  1. My fiance was recently (July 20th) approved for her K1 visa and received her K1 package in the mail that she turns into immigration on her way to the USA. She and I are both concerned a little because she received her passport and the K1 visa documents package (the one where you aren't supposed to open it). We are wondering if her Birth Certificate is inside the package or if the embassy forgot to send it back. I have sent an e-mail to the embassy but it has been 3 days and we still haven't heard anything. We only have 15 days until she comes to the USA and we are wanting to make sure she has her birth certificate otherwise it might be a headache to get one ordered from ireland and shipped to us.

  2. Thats so funny. My fiancee's interview is Wednesday. She is asking me this morning how much stuff to bring. I told her to bring ALL of the stuff I sent her. She replied that someone told her that they only want to see what they asked for.

My reply to her was, A) Better to have more documents than not enough, B) If they ask for something, you have it in that 4 pounds of documents, and, C) There's something intimidating about 4 pounds of documents stacked 4 inches high that probably tells them you have your act together and anything they may want to throw at you is probably in those 4 file folders she has. :)

It's Wednesday, how did her interview go? I hope it went great!

  3. I read a few topics about babysitting before getting the work visa. My future wife is being offered to babysit for extra money while she waits for the work visa. Now I know this is still considered work but what if she didn't charge them but they gave me money instead for allowing their children to be in my house?

I'm not one to normally bend the law but the extra money would be a nice help. They would never be paying her for her services but paying me for allowing their children to be at my home. She'll just always happen to be there.

  4. I heard that depending on your zip code is how it depends where your application goes. I checked the USCIS website and it states that the Nebraska office is over my zip code.

Is this always the case? Or is it a flip of the coin?

And if it is the case, has anyone else been through the Nebraska service center and how long did it take to approve your k-1?

  5. I want to make sure I'm understanding this correctly because, in Ireland is takes 10-15 weeks to get our Police Certificates (They are WAY behind).

I do not see on the Step by Step K1 Fiance Visa guide that you are required to have Police Certificates but a friend of mine told me that his brother had to have one for his wife when she came over from the U.K.

So does my fiance need one? She has lived in Ireland her whole life and never worked "abroad".

  6. Just one check for $340.00.

The $265 will be paid later on for the visa, before the interview.

I'm not sure about those $100 that you're mentioning, the only other expense we had besides those two was the medical and plane ticket.

    Good luck!

    Don't forget your cover page!

Yeah I have a cover page! I forgot to mention it. Thanks a lot everyone!

  7. I am sending in the K-1 visa package on Monday and I was going to enclose a $340 money order from my bank, but now I see another fee of $265 and one for $100? I'm so lost, how much do I need to include with my K-1 Visa package?

I am from the USA, I am filing the K-1 Visa here. My fiance is in Ireland.

    I am including....

    G-1145 (e-Notification of Application Acceptance)

    I-129F (K-1 Visa)

Continuation of Suplement : Part 2, Question 34.a, explanation of meeting in person

    G-325A (Petitioner)

    Petitioner Passport Photo

    G-325A (Beneficiary)

    Beneficiary Passport Photo

    Petitioner Birth Certificate Front Copy

    Petitioner Birth Certificate Back Copy

    Petitioner Passport Copy

Petitioner Letter of Intent to Marry

Beneficiary Letter of Intent to Marry

Pastor Letter of Intent to Perform Marriage

Proof of Meeting in Last 2 Years (Airline Ticket Invoice, Itinerary, Passport Stamp, Pictures of us together)

Proof of ongoing relationship (Chat logs, skype logs, e-mails, letters, cards, pictures of personalized gifts)

If anyone could help me figure out exactly how much I need to make my money order out for it would be greatly appreciated!
