  1. Hi all,

Sorry we've been so quiet with updates, but we've been manic busy :help:

We had our interview on 10th May and everything was perfect aside from 2 documents which were needed. So we had to send off for another police letter & the other missing bit of paper.

We received everything we needed & had the courier collect everything on 19th May. The Embassy received the docs on 22nd May.

My dad contacted the congressman in Texas & they emailed the Embassy on Thursday 25th May...not sure if that helped or not but the Visa was approved on 26th May & we received it on the 27th.

SOOO flights are already booked for 30th May (TOMORROW!!) & we'll both be on it!

It of course would have been WORLDS easier if we'd had the needed docs on the 10th, but thankfully it has now been sorted!

Next time I post I'll be HOME!

  2. Sorry to hear about that!!! I hope it will not be too much of an issue for what is left to do or send!

We are missing 2004's tax return of my co-sponsor... I am a bit nervous because of that... we do have 2003 and 2005.... Hoping it will not be an issue!

    Good luck with the rest!

    Hello,

I think you'll like this then! The guy we saw at desk 14 (his name is John) said that the only one they need is the most CURRENT. He gave me back 2 of the yrs given for both me & the co sponsor. I told him it took ALOT of work to get those & he said that it was a new "rule".

I'd say take the ones you have...you should be fine.

Just to be sure, shoot them off an email making sure though...never know if Mr. John was talking out his lala

    GL at your interview!!

  3. Hi All,

I want to thank you all for your well wishes for my hubby's interview today.

Our appointment was scheduled for 9:30am. We arrived at 8:40am and had our ticket at 8:55am (surprisingly fast!).

Our number was 009 & we were seen right at 10:00am. We were first called to desk number 14 where my hubby gave his documents to the clerk. He mentioned that we were missing 2 documents (one from co sponsor & one for hubby). He said the officer would discuss with us.

We went and sat back down and was then called to desk number 13. The woman we saw was very nice & helpful (although she put me on "mute" so that hubby answered all of the questions).

She then told us that my brother (co sponsor) forgot to send a document so said he could fax or email to me and that it wouldn't be a problem.

She also said that my hubby needed another police certificate as he has had a name change (DOH!!!).

We spent the rest of the day sorting out his new request for the police certificate hoping that it goes quickly.

SOOOOO long story short...Embassy experience was good-no issues there. Interview was also painless. The documents we had were "PERFECT" aside from those 2 missing pieces of paper.

My brother is sending his missing doc (proof of citizenship...again DOH!!!) tomorrow & we have our fingers crossed for the speed of the police certificate.

Once both documents are received, we simply post them with his passport back to the Embassy (with a blue slip of paper) and the greencard will be issued.

Either way, I will be flying out to Houston on 30th May (because of the pooches) and we are hoping against hope that the police certificate arrives in time for hubby to fly with me.

If not, we are getting prepared for him to stay on & join me at the end of June.

I'm honestly in a bit of shock at the minute as I was convinced that we had EVERYTHING-but alas  we didn't (note to self...ALWAYS check the documents I had nothing to do with!)

I hope that the other interviews this week have and or will go swimmingly & again thanks for the well wishes!

  4. Congrats!

May I ask how you went to the UK? On a fiance visa that costs 500 quid?

Were you able to work on it? I don't think so, but I want to make sure. Then, after getting married, are you able to work while waiting for your papers?

    I really appreciate any answers!

    Hello,

I got a fiance visa while I was in the states. It was good for 6 months. I then had to apply for a temporary residence visa which was good for a year. During that time I was unable to work. Once that visa was close to expiring, I went to Croydon (The Home Office) and applied for my permenent residence visa. This allowed me to work. I used what they call a temporary NIS number until I was able to apply for one of my own.

    Hope this helps :)

  5. Hi All,

Thanks for your responses & well wishes!

Furball, the airline won't fly them into TX due to the exessive heat in the summer, which is good in a way because I know they're just looking out for the best interests of the dogs.

Senka-GOOD LUCK with your interview! So exciting! Let us know what happens at your interview...I'll be taking loads of notes from you ;)

Easycome-the dogs have had some VERY nice treats today  They don't get why and they'd hate us if they had any idea what's in store for them...but they do seem to enjoy being spoiled :D

  6. Hello,

My hubby & I are relocating to Austin, TX at the end of may (we got his interview date today-05/10/06!! ).

He's a bit worried that he's going to have to watch the world cup alone...so I was wondering, are any of you ex pat Brits in Austin?

If so, shoot me off a message & we can talk about meeting up

  7. Hi All,

    An update!

We received packet 4 through the post today with an interview date of 10th May

We sent packet 3 on the 5th of April so we're shocked at how quickly they've come back to us.

We sent 3 emails requesting information as packet 3 was lost in the post when they sent it to us-just to confirm they received it.

