  1. Hi,

    Did this happen to anyone?

After waiting over 10 weeks for my card I have just found out from USCIS customer services that they have sent it on 02/18.

I should have received the green card by 02/20/2016. The tracking number says that the local postal service in Miami never delivered the envelope, and they have not updated the status of this delivery. They have not sent the envelope back to USCIS either. That means that somebody from the postal service took it.

Now I have to send a form I-90 to replace permanent green card with bunch of other document that I don´t know if I have a copy of them. Yesterday I found out from my neighbor that his mom and sister had the same issue. Why do people still your green cards? I am worried that now somebody can still my identity, go with that green card and request a copy of my social security card, get a loan… What can I do?

    Thank you

  2. Thank you for all your answers.

He did not grow up in the US. He grew up in Dominican Republic. His mom almost died during the difficult pregnancy so the only option the grandparents saw to save her daughter and the baby was to give birth in the US since the medicine was more advanced here. They lived here for one year and then returned to their country. From what I could find out, my husband should have lived during at least 5 years in the US, prior to his daughter being born, to be able to give her the citizenship. I guess the only option left is to apply for the green card.

  3. Hi everyone. My husband is US born citizen, and he wants to file I-130 for his 18 old daughter that lives in the Dominican Republic. He was married to her mom, in Dominican Republic, when she was born, and now he is married to me for over 4 years. What documents and certificates does need? Does he need to provide his tax returns or mines as well? How much does he has to make per year?

    Thank you for your help.

  4. We did not prepare for the interview because we live together for almost five years. I did not think it was necessary. She did not ask him any details about the previous marriage, only where did he got married and divorced (South America), and if he brought the divorce papers. He said NO. He told me that he married the mom of his first kid because they were both young, she was 17 and he was 19. Her parents wanted them to be married before the baby was born. They never lived together, and they have divorced when he moved back to the US. I know that my husband does not think right. In the country that he grew up they have spent to much time on the streets, and learned to survive but lies don´t go long way. I do love him, and of course we all fight in a relationship but I really want this to work. I guess if in the end they don´t give me another green card, I can try to work it out with an attorney. The last option is move back to Europe, take him with me, and give him european passport.

  5. Answers:

He was born in the US because his mom had difficult pregnancy and they could both die. When he was 2 he moved back to his mom´s country and he grew up there. Both of his kids are from different women. We never put kids on the documents because they were not applying for the green card with me, and on the page with instructions it states to include the kids that are applying at the same time or in a short period. I wanted to include them in the form N-400 because there it says: all the children without any specifications. I think that the only reason that they have this information is because he tried to get the papers for his oldest daughter. Yes, he has bad memory for dates, and numbers. I am the one that helps him with that part of his job. I guess I will have to wait for the letter to arrive, and in the worst case scenario hire an immigration attorney.

Thank you all for your comments. I really appreciate it.

  6. Update,

I just had my interview this morning. My husband is US citizen. The first question was if I was ever married before. I said NO. She asked than my husband the same question. He admitted that he was married before (we have not put that in any application before since I just found out about that last year). He did not remembered for how many years was he married nor what year did he divorce. The second question was about kids. I told her that I don´t have any but that I am currently pregnant and showed her ultrasound pictures. She asked him if he went with me to the doctor and he said no. She said to me that she would reconsider my marriage to him, if he does not even find the time to go to the doctor with me. She said that she does not know if this baby is his or it could be from somebody else. She might has to request a blood test once the baby is born. Funny, since I am married for 4 years with him. Than she asked him about the kids. The told her that had 2 (we never included his children in any application since they were not applying for the green card with me). She asked about their names, ages, and baby moms names. She asked me when did we married. I answered correctly. She asked my husband when was I born. He knew the day and the month but not the year. He did tell her what is my age. She checked our passports and stamps of our travels. She asked me if he traveled without me last year. I told her that he has for 10 days to his mom´s country to do medical exams since here is expensive. She asked me if I know of any arrest or parking tickets that he had. I told her that he did not paid for 3 tickets, and they took his car tag and almost towed his car. She asked me for pictures, and looked at them. She did not say anything. She took our last 3 months of bank statements, and last 2 years of tax returns. She did not even wanted to see the lease contracts, electricity bills, sunpass toll account, dentist bills, phone bills - she said that does not mean anything to her. She said that she will look over all her file again and that I should receive a mail in 2 months or less. When I got home, I realized that she did not even ask me for passport pictures that I brought for the new green card. I don´t know what to think but I feel so miserable knowing that my marriage is real, and now I am at her mercy. It´s so funny when I think that I know so many people that are married just to get the green card, and nobody has ever had an issue, nor a second interview, and they all get the green cards and the citizenship. Here I am married for love and I might not even get my second green card :-(

