My gf is currently in America and approaching her return date back to Japan where she will do the interview for her F1 visa and hopefully come back a month or so from now. Couple of questions if anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated:
She has her I-20 already from the school. My dad signed an Affidavit of Support that the school required to issue the I-20. I read recently that an I-134, tax returns for 3 years, and bank records for 3 years will be needed from the sponsor. Is all of this actually required or will the I-20 issued by the university suffice?
I also read that if financially sponsored by another person, proof of her relationship to that person(my dad) would be required. I do not know know how to satisfy this condition. Would she just state that he is her boyfriend's father?
Also, she will enroll in classes before the visa interview date, but the classes will not be paid for yet. I am planning to pay for everything in a couple installment plans the school allows for. Will this be an issue?
Finally, does she have to provide documents demonstrating strong financial, social and family ties to Japan that will compel her to go back there? If so, it seems like having my dad sponsor her would be a bad thing.. Maybe she could say that her family in Japan needs her to come back or I will return back with her after school here? I am American but actually have a Japanese work visa for another 2 years.
