My husband was approved and received his visa on 8/15!! Our Congressman contacted the consulate and received a decision 2 days later. He is back in the US!!!

My husband has been in AP since 8/18. The only update change we got was on 8/31. The date hasn't changed. They requested more documents which they received on 8/26 and our lawyer also requested them to expedite because my mom was seriously ill and has since passed away. My husband wasn't able to be here for the funeral. He's in Lima, Peru. Haven't met anyone who has been there for an interview so not sure what is going on.

The reason is because they requested more proof of marriage which we sent more than enough, at least 30 documents. It was received 8/26 and the last update was 8/31. Was wondering why the date hasn't changed since.

Yes our attorney did put a request to expedite. It was not his parent which I know makes a difference. Thank you for your condolences.

The status on the ceac website hasn't changed since 8/31. Why is it not updating and what does this mean, if anything?

Our lawyer said the consulate can use their own discretion as to whether to expedite or not. No form was filled out, just explained my mom passed away and I need my husband here. They requested additional papers that was received on 8/26. Hoping to get a decision soon. What they were asking for was something very minor. Our lawyer said we should hear something soon. Hope that's the case.

Hi. Has anyone been to their interview for the I601a and had to submit additional evidence. Was wondering how long it takes being in administrative process before getting a decision and if there was a request to expedite how long did it take? I realize it probably depends on which consulate but was hoping to get a general idea. Husbands interview was in Lima, Peru.

Does anyone know the processing time for NVC to review and close case? I have heard 60 days and recently 30 days. Anyone here have or had an interview in Lima, Peru?

Does anyone know the steps to have a relative become power of attorney to get police certificates from Peru. I believe you have to go the embassy nearest you. I called the embassy where we live and the phone just rings and rings. Was wondering if there was anything we need to bring with us.

Hi. Do you need to send police certificate from Peru to the NVC or just bring to the interview. We have an approved I601a and are gathering documents to submit. What else do we need to send? Can you make copies off the computer or do you need certified copies. Appreciate the help!!

If anyone has an approved I601a and went to the interview in Lima, Peru could you please post your experience such as what questions were asked at the interview, how many days in advance did you get your medical, how long did it take to get passport from DHL, what documents did you bring to the interview. Any information would be appreciated.
