  1. They plan to move back after the pandemic has subsided - may be after few months from now. They will live with me in my new address after they come back. They plan to use the returning  resident visa (SB-1) when they come back.

Will it be problematic if their AR-11 is not updated from the old address to the new future address?

I plan to fill I-865 for me.

  2. hi all,

My parents (who are green card holders) have been out of US for about more than a year now. They could not return within a year because of the pandemic and also personal health issues which extended their stay outside US.  They are both 65+.

They used to live with me in my  current US address. Now I am moving (few miles down the road).

How do I update AR-11 for my parents? I was their petitioner.

    Please advise

  3. Hello,

At the port of entry last week, the immigration officer at the airport returned the sealed immigration packet (for my parent). He was in a wheelchair line. However, the passport was stamped and the entry was allowed. What should we do? Should we mail the sealed immigration packet to the USCIS or DHS? However, the officer did not return the packet for my mother.

    Please advise. Thanks.

  4. Hello All,

During the immigration application, we had checked the option to get the ssn.

However, my wife (CR-1) has not received her SSN after arriving to the US after 4 weeks. So, we are going to apply it at the local office.

What documents should we take to the local office?

In the SS-5 form (the new SSN application form), there is line no 11.

    pls refer https://www.ssa.gov/forms/ss-5.pdf

This line says "has the person applied for the SSN card before? Y or N"

Should we check "Y" or "N"?

    We are confused. Please advise.

  5. I would definitely recommend keep calling and requesting a supervisor, my case wasn't updated until I spoke to a supervisor who updated while we were on the phone. The process took almost 3 months for our case to updated, hopefully your's will be updated soon, waiting for each step to complete is truly the hardest part, but each time our case moves forward I know we're that much closer to being together.

I agree with ANF2014; Request supervisor review - I had to talk with two supervisors. Also I had to request my senator here to enquire.

Even then, it took me nearly 3 months.

  6. looks like I-864ez is not applicable for your case. I will say I-864 since you dont have W-2s(??)

    per the website: copied below

You may use Form I-864EZ if ALL the following conditions apply: 1. You are the person who filed or is filing Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative, for a relative being sponsored; 2. The relative you are sponsoring is the only person listed on Form I-130; and 3. The income you are using to qualify is based entirely on your salary or pension and is shown on one or more Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Form W-2s provided by your employers or former employers

  7. Hello VJers,

I called NVC again for my checklist email. Another call operator told me I never included the document cover sheet which confounded me.

I had sent them the coversheet that they had included with the instruction sheet. However, when I visited the ceac site (and printed the coversheet), the coversheet is completely different than one I had sent. Which one is the right one? shown below

    (1) Coversheet with the instruction sheet:

    Document Cover sheet

    List of documents

    Order Document Enclosed Unavialble Available

    1. Cover sheet ........ [ ]

    2. Financial documents.. [ ]

    ...etc

    OR

    (2) Coversheet in the ceac site:

    This says:

    DOCUMENT COVER SHEET

The next step in the immigration process is for the Petitioner to submit an Affidavit of Support. A link to the instructions has been provided for you on the Receipt Page. You can also find the instructions on the NVC website at www.ImmigrantVisas.state.gov

You MUST RETURN THIS COVER SHEET with the Petitioner's completed forms and supporting documents. Failure to do so will delay your visa(s). Please attach this page to the front of the documents for this case and mail to:

    National Visa Center

    Attn. CMR AOS

31 Rochester Avenue Suite 100 Portsmouth, NH 03801-2914

    Principal Applicant: Name

    case number:##

  8. Hi VJers,

I called NVC and the case specialist told me i have a checklist for AOS on one page. I have not received any email or checklist mail from NVC yet. The NVC operator told me I can simply send the AOS with the coversheet or I can wait for the checklist email. I sometimes feel not confident when talking with NVC operators since different will answer differently.

What is the process of sending the checklist response?

    Please advise me

    - Do I just the entire AOS with the coversheet right now? Or,

    - Do I just send one page (of AOS) with the coversheet right now? Or,

    - Do I wait until their checklist email?

Please share me your experiences and advices.

  9. My scan date is Sept 11. After deliberation, I finally requested them to escalate to supervisor review -said it will take 42 days to be reviewed.

Then I called again - a case specialist said they received my "some" documents on Sept 25th - which is pretty strange since I never send them any after the scan date of Sept 11th.

I called again and another case specialist also said he can see they received my documents on Sept 25th. I mentioned to him I never send them anything after the scan date of Sept 11th.

Now, I am wondering if they mess up with various case numbers' documents :huh2: !!!

  10. Hello VJers,

I was looking at my old petition documents. Just realized there was a mistake in my wife's G-325a.

Now the documents are at NVC in the review process.

Since she was a student and had no job, I had told her to put "None" and "N/A" for the employment section.

Also, last occupation abroad as "N/A" since I thought occupation meant "employement". Now, I think it should be "student" instead.

    What should I do?

  11. i called today and they put me on supervisor review....the lady was nice and she told me it can take upto 42 days but not necessary ....hope for the best..

I feel the operators always like to forward it to the supervisor review. When they upgraded my petition from F2A to IR1/CR1, I had it put to the supervisor review after nominal 42 days. So, it took another 47 days because the case could not be updated since it was in the supervisor review queue.

I dont know if I should forward to the supervisor review if they dont start reviewing my documents in few days or just wait more days. NVC is very opaque... :clock:

  12. Hello VJers,

I recently send in my AOS/tax documents to NVC. I am still waiting for them to review. However I realized I may need to amend my tax return.

I filed single for last two years since my wife did not have a SSN. Reading various threads in here, I realized I may need to amend my tax return

    as "married filing separetely".

    Now my questions are:

    (a) Do I send my amended tax return (with updated Tax filing status) right now to NVC?

    (b) Do I wait until NVC completes the review? In case there is a checklist, I can send the amended return together.

© Do I wait until the embassy interview schedule? and send to the embassy?

    (d) Do I submit it during the interview itself?

    Please advise

  13. Hello Vjers,

Somebody told me today that a naturalized citizen can have his citizenship revoked if it is found that he/she has no intent of staying in US within the first year after oath.

    Is it correct?

For example, somebody becomes citizen in 3rd April, within one year, he/she leaves for his/her home country and stayed there.

  14. Received my RFE mail...it states:

Submit all supporting tax documentation(W-2s,1099s,Form 2555,and all supporting tax schedules)submitted to the internal revenue service for the most recent tax year. The petitioner/sponsor's household member must submit all supporting tax documents for the most recent tax year.

What should I send here..and does it center only on the petitioner's household member?

I would send both petitioner's and the sponsor's information to avoid more delay.

Didnt you send the tax documents originally? (or did you send the IRS certified tax return)?

  15. You are really lucky cos my husband is waiting in his country and we stuck in NVC. after more of 60 days now is in supervisor review for another 42 days witch is complete ridicolous to me . We married last Nov and the pr0cess start since December with USCIS everything going easy but NVC is a nigthmare . I USA citizen and still waiting for my husband.

    Hello Ahad,

Are you waiting for the embassy interview or for the case to be completed? Your timeline notes said you are waiting for the embassy interview to be scheduled. I am lil confused.