  7. Hi,

My I-751 petition to remove the condition was pending since July 2014. I have received today a letter from Uscis that I will have an interview with an USCIS examiner next month, and that I should bring some additional items:

    - It says that I have to bring 2 recent photos (see attached instructions for specifications). They have not attached any instructions, and now I don´t know the size that I have to bring.

    - Certified IRS printout for joint tax fillings for the previous two years. Where can I get a certified printout?

    - Power of Attorney. Why do I need a power of attorney?

    - Evidence of joint purchases. How can I proof a joint purchase?

I have half of the other things that they are asking but I don´t have a joint insurance policy, wills of me and my husband, joint loan application.

I am currently pregnant and I was thinking about bringing the ultrasound results with me.

Thank you for all your advices.

  8. No RFE for me. My case was transferred from Vermont to my local office on 02/26/2015. They told me that when I called USCIS.

When I got the stamp the lady told me that she does not have any additional information to give be but that they have many cases, and I should be waiting for an interview.

I might just hire an attorney and apply for N-400 with him. I want to be over with this.

  9. I applied for I-751 in July 2014. I am still waiting for the response. At the local office the day that I got the I-551 stamp, I asked why is it taking so long they told me that I will be scheduled for an interview. I can already apply for the naturalization.
My husband has not told me that he was previously married for 12 years in another country. This year 2015 he applied for the citizenship for his 17 old daughter who lives in that other country, and he wrote on that application that he was married before. He submitted the application in the country where his daughter lives. They denied the application since he was not living in the US during 5 years prior to the birth of his daughter. I know that he will try to apply for her green card next year.

I don´t know now if this has anything to do with me, and my application. Will I be called for the interview because he lied on my application? Should I apply for the naturalization, submit the new information telling that he was married before, and try to speed up the process? By the way, I live in Florida.

  10. Thank you very much for the information. Yes, in July were already 3 years since I got my first green card. I know that I can apply for the naturalization. I am waiting to see if I should hire an attorney.

My husband said when I applied the first time for the green card, and last year when I applied for the removal on the condition that he was never married before. He told me this year that he was married in another country for 12 years before, and he tried to apply for the citizenship for his 17 year old daughter. They denied it since he did not live in the US 5 years prior to her being born. When he applied for his daughter at the US embassy in the country that his daughter was born, he wrote in the application that he was married before. I don´t know if the immigration services gather the information from other petitions from the US citizens. I am now scared that since he lied when filling out the information with me, I will have problems. Should I just go with the same information I put the first two times, or should I update this information and tell that he was married when I apply for the naturalization. This is a big problem now for me. Perhaps should I write a new topic and ask the people here in the forum :-(

  11. Hi,

I just found out that I am 4 weeks pregnant. I applied for I-751 in July of 2014. I have I-551 stamp while I am still waiting for the interview.

Can I apply for prenatal Medicaid? Will this affect negatively my condition? I have a sponsor, and I signed that I will not request any government help for the first 4 years. I am self-employed and I make around $20,000 per year. My husband won´t do his taxes since he made less than $5,000 in the whole year. I live in Florida. I was reading online that I should say that I am separate to be able to get the medicaid. I am so confused.

    Thank you for your replies
