Hi,  we got the standard 1 year extension letter last year.  My wife's 2 year card expires on March 12, 2019.

Our baby is due March 31 to April 6th - and I need to make sure we can renew my wife's NC drivers license

as it expires on March 12th when her green card extension expires.  I tried making an appointment at

our local office online, but the infopass system says this office is not accepting appointments.  When

I try calling the USCIS phone number I just get a menu system that goes in circles and never gives me

an option to speak with a live person.

Does anyone know what number I can call to speak to someone about extending her current card until

the 10 year card is approved?  I just want to get her drivers license renewed so she can get to doctors

    appointments, etc...

We never got the 18 month extension.

    Thanks much.

    I-751 sent Dec. 27th, 2018

    NOA - 01/03/2018

    Biometrics - 01/31/2018

    Congratulations on your upcoming baby!

This was the same situation I was in, except replace baby’s due date with needing to travel.  I never received the 18 month letter.

At the bottom of the page where it says your office isn’t accepting appointments there’s a little paragraph that says:

“If you need help with document services (such as passport stamps and advance parole) or have an emergency, call the USCIS Contact Center at 1-800-375-5283. USCIS representatives are available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Eastern except on federal holidays.”

I called and they had someone call me back to schedule me at the office that wasn’t accepting appointments online.

As @Amhara said,  I believe whoever processed the inquiry may have just approved my case as it was suddenly approved 3 days later, the same day as my new infopass appointment, and my 10 year greencard arrived within the week.

I’ll add that I did submit an online inquiry as well but all of the above occurred before I even heard a response from them, which was about a month.

  2. I hope I don't mess the format up, but hoping for all of your approvals soon!

I also tried to fix the typo on crazycat.

  3. My case updated today to new card being produced after no change since being received at local office last April.

I did call USCIS on Friday to schedule an infopass appointment, since my 12 month extension was nearing expiration (never received the 18 month) and that appointment is today at noon.  I’m not sure if that caused some movement or not.

I did not file N-400 and the first digits of my case are EAC18083XXXXX.

    Hi,

My one-year extension will expire this month. Still, my application is in the local office. I had applied Dec 2017.   How to get stamped in I-551. Can anybody tell me what procedure to follow? I am worried because I am going to travel in May this year.

My one year extension is also expiring soon and I never received an 18 month extension letter.  The USCIS office near me is not accepting infopass appointments or walk-ins, and I travel in a couple weeks (letter expires soon after in March).

@emerlee85 was that a request through USPS or USCIS?  Although I would assume it's too late for us at this point.

  5. Check cashed 12/27, received NOA1 12/29 dated 12/24

    8. Always use [Courier New] Font and font size.[12]

  7. I would suggest trying to book your medical about 5 months before February, so September-ish, with an interview date closely after. It still allows you to use your visa within the 6 month time frame to enter the US but also gives you a lot of time should something happen with your visa or application in terms of administration or at the interview i.e. a 221g or loss of paperwork etc. *knocks on wood*.

So many people make wedding preparations and find out they cannot make it to their own wedding in time! You have plenty of time so definitely use it to your advantage and try and schedule the medical as early in the 6 month time frame as possible, just in case. :)

  8. Getting your marriage license is either state or county specific (I can't remember). The marriage license must be acquired before you get married. For us we had to wait 72 hours for our license, and then we had to use it within 28 days to get married. Check with the Vital Statistics office where you live, it should be on their website too. It will tell you how many days to wait for the license and how long you have to use it. This for sure will need to be done before the I-94 expires as you cannot get married without it!

The marriage certificate will be picked up after your wedding and a copy of it will have to be submitted with the AOS papers. Again, as long as you are married, you can file whenever it is convenient for you.

  9. The date on the I-94 is the date that you must be married by, not the date that you must file AOS by. It is ok to file for adjustment of status after that date, it is just not preferable because during that time your fiancee will be out of status until it is filed.

