  1. dear VJ menbers,

Thank you for the kind words. We will have know each other for 3 years in June. Met in Scotland--me from US and her from Thailand. Small world.

If dealing with the US Embassy and something is not clear--e-mail them--I was very impressed that I got same day replies with relavent answers.

UK--you are lucky you can attend the interview with your lady--At the US Embassy my lady noted that the couples that interviewed together--the interviewer asked the guy the questions and they had a nice conversation with the Thai girl mostly listening. Visa approved.

I think if I would have attended the interview with my lady--things would have been more clear.

    Mike,

My lady will be in BKK on Mon--if you want, your lady may give mine a call to poss help with the hosp thing--#0 1364 2935

    Her name is Nin.

Remember she will be leaving the next day for Las Vegas USA.

    Take care all

    Greg and Nin

  2. Dear vj members,

Visa pick up today. Yeaaaa!!! Anyway my fiancee never received a phone call from the Embassy to pick up her visa. I mentioned earlier that her visa was held for a final "computer check" and the Embassy would call her when it was ready.

Well having her flight on the 21st a monday pick up would be the latest to make the flight. my impatience was overflowing. So I e-mailed the Embassy a second time. They e-mailed me back the same day and said that she can pick up her visa tomorrow at 1500.

What I am saying to people is that if anyone in the future gets this type of call back situation--give them a day or so then e-mail them. I was very impressed they replied to me the same day yet very unhappy that they never called her back when everything was ready.

One more hour till pick up.

By the way she was only asked 2 questions at her interview--when did she see me last? and where did we meet?

    Take care all

    Greg and Nin

    Las Vegas bound!!!

  3. Dear VJ members,

With a plane tic in hand for a 21 Mar take off to USA from BKK.

Regarding the "call back," I e-mailed the Embassy to inquire about the visa. To my surprise I received a same day e-mail from the Embassy stating that her visa was processed today--14 Mar. They mentioned the delay was having to do one more "computer check."

No mention when they will call--Hopefully tomorrow--will update on when the call back is made.

Lesson--I say book your ticket no less than two weeks after interview date--to have time for the unexpected.

    Bye Greg & Nin

  4. Dear VJ members,

As mentioned earlier, on my fiance's k-1 interview this past Fri she was told they will call her when her visa would be done. Given no time frame or explanation why the call back.

Now Mon has past and no call. Normal for Bangkok is to come back the next day and pick it up around 3pm.

Prob is the plane ticket for her on the 21st and no way to enquire about how long the wait for the visa.

Has anyone heard of the Embassy calling prople back like this? If you have how long before the call back?

    Thank you for any help

    Greg and Nalin

  5. What I find with calling cards are that they do expire, have the connect fee, weekly or monthly service charge and jump in cost when calling a cell phone.

for thailand I have used www.click4prepaid.com. Form my mobile to mobile--from US-- is 6.5 cents/min. Absoluely no extracharges. You can even printout your months usage. If you have a lady in the city with a land line it's around 5/min. I have had a little connect prob from time to time but nothiing to bad. You can check the rates for other countries. I think China is also good.

I have tried at least 30 other cards and sites.

Hope this helps someone--esp a homesick Thai lady--just say call all you want--you wont get the surprise $400 bill.

    Take care

  6. The funny thing is once you think you got it made the process will find something to stress you out.

As I mentioned in the sawadee k-1 thread, my fiance had her visa interview today in Bangkok/USEmbassy. With everything going well and what appears she will get her visa they take her # and say we will call you when your visa is ready. They of course gave her no time frame and no way to enquire what is going on with the status of her visa.

It feels like I am waiting for an arms dealer to call me in some Bogota fleabag hotel and if I miss the call they will never call back or notify me about a next call. Reference from the movie "Spies like us."

Normally people get the interview and are told when to come back and pick up the visa--usually 3pm the next day--in Bangkok. This is the first time I heard of the call back happening. I would think that if you are not going to get the visa they will tell you that moment. Now I sit in Embassy limbo.

Back to the thread--what do I do to keep from losing my mind--right now I am internalizing it and producing exess stomach acid to increase the evergrowing gastric ulcer that has formed since I started the K-1 process. More Prilosec please.

Now is there going to be a long delay and will I have to eat the Bangkok to Las Vegas ticket I bought for my fiance for the 21st of this month. By this time the ulcer should have penetrated--chalk one to the USEmbassy.

The saga of "the call back" and my ulcer to cont. I hope in the meantime if find some new coping mechanisms. I have little hair to pull out. Time to finally hang that punching bag.

Take care everyone--boy it felt good to get this of my chest.

  7. Dear Folks of VJ,

After reading much on this thread, I see that people who had there visa approved at the US Embassy in BKK during the interview were invited back the next day to pick it up.

Well, my fiance had her interview today at the US Embassy. She was asked only two questons and went on to do the window work and at the end was told to give her telephone number to embassy. They then said they would call her when to pick up her visa. They kept her passport and was never told of any thing negative about the paperwork, etc. She did ask do I have a visa and they said yes, but she felt like no definative answer.

Now it was Friday--10 Mar--could they have had a lot of visa to catch up on and instead of telling her to come back Mon they will call when they catch up? I don't know. Any way I have a plane ticket for her on the 21st. Here comes the questions.

Has anyone had the "phone back from the embassy" to pick up there K-1 visa? If they have, did they call within the next few business days? Should I change the plane ticket? And if we do not get some notification for her to pick up her visa in the next few days is there any way to call and check on the status?

Up to this point everything had been smooth--US Attorny prepared app--more than enough meeting documents--we've know each other going on 3 yrs. I am a US medical doctor and have no prob with supporting her. Neither of us with any police records and she has never worked in a bar.

Any advice welcome, Thank you to all

    Greg and Nin
