  1. Not every field office allow same day oath. newark does it same day I didn't have to ask for it. the interview officer when she finished the interview she gave me a paper the oath ceremony paper and it had the same date written on it. So she told me to wait in the waiting area. They call ur name and ask you to surrender your green card and show u a copy of the naturalization certificate to verify it has the information correct such as name address alien number and then they told me to go to another room. Once that room filled up they had ûs take the oath. I belive newark does like 3 or 4 oath ceremonies a day

  2. Well this is the crazy part I sent everything I mean everything so that means all five year photo copy of taxes and the police report for the arrest and the disposition letter stating the ticket number and that the ticket was paid in full. See on the police report it had the ticket number as the cause of the arrest. So I asked my lawyer what should I take with me he said just the I'd passport gc and driver licenses he said I don't need to bring anything else cuz we sent all the rest. I DID NOT listen to him and I took with me all 5 years of taxes copies. I went and got another disposition letter from city hall with original city letterhead. And I took copy of police report again. And what she asked me for all those things expect the tax. Ok as far as the tax thing see there were two questions did u ever fail to file your state or federal income tax. So on that I checked off yes. And second question was if u owe any state or fed tax I checked that no. So when ask do u owe any taxes. I said no. She said but u wrote that u failed to file. I said yes that true I failed to file on time but I did complete them, and paid all taxes. So she said u done owe any taxes . I said no . I kept to the point not get bogged down in detail only answer what was asked

  4. So today was my interview in Newark . Well here was my issues. When I was 13 was caught shop flitting. I had paid restitution. No police was called no court. Second problem I had a bench warrent issued for missing court date on a traffic ticket , talking on cell phone ticket. Now I had a lot of traffic tickets which I didn't pay for like 2 years. But that incedent was few years back. Today all tickets paid off and zero points on driver license. Third problem was taxes. I had not filed taxes from 2010 thru 2014. So this year I paid sh*t load of money to straighten all the taxes out. Third problem was I didn't have exact travel dates from when I traveled outside us. Because I'm here as asylee . I traveled on refugee travel documents . When u have refugee travel documents the only last about 2 years and when u re apply u have to send the old one back. I Neva bothered to photo copy the travel logs from travel docs. So I submitted a foia request to cbp for the travel logs. They did send it to me but trust me when I tell u they next to impossible to make sense of. Some dates are very simple to understand some aren't so easy. So I did my best but I knew for fact I Neva traveled for longer then 6 months. So as u can see I was more then nervous going in cuz I thought my case wasn't straight forward. I did mention everything on the application. So in the interview they asked the civic questions I breezed throgh them. So now the hard part the io was going through every question from my n400 . So when it came to taxes she asked if I owe any taxes . I said no. She said but it says on ur application that you failed to pay taxes. I said yes that's true I failed to file taxes on time but I am all caught up with my taxes. She said so u don't owe taxes I said no. Then she asked me tell me about ur arrest ,what happened. So I explained to her that a bench warrent was issued . And it was for traffic ticket .she asked me if I went to court and if I paid the fine. I said yes and gave her the disposition letter. She was looking at that really closely . Btw all docs I brought were original . So after that she was clicking away on her computer. And said congrats I recommending you for approval. And few hours later I took my oath ceremony same day and got my certificate of naturalization. :-) I'm sry for the long post I got a lot of help from fellow vj ers. I got a lot of advice and input so I wanted this post to be as detailed as I can make it

  5. Ok so I have naturalization interview on the 9th had a bench warrent for a traffic ticket . The traffic ticket was talking on the cell phone while driving. Ok so I know I'm suppose to bring all docs related to arrest. So when I went to court first they couldn't even locate it. So I went to city hall to open records dept and the cleark was able to find the police report for the incident. So on the police report it had the ticket number of the ticket for which the bench warrent was issued. So I went back to the court and gave Clark the police report . She gave me a disposition letter that listen the traffic tickets there were 3 on that dispo letter one of the ticket was same as on the police report. And also on the dispo letter it said guilty and said all fines are paid in full. So basically for the arrest the only two docs I have is that police report and the disposition letter. Will that be enuff for the arrest or is there a specific thing I have to get.

  6. Hey guys just applied for naturalization. First time writing in a forum so bear with me still trying to figure out how everything works. So I just wanted some in put from you guys. I been permanent resident since 05 just applied for citizenship. Now my issues are this when I was 12 years old I was caught shoplifting embarrassing to say now but I believe it was a Pokemon pack . So I had paid restitution to the store. No police was called to court or anything of that sort. Number # 2 issue in 2011 I missed a court date for a traffic ticket . The ticket was driving while talking on a cell phone . So the court issued a bench warrent and I was pulled over and arrested for the bench warrent judge let me out the next day I took care of all traffic tickets and all license related issues . It took my few months to sort all traffic tickets but all paid and license good. Haven't gotten any tickets since 2011. Finally number 3 issue I was late filling tax returns but don't owe any taxes all them up to date. Now I disclose all this on n400. I also had a lawyer prepare the form. He said everything should be fine. Now I know he professional but doesn't all these things look real bad or am I just scaring my self . Like to hear if anyone had similar experiences
