-14 days.

When I walked out to the elevators I checked the USCIS app and it was updated to Card Ordered, and later in the day it was updated to Welcome letter mailed.

Overall it was a pretty fast experience and I could go to work after. The whole application for me has been pretty good. It took me less than 90 days to get approved for my green card and that seems to be pretty fast so I'm happy. I hope all of you get your interviews soon.

  2. I'm currently here on a F-1 Visa with an EAD card expiring August 14th. I got married three weeks ago and only waiting to receive my marriage certificate to mail everything to USCS. I've been trying to expedite my marriage certificate but they wouldn't let me and told me I should receive it mid June.

If I mail everything to USCIS mid June it seems like I would get my new EAD card mid September which means I can't work for a month. I have a great job right and don't want to loose it because I can't work for a month.

Do you think I would be able to expedite my EAD card so I could get it mid August instead so I won't loose my job?
