  1. The interview is for adjustment of status based on marriage. The supporting evidence is mostly photographs going back ten years of us being together and our rental agreements. We also have a joint bank account open in the UK.

We will of course answer our questions truthfully, however when they ask "Why did you decide to get married?" I'm guessing it would be silly to mention that it would help us in moving to he US?

  2. Hello VJ People,

My wife and I have our interview coming up, and some questions I would appreciate some guidance on are "Why did you get married?" "Where's the ring" "Why don't you have any photos"

We have been together for 10 years (9 before we got married). We are obviously in a genuine relationship, however a big factor in our decision to get married was the US green card. We went to the registry office Sept 16th and traveled to the US in early November. None of our family members where at the wedding and there were no rings or photos.

Is it appropriate to say we got married for legal reasons and financial security? And that we wanted it to be private?

    Thanks in advance.

  3. Thanks guys. I foolishly didn't apply for in with my other applications because the whole thing was stressing me out and I just wanted to get the important forms off. The fee is still waived if the I-485 is in process, so it didn't cost me anything apart from a little extra stress at this stage!!

    Thanks again all!

  4. Hi All,

I have been granted my EAD and am waiting on my green card interview. My brother is getting married in Taiwan in August, and I had planned to fly out on August 6th.

Is anyone able to shed some light on the processing time for the I-131? I filed it about 10 days ago, and still not notification of receipt from USCIS. Do I stand a reasonable chance of my advanced parole being processed in time? I want to book my flights now, but am worried that I won't receive approval in time and waste my money.

    Thanks in advance.

    Fellow patient immigrant!

  5. My wife submitted her tax returns yesterday. This is the first time she has submitted US tax returns, and we are unsure if they have been completed correctly. If there is a error on the tax return forms that we've missed, will USCIS still accept them? We will be submitting other supporting information for proof on income such as pay slips and employer letter.

Thank you all again in advance!

  6. I have submitted applications for I-130, I-485 and I-765. I have since received a request for further information with 87 days. USCIS have requested federal income tax returns from my wife (petitioner) for the most recent tax year. We have recently moved from the UK where my wife held residency, and as such was not required to file for federal income tax return. I have explained this in a letter with my initial application, and I don't understand why I need to resubmit this.

USCIS are also requesting for W2s, 1099s, 2555 for the most recent tax year, and for reasons explained above none of these records are available.

Finally, they have stated "based on the documents submitted with form I-864 for the petitioner, the income did not meet 125% of the poverty guideline for the petitioner's household size." It is only my wife and I in the property and she earns $72,000, which is over and above the $19,912 required.

Please help! I'm not sure what to do. Is it worth paying for an immigration attorney?
