  1. Hi all,

While our visa was originally denied due to our poor financial situation, in the end we found a co-signer for the Affidavit of Support, and my fiance's visa was issued at the end of January 2016!!! He arrived safely in the U.S. on February 28!!! We are so absolutely thrilled and appreciate all of the support and information that you all offered that made our dream come true! If anyone has any questions about how the process worked at the Havana embassy, please feel free to message me!

We also recently created a Go Fund Me to help with the last of the visa fees, as we are financially struggling. While my friend signed the affidavit, they are not actually giving us any funds, so we are completely dependent on my income (I am a recent college graduate). Our page is here if anyone is interested in sharing our page or contributing. We would be so grateful! https://www.gofundme.com/sandysusanna

  2. I know, it is ridiculous that the guidelines in the end are completely up to the interviewer, who gets to decide if we get to be together! It is so frustrating. I am afraid that there is nothing that we can do. :( But we are keeping our hopes up and working toward being together some other way. Stay strong!

I am really sorry to hear about the denial. I know how hard this must be for you, at the same time I cannot believe they can deem it when it is a guidelines and you meet the guidelines. I would see about filing a complaint or something if possible. I really hate this process and the fact that a complete stranger can determine our fate.

I wonder if anyone else on here that is more experienced with this stuff could give an option. Again I am so sorry to hear your news. I hope it works out for the best.

I hope they won't deny me because I have only been at my job 7 months but was contracted here for 6 months before I went perm. This who processes SUCKS.

  3. do u have dependent?? cuz if its just you and ur fiance.if u made 20k.is fine...thats what i heard.

I do not have any dependents. I heard that it would be fine too, but it is at the discretion of the interviewer. My fiance went back to the embassy to make sure it was absolutely mandatory that we get a co-sponsor since we meet the income minimum, and they said the interviewer had deemed it mandatory.

  4. is it ok to ask why did they asked for a cosponsor???..cuz i am doing the k1 as well.i only made 22k last year.. :(

I just graduated college in May, so I have only had a full-time job for 3 months with an annual salary just under 25k. Only $1,000 in savings and no assets.

My fiance emphasized that we will be living with my parents. They said we had to get a co-sponsor, and they would "prefer" that our incomes combined came to about 40k.

We aren't even bothering to apply again right away, because we'd probably be denied again next year due to our financial situation. :(

  5. Hi everyone,

I have not posted on here too much, but I do just want to thank everyone for all their support and crucially helpful information.

My fiance's interview was July 30, and they said they would give him the visa if we found a co-sponsor. Unfortunately, we have no one at all to help us financially, so the visa is denied. We are looking into moving to another country in Latin America.

We are so disappointed that the visa did not work out, but if we end up applying again in a few years, I will know where to look for help.

THANK YOU and best wishes to you all! Feel free to ask me any questions if I can help in any way.

  6. Thank you! Yes, we had to wait until we received the NVC letter and also for the Interests Section website to indicate that our case status was "ready for processing". It was about a month between receiving our NOA2 and the status showing as "ready".

As long as he has filled the DS 160 you will be ok. I wish you good luck on the interview.

question did you wait on the NVC letter to schedule the medical exam and the interview, and if you did how long did it took your petition to reach the interest section.

    thanks

  7. are you sure it takes 4-6 weeks to mail something? I went to the post office the other day asking if they mailed documents to cuba they said yes. Just regular mail not even fed ex or ups. I know DHL mails to cuba and heard that can take 2-3 weeks.

It is very confusing, I keep hearing different answers. From what I have heard, U.S. Postal Service does deliver mail to Cuba, but it requires 4-6 weeks. I have heard of it taking even longer sometimes. I thought that DHL mails to Cuba, but when I tried to proceed with mailing the package, DHL told me that due to the embargo they cannot send anything from the U.S. to Cuba. Fortunately, one of my friends is visiting Havana next week, so she is delivering the package for me in person.

  8. Hi all,

I am very confused, because I see people mention that their fiance has to fill out a packet 3, which usually includes the DS-156 form, to bring to their interview. However, on the website for the Department of State and the U.S. Interests Section in Havana, I am not seeing any information about this. Is it required for Cuba? My fiance's interview is July 30, and he has already had his medical exam.

I would appreciate any help at all. Thank you!!

  9. Hi everyone,

My fiance's interview at the U.S. Interests Section in Havana is currently set for July 30. I am considering making it a later date, because due to the embargo it is going to take at least 4-6 weeks to mail him all the necessary documents and evidence for the interview. However, our petition will expire August 9. My question is: Can he bring the letter requesting an extension of the approval of the I-129F to his interview with him if it is after August 9? Or should I mail the letter directly to the U.S. Interests Section? Because even if I mail it tomorrow, there is a possibility that the letter will not arrive in time. Please help me!

  10. Is there anyone on this thread who hasn't been approved yet? Even with an RFE at least you get something..but hearing nothing at all for like 7 months is pretty sad especially when you haven't seen your fiance in that waiting period..

I'm on day 211. Received my NOA 1 on August 27th. I got to visit my fiance for 2 months. The rest of the time we have been separated, which is especially heartbreaking since we cannot even Skype due to the limited internet access in Cuba. I hope everyone who is waiting gets approved soon!!! Hang in there!

  11. Hi everyone,

I am looking for a little advice or consolation. The Texas Service Center received my petition August 25, 2014 (NOA1 was dated August 27, 2014). I haven't heard anything since then. According to the USCIS site, our case was last "touched" December 9th. I know that we are still technically within the normal processing times, but the anxiety is starting to grow.

I met my fiance, who is Cuban, last spring when I was studying abroad in Havana. We had been together for 6 months (3 physically together and 3 long distance) when I submitted the petition. I read that processing can take longer if the beneficiary is from a country with a high fraud rate like Cuba, so I am wondering if that is why it is taking so long? We also have an 8 year age difference (I am 23 and he is 31), which I am concerned could be misinterpreted as something suspicious.

I would appreciate feedback. Hopefully I am just worrying too much.
