The actual refusal has a short paragraph like the one he attached. The new AP says refused but it has a long paragraph explaining that the case is undergoing a AP. Sadly. his refusal is actual.

Not true. My wife refusal was the same and it was due to public charge. She was asked to provide more documents after my situation has changed.

Thank you so much for the information. Was there a very critical reason the people gave to be granted Visa's? I thought I have joined the Nigerian forum.

My wife submitted some documents yesterday. She was interviewed in February and shortly after that, there was lockdown. People that are getting visas now were interviewed before the lockdown. But I heard that some are getting interview dates now for next month. Not quite sure about this but someone told me that.

Hi everyone, I really need help here. Visa journey guided me all through my journey getting to the united states and I am here again for guidance. My fiances is in nigeria and I want to get married to him and bring him here. With the recent immigration ban etc , it is really frustrating my efforts. I don't know what else to do and it's really affecting our relationship. Can anyone advice me please. Is Nigerian embassy open? I was considering visiting nigeria every now and then and maybe he does the same till the ban is lifted. PLEASE HELP

This ban doesn't hold again since February. There is a waiver. Many people have been granted visas. Even last week, some were granted immigrant visas. You need to join the forum for Nigeria to get updated information.

    Hi, all.

I applied for my son and his application was originally under F2A, but he aged out and it was changed to F2B.
    Dates:

    - Priority Date: January 12, 2016 (F2A)

    - Approval date: May 4, 2016 (F2A)

    - Aged out and category changed: Jan 10, 2018

    - Country: Colombia. He is still there.

Hopefully we can receive a WL soon.

    Thanks.

His welcome letter won't come before 2013.

  5. Today, I got the following message from US Embassy in Nigeria. That's a reply to my email

    "

The beneficiary was found ineligible for the visa under Section 212(a)(4) of the INA. In making a public charge determination, the consular officer reviews all evidence provided, considers the totality of the circumstances and makes a determination.

Please note that while there is no waiver for this ineligibility, it can be overcome.  Should you have additional evidence to show that the beneficiary will not become a public charge, that can be submitted for up to one year."

I do understand all interviews have been halted. My concern is going through NVC again meaning we lost our original position of being in line from Dec 2019 and now we will get a new date and in line again when we get the new DQ. This means at least 6 months’ delay once the interviews resume :( that’s why I am desperate :’(

also, the passport office is closed due to the current situation and I don’t know when I can get a passport for my child. This also adds delay :(

Hey don't wait to get passport before you proceed. In my wife's case, I called NVC and they asked me to submit a letter that due to the age of my baby that the data page of the passport would be submitted at the time of interview at the embassy. Write a letter and upload it in place of the passport data page. That's what I did and 10 days after she got DQ. However, you will submit it at the interview.

My documents were originally qualified and completed at the NVC stage in Dec 2019 and was waiting for an interview letter. My child was born in Feb 2020 and I was told by NVC that I could wait for the interview letter and then contact the consulate to add my child.

However, recently my lawyer added the birth certificate of my child in the CEAC and now my child was listed as one of the accompany application. NVC asked us to pay the fee and the submit all required documents - we haven't obtained a passport for our child yet. I contacted NVC and they explained now that the child was added, my case was no longer complete and it will only be complete after I submit my child's documents etc and NVC reviews them. In that case, it means it would take another few months for my case to be complete and be put into the waiting queue for an interview again. Is there anything I can do to undo this action? My understanding is adding the child with the Consulate would be much faster than going through the NVC process again. Highly appreciate any advice and I felt desperate now - we have been waiting for 4 years and could not afford another few more months delay, especially the child was just born 😢

I was in your situation before. My wife's application only took 10 days to get DQ. The problem now is that it might take longer because NVC workers from home.

Is there any way we can get an insurance for both of us? (I’m not living in USA or even been there).

    But he lives there.

-what insurance is eligible? And where can we get it? Any idea?

You may ask your petitioner. The embassy is supposed to explain all these, but no, they won't. I have taken a job a part time job to see if I can get above the 125% above poverty level for a family of 3. After a month, I will resubmit.

Hey, my case is under f2a category and waiting for IL atm.

I want to get an insurance, but what insurance should we get?? Can anyone pls help me what’s the criteria? Can we get any travelers insurance or is there any specific category? Someone pls leave the link below.

Also, my petitioner (my husband) doesn’t have an insurance, but he never took any assistance from government, could this cause any problem?

    Thanks in advance!!

My wife was refused on public charge rule. I just came out of school in December. Have never taken any government benefit. Used a co-sponsor who is a brother and earn a lot. Just that I worked 20 hours per week in order to concentrate on my education. My wife was not told how to overcome the refusal. I sent an email to the embassy, no reply. I read about the factors to consider in public charge calculation and I passed. I used a co-sponsor which is available for people with insufficient income. My credit record score is currently 768.

For insurance, it is difficult for people outside the US. I have not seen any.

Do u mean u got the notification after interview? I think it's a short version of i-864 used when ur income alone is what u are using to sponsor a single applicant. I may be wrong though. I will suggest u check on their website for the purpose of the form and give them a call if you are still confused. It may be a mistake.

Yes after the interview. I submitted the application with a co-sponsor. I just don't understand this stuff? I will call NVC.

My interview is end of this month, and US government has place ban on Nigeria for issuance of immigrants visa, I’m so confused and what is my hope, how will the new law affect me,

Both of us are in the same situation. My wife's interview is after Feb 21. I understand from people it will be denied unless the travel ban is lifted. What happens if the ban is not lifted and the waiver is not approved? Will it result in a fresh application?

My friend got a text to come for passport pick up at dhl yesterday so good news is embassy is still issuing or maybe since the ban hasn’t taken effect yet. Am sure u also heard about the efforts Nigerian Gov is making to comply wit whatever us needs as to this regards then on the other hands the the us congress is also goin to vote to over turn this ban and limit presidents ability to solely make such decisions without going through the house. I came across this "The current ban suspends immigrant and non-immigrant visas to applicants from the affected countries, but it allows exceptions, including for students and those who have established "significant contacts" in the US." in the article you posted.

Who knows the meaning of  "significant contacts"? It's possible that we are in that category. My wife's interview is on 24 Feb. Embassy has not notified her not to come.

A very troubling situation especially for most us at this stage waiting for an interview date. Not sure theirs anything much we can do now but to share any info that will further expose us to wat is ahead. Let’s see how they handle pple wit interview dates already, God help us all

My wife is still traveling to Lagos for medical exam. I asked her to do so since she has an interview letter and there is no email from NVC that stops her from attending.

The problem is that non-immigrant visas is not included.

This is outright racism,  I cant stand. You can bank immigrant visas and allow non immigrants visa.

What I understand from some articles I read is that some Nigerians with non-immigrant visas come and stay. They don't go back but instead, they fight to obtain green cards through other means. To stop that and get our government to cooperate, he banned immigrant visa of any category for Nigeria. But that's shameful because our spouses did not commit any crime neither did we.
