  1. Strange thing is, they even removed the sentence " you should receive a decision or case update by May 22, 2015 unless fingerprinting or an interview are needed.." from the My USCIS page.

That was removed from mine, too. Estimated date, gone.

I'm on day 64, as they said they'd get back to me by June 20th. The date came and went, so I called USCIS. The person I got on the phone wouldn't transfer me to a supervisor. They submitted an inquiry on my behalf (pointless as I could have done it myself). The inquiry response I received earlier today said the following:

"Your case is currently under review by an officer. You should receive a decision, correspondence or notice of other action within 60 days of the date of this letter.

We hope this information is helpful and appreciate your continued patience."

They 'appreciate my continued patience'.. I'm sure. Just like the rest of us they keep waiting, we're only dying just for the chance to see our loved ones again. And it's not like they've given us any choice but to be patient. Not like we've got any choice but to sit helpless and confused by their lack of transparency and unreasonably long time frames.

Is there anything I can do at this point? Keep calling and trying to get a supervisor? Sit patiently some more?

  2. 11/14/2014 : NSC received I-130

    04/08/2015 : RFE (missing signature)

04/18/2015 : Finally received RFE in mail, mailed back same day

04/21/2015 : They received corrected document

    06/20/2015 : Their self-imposed deadline for response

I suppose I'm just looking for reassurance.. the vast majority of the information I've researched on RFE's suggests that the approval comes shortly after they receive the required evidence. If my paperwork was thoroughly looked over, and my case's approval hinged on the stupidly-overlooked signature, why has it taken 6 weeks thus far? Is this typical?

In my worry and impatience, I submitted an inquiry (abnormal processing time), if only to get my case poked. They responded next day simply asking me to allow more time for processing. I expected this, but I have a difficult time waiting idly.

Can anyone share their RFE processing times @ NSC? Advice to put my mind at ease? What happens if the deadline is met and I haven't received a response?

  3. Sorry if this isn't the correct place to post this, but I'm looking for opinions/insight into my RFE.

I received my RFE because of a MISSING SIGNATURE (infuriatingly simple)! My case is being processed by NSC.

    11/14/14 - They received I-130 packet

04/08/15 - RFE. Is 5 months before RFE unusual?

04/18/15 - RFE finally arrives in mail

04/21/15 - They received my corrected documents

A month later, 5/20/15, still no response. A missing signature seems like a simple fix.. presumably, my case's approval hinged on it, right? They gave themselves until 6/20/15 to respond, so I'm still a month from their self-imposed deadline. From what I've read on this site though, such a long time is unusual, usually bad news.

What can I do? I've called USCIS before, but all they do is read me my case status, same as anyone could do. Is it possible to get to someone who can give my case a poke and get more information about what's holding the approval up?

Or is a month typical enough that I should just sit tight and wait a while longer?

  4. I read through the first 12 pages of this thread, and didn't see anyone talking about visiting the beneficiary's country.

Over the years, I've spent a lot of time with my fiance-now-husband in England, and I would really love to spend a couple more months there together before he becomes a U.S. resident. I've grown to love his country and his family, and it's important to us that we make more memories there before the U.S. becomes his home.

Can I go and stay with him legally/without interfering with the CR-1 process?

  5. My case was updated with a RFE on April 8th.. the issue was very simple - a missing signature.

It took 10 days to receive the RFE (18th), and I promptly fixed the error and sent it back same day.

    My case status:

On April 21, 2015, we received your response to our Request for Evidence for your Form I-130, Immigrant Petition for Relative, Fiance(E), or Orphan, Receipt Number xxx. Our Nebraska Service Center office will begin working on your case again. We will mail you a decision or notify you if we need something from you. You should receive a decision or case update by June 20, 2015, unless fingerprinting or an interview are needed.

I'm hoping my case was thoroughly reviewed and on the brink of acceptance except for that missing signature.. and that it won't truly take 2 months to hear back from them. This separation is killing both of us!

Has anyone else had a RFE over such a stupid oversight? What was your processing time?