We also told them we wanted to fly to Houston, TX by the end of May because we have 2 dogs & no animals can fly into the state with BA between 1st June-15th September...so mabye that helped.

    WOO HOO so excited!

  8. gosh that was a fast appointment! I've got my MMR and tetanus booked at the GP surgery for the 26th of this month and I was gonna call Knightsbridge and get an apointment but I dont want one THAT quick! I want to make sure I have all my vaccinations listed (which the surgery said I cud get as soon as I have the 2 I need for AOS) Do they give you choices as far as dates go?

I don't want to wait and wait to call and delay things so if you can say when u can go (ie, after a certain date and not before) - do they go by that? Or it 'take this or nothing' kinda deal?

    Hi,

I'm not sure what they go by as far as booking...I'm guessing that they just put you in the nearest available. If you know when you'll have all of your vaccinations, you could call & make an appointment for after that mabye-the receptionist was very nice so I don't think it would hurt to try. At least you'd know you have one rather than waiting until the last minute

Wish I'd gone for the jabs at my GP...would have been about £60.00 up if I'd thought about it

  9. Hi, I just wanted to give you a quick run down of my medical appoinment.

I phoned on the 3rd & was given an appointment on the 7th at 10:10am...very quick I thought.

My wife & I arrived at the Knightsbridge tube station at 9:20am. We stopped for a bite to eat & some coffee.

Got to the doctors office right at 10:00. Was told to go straight up to the top floor-the receptionist there gave me a questionaire to fill out. Within 5 minutes of sitting down, I was called for an x-ray then was called pretty shortly thereafter by the nurse who said I had to have two injections (Tetnis & MMR).

The receptionist then sent us to the second floor where we waited to see the doctor. We were in the waiting room for about 20 minutes-then the doctor called me in.

She did a general exam & sent me on my way.

Went back upstairs & paid for the honour of being jabbed (god I love it).

We were there for right at an hour.

I was told that the embassy would have my medical exam results by Thursday (16th April).

So that's that...one more step closer to being able to move to Texas

All in all, it was a fairly straight foward simple process.

Sorry if this isn't very detailed...my wife normally posts these things (but she made me do it as it was me who had the appointment) .

Now we just wait for the interveiw date :D

  10. Pretty simple, but it worked :D

  11. -The pay-to-call line is in Scotland, has no immigration staff working there & are paid contractors, not US gov't employees. I really don't know what the point of that line is. If you need case-specific help, I urge you to email London's IV unit.

You are correct regarding the pay to talk line. We phoned them to get an update as they have the info from their computer system and are able to give immediate updates rather than waiting for 2 days+ for a response (yes...we're a bit impatient  )

-Jack & Tam knew that their P3 had been generated---different from sending your forms in early. I m all for getting an early start on things, but London is a very big, very busy Consulate. If you go outside of their established system, you run the risk of your papers being lost, not matched up to your I-130 and potentially needing to resend them. I do not think one would get a jump on the queue by sending in P3 documents before the Consulate actually has your case. Rmember that the I-130 is handled by a totally different branch of the gov't and you need to wait a bit to get into the Consulate's system.

Mickndarcyjo, I'd say just get everything gathered, photocopied, in an envelope and ready to send out as soon as you hear from the Consulate.

I was told that we could send in the forms before we had the info, but was also told that our documents wouldn't be touched until the I-130 was approved-so I would highly suggest waiting for your case ref number as this will cut back on the chances of yor paperwork getting lost/misplaced.

  12. I was just wondering....Once our I-130 is approved, can we just automatically send in the next round of forms, or do we have to wait for the embassy to give us the go-ahead?

Our packet 3 got lost in the post (stupid royal mail!!!) so I've been on with the pay to talk people who said we should just download the forms online (woulda been nice if they'd told me that 2 wks ago!). They said to send it through the courier they use.

  13. Thanks for that update!

I guess I'd better modify my "two weeks" to say that within that timeframe, you would know if your case is NOT accepted. I didn't realize that I-130 processing was taking quite that long in London (2 months), but as you say, the holiday schedule may have interfered with your case.

    Hey,

No problem...at present, the USCIS site says they're processing I-130's in about 2 months.

For updates on times, please go to http://www.usembassy.org.uk/dhs/uscis/i130filing.html . This is the site my NOA1 gave.

"— Processing Times — As of March 6, 2006 we are processing petitions filed on January 10, 2006."

My hubby and I were looking at it every other day hoping they'd gotten to our date  I think it made seem longer though

  14. Hello All,

A quick intro...my hubby & I have been married for 5 yrs & have been living in the UK. We are currently in the process of filing DCF (London) to get him his greencard so that we can move to the States.

I have been wondering around your website and found it to be very helpful to date

Thank you for all of the info you have made available for those of us just starting out on this journey.
