They received our applications on June 29th, and still no updates re. our EAD or AP. We did have an RFE though, so I am not sure if that will delay things for us.

We submitted a request to expedite our Form I-131 since my wife needs to head back to India on a family emergency. We submitted the request by calling the customer service center last Thursday, and our case history was updated indicating that an office had been assigned to the request, a response was sent via mail, and that the request has been completed.
I am assuming that since the status of the case wasn't change online, that our request to expedite wasn't approved. Anyone have any experience expediting the process of I-131?

Hi all, we received an RFE last week. I had submitted an English translation version of the birth certificate, and the RFE asked for us to send the original birth certificate in the actual language, as well as the English translation.
One question: do you know if it's OK if I send a copy of the RFE letter, or do I need to send the original one? I am traveling right now, and won't have the original RFE letter in my hands till early next week. Thanks!

We sent our file on June 29th, and I saw today that they sent us an RFE on July 22nd. Are a lot of people receiving RFEs? What are some of the most common issues? Does the RFE and the subsequent delay impact processing the EAD and AP?
-
Yup. We did. They wanted proof of his being issued a visa. Which we sent a copy of his visa from his passport. So we sent in a copy of the NOA2 from his K-1, a letter from the Montreal consulate he got, and a copy of the approved I-129 that the consulate gave him. They also mentioned they needed the 864 from the same person that sponsored him for the Visa. Which we sent. So we sent in another copy of the I-864, with my financial info.
We sent it late last week, so hopefully that will satisfy them. I've noticed that RFE's can happen with AOS frequently. I know of three other people personally who went through the process, and they all got RFE's for different things.
It's probably something silly, and nothing to worry about.
Yeah, no point getting stressed till we actually get the RFE letter in our hands. Do you know if this delay has an impact on processing the 131?

We sent our application in on June 29th, and got our NOA1 not too long after that. Got an appointment for biometrics on July 28th, and we got that done too. However, I just checked our status today and it indicates that on July 22nd, they sent us a notice for more evidence. Our case is "suspended" until we send them what they need.
Has anyone else gotten a RFE on their file? No idea what it might be, but I am hoping it's something simple.

Green cards take about a year if you get an interview waiver (which is most people). My travel or AP took 35 days.
Oh wow - only 35 days?! Can you tell me when you applied? Does the appointment for biometrics typically come before or after you get the AP approval, or there is no linkage between the two?

Hi all,
Given the recent technology issues, does anyone have an idea re. the timeline for getting 1. the travel document & 2. the greencard?
Would love to hear about some of your experiences. Thanks!

Our CEAC status indicates our file is ready, but the Bombay consulate has yet to reach out to us with instructions. Super frustrating.
I called them twice, but no email with Packet 3 or further instructions yet.
-
My status just turned from "In Transit" to "Ready". I realize this is country specific, but did you get instructions (Packet 3/4) via email or snail mail? I will be getting in touch with the Mumbai consulate soon, but just curious about what happens once your file is "Ready" at the country consulate.
-
Hi all, NVC forwarded our case to Mumbai a week ago, and tracking DHL, it seems that our case was delivered to the consulate earlier this week. However, our CEAC case status still indicates "In Transit".
1. When was your case status updated from "In Transit" to "Ready"?
2. Should I call the Mumbai consulate to make sure they have received it? I don't believe they have my fiance's email address, so I am not sure how they will send her instructions/Packet 3?
Thanks for all your help, and great to see cases moving forward.
-
Can you please fill in a timeline.
Have you been checking CEAC everyday and it just changed to in-transit or have you been checking here and there and notice it now say in-transit?
I am trying to figure out when it actually changed to in-transit.
What city is the Embassy in? I don't see one listed in Bombay, I see Chennel, Delhi, and Mumbai..assuming we are talking about India.
I checked on Wed. evening, and it indicated "Ready". Then I checked this morning and it indicated "In Transit". I then called NVC, and the lady mentioned that the case was shipped to Mumbai (Bombay) yesterday. It doesn't show up on DHL tracking yet though.
Have you submitted and paid for it? I've completed mine, but saved it for submission later. Different consulate, so not sure what the rules are for you. is your Packet 3 mailed or is it an email with a link to instructions?
One of the things I am wondering about if how will the consulate get in touch with the beneficiary? I went through all the email fields in the I-129 forms, and nowhere did they ask for the beneficiary's email.
I was told that the consulate will send this email both to the petitioner and the beneficiary, so I am hoping I will know when they send her Packet 3.

I just checked the status on the CEAC website, and it says it's in transit. However, I am trying to track on the DHL website and can't find anything going to Bombay for EXP 02 APR 2015A. Anyone else's file in transit?
I suppose the next steps depend on each individual consulate. It appears that for Bombay, we can't do the medical report or the PCC until my fiance actually has a letter from the consulate.
-
Just called the NVC, and I was able to get my Case #, Invoice #, and Beneficiary ID.
My understand is that now, all the next steps really depend on the individual consulate. Mine is Bombay, so time to begin figuring out what we can and cannot do now that we have the Case #.
-
Just called the NVC and was told that they received our file just today, and that it will take 42 days to enter it in their system. The good news is that they received it. It kinda baffles me that two different agents would give me two completely different information on our file.
-
One quick question for those who are sending their file to the Bombay consulate. Can the beneficiary begin on the PCC without having the case#?
We have received our NOA2, and are now waiting for it to reach NVC and have them forward the file to Bombay.
When should we send an email to the Bombay consulate? Thanks for all your help.
-
How are you able to confirm that NVC has received your file? Just by calling and confirming if they have a case # for you, right?
There are several others earlier in the thread who had their file shipped to the consulate a few days after it was received by NVC.
-
I think it's a case of a confused agent at NVC. Will try again later tonight and see what response I get.
-
I did a quick search on VJ, and it seems that this is a head fake. The file is forwarded to the consulate via NVC, so it hasn't reached NVC yet.

Hi all,
I just had a really weird conversation with the lady at the NVC. I called them to find if they have received my petition and if I can get a case number (was shipped from TSC on 3/23). First, she asked me for my Receipt #, and then she asked me to read the first two sentences from my NOA2 document. The NOA2 document says the following:
" The above petition has been approved, and forwarded to the listed consulate. Please contact the consulate with any questions about visa issuance, or if you would like them to forward the petition to a different consulate."
She told me that because the notice says that it's been forward to the consulate, you should call them there. I asked her whether it's supposed to reach NVC first, and that it would be forwarded from NVC to the appropriate consulate, and she said that sometimes it goes directly to the consulate.
Anyone know if this is true? Do the first two sentences in your letter indicate being forwarded to the consulate or NVC? Thanks!

Hi everyone - I have mostly been a reader and a lurker on here for the last few months. Just wanted to let everyone know that our file was approved today. My NOA1 date was Sept. 2, so approval came 193 days after filing.
I am just glad and grateful this part of the process is over. Now time to get ready for the next phase.

Congrats! How long did it take them to approve the EAD expedite after you faxed them the information? We have requested an expedite for my wife's Advanced Parole, and I just faxed them the evidence re. her family emergency.