So if your marriage certificate takes that little bit longer to be ready (mine only took a week), it's ok! Don't panic. You can wait to file AOS when it is available :)

  10. You've been very unlucky with these! I'm sorry

If it's the cost that's worrying you (passport photos ARE ridiculously overpriced!) my suggestion would be to scan the Walmart ones and set them both up in a 4x6 photo size and print it off at Target for like 20c, and then just cut them out. I did this for my AOS application because I'd already spent $30+ on passport photos beginning with K-1. I even took the photos myself and they were fine.

I'm pretty DIY like that and don't mind taking some extra time to save a few bucks :P. If it's the hassle that's bothering you (because that is a LOT of hassle!) then I would do what others have suggested and find an alternative place to get them done, where they will be cut with sharp edges, no white borders and on glossy print!

  11. I corrected my mother in law's affidavit in pen because she typed in estimates and I wanted the exact numbers in there. I had no issues with it however the instructions do say that the form uses the 2D barcode technology, which means that as information is typed, the barcode at the bottom of the page changes to reflect the unique information of your specific document. If you handwrite corrections, then the barcode won't reflect that. Like I said, I didn't have an issue with it - the numbers I changed also weren't significantly different to the ones originally entered. But it's something to consider!

    Good luck with everything :)

  12. My EAD had to be reviewed too. I went in to the DMV basically a day after getting my EAD card and the lady ran it through SAVE and had to submit a case inquiry to verify it because it wouldn't show it up as verified. I'm not sure if that is standard procedure, or if they didn't really need to do that as yuna628 is suggesting above. Regardless, it took them 3 weeks to call me back but everything turned out fine in the end. This was in New Jersey. Hope it helps!

Editing to add: Neither myself nor the DMV, before or after verification, knew why it needed to be verified!

  13. Yes it is first come first serve - for my 7:40am appointment I got there at 7am with one other K-1 interviewee in front of me. When you go in, wait in a seat closest to the elevator, and then once the elevator opens, wait near the back doors, as they are the ones that open when you get to your floor. I was the first one called to the window and second to be interviewed and was out by 9am. Good luck :)

  14. I am just being paranoid I guess...!!! I just need to relax haha

I had my green card interview yesterday and we were asked this question! It was a very relaxed interview but he did ask us where my fiancé proposed to me (private room at our favourite sushi place was all I answered), if anyone else was present (no), and was I expecting it (I said we'd talked about marriage but I didn't know he was going to do it right then) and then he moved on.

Just truthfully answer what they ask - no need to offer extra information :)

  15. I would just take the SSN card to the DMV and tell them to use that info. Maybe go to a different DMV office; you may get better service there...

I gave them the SSN with the EAD because it's required as part of the 6 point ID verification system here in NJ.

Is your SSN in your maiden name? They made me change mine to my married name to match the EAD and I'm just waiting on that to get my license... if you have those both in your married name you should try going to the DMV in Mt. Holly, they are pretty helpful / not stupid most of the time

Nope, married name, and I this has all happened at the one in Mt. Holly! They have been extremely helpful with my car and license for the most part. I checked SAVE today and the inquiry has been completed and sent back to the DMV so I'm just waiting for them to call me and let me know about it and tell me what was wrong.

  16. Hey everyone - update here.

I just checked my mail today and I received an I-485 interview letter for March 16th in Mt Laurel, NJ.

The USCIS website (actually the entire system) seems so unorganized for me. My I-485 status hasn't changed since Nov. 18th and still shows Fingerprint Fee Received, even though I have the appointment letter now. My I-131 AP status changed to RFE the same day that my I-765 EAD changed to Card was Mailed, however I received a combo card for both EAD and AP in the mail a few days later. I called USCIS about this and they submitted a service request to find out about the real I-131 status 9 days ago and it has still not been assigned for processing. I recently received the I-797 that also says both are approved.

Meanwhile, the DMV is telling me that my EAD isn't verifying in SAVE and they have submitted a case inquiry to USCIS also about that. There is one more business day left in that time frame to respond, but I don't have my hopes up (lol). So I am still stuck with a Canadian license. I am worried that this problem with my EAD will affect me applying for jobs :(

Summary: I wish USCIS was perfectly perfect!
