  1. I just went through this here in Texas. If you get a card on your spouse's account it does not help to properly gather credit...some card companies won't use that as your credit it at all....you would simply have signing authority on the card but it does not help with your credit.

At Wells Fargo they added me to my wife's account and then they offer a "secured credit card". Basically you pay between 300-5000 dollars depending on what you want the card limit to be and they give you that card and you use it and it helps to build up quick credit. Once you have used it and built up credit for a year they give you the money back you put in to begin with and then convert the card to a regular credit card and increase the limit from there.

Just another suggestion in a confusing situation!

  2. I just crossed the border with all my stuff and car from Winnipeg last week at the Pembina North Dakota crossing. I had made a list of all my stuff and the car compliance letter from Diamler Chrysler. I also had a cat with all the paper work

When I got to the border they looked at my passport and asked if I had any beef and to go on through and then walk the package in. They took about 45 minutes stumbling through the package and they said thats all i needed. They never looked at any of the cat, car, or moving items and said thats all they needed.

However some places do require that letter of compliance so yes its a good thing to have. You will need it to register the car in the US for sure...atleast here in Texas you do!

    Good Luck!

    Hi there...

I'm sure there's a thread out there somewhere about taking your car across the border but I don't remember seeing any about going through the Peace Arch crossing.

I will be moving to Honolulu when my visa is approved, so unfortunately I can't just drive there! I found a company who specializes in shipping from the West Coast to the Hawaiian islands. However, I have to drive my car from Vancouver to a port in Seattle to do so.

I have my letter from the Canadian manufacturer that says my car is A-OK. Just wondering if I need to get a letter of approval from EPA and/or is there anything else I need to prepared to show at customs? Did you have to pay duty?

    Thanks a bunch!!

  3. I have a question on the vehicle compliance letter. I just spoke with Chrysler Canada about getting this and I was wondering is this needed when I enter the US with my vehicle to get through customs or is this only when I have to register the vehicle. They told me the info I needed and then they said it is forwarded to the US as it is needed when registering the vehicle? I am confused on this. What information do I need when I cross the border with my vehicle?

Thanks alot for any help that can be provided

  4. As far as the timeline to get the medical done for a K3 I couldn't give you any specifics.

However on the medical front there are 2 doctors in Manitoba...in Winnipeg to be exact that do the immigration medicals and they are easy to get into.

I dealt with Dr Singer and since you pay for the appointment they fit you in quickly. I could have had it down within the same week as making my call but had to wait to the following week to get there. They had all the results back in about 6 business days for me so its pretty quick there as well. The medical took all of about 30 minutes including the wait...about 5-10 minutes with the doctor and then a wait for a moment to get my blood tests. Of course you need to go get the chest X ray usually at a diffrent place though but that only takes a few moments!

Hope I could be of some help!

  5. I am waiting for my packet 3 from Vancouver as well. It has been there a long time.

I emailed them at the begning of the week and they said it was sent out last week....and still nothing so I guess I will email them to look into this again!

  6. I just got an approval letter about an hour ago...yes 1:30AM that my case was approved on July 25!

    NOA1 date was March 9

RFE Recieved at CSC on July 6th

I want to thank you all for the help thus far in this process!

Good luck to everyone else still waiting. Things appearing to be moving now and hopefully it wont be long before the next approval posted!

  7. I would assume the information recieved from the Ohio Senator on this yesterday that they had started processing was correct obviously. What that information also stated sadly is that they will process them based on RFE received dates. So far it too early to say if that is the case but the person who was approved had an RFE date of July 3 I believe?? My NOA1 was March 9 and RFE recieved back on the 6th so I would assume this looks to also be true that the RFE recieved date is the date they are going to be using for this which is crazy for all the people waiting since early March like yourself and I.

  8. I am sure its just a canned reponse.

I used to work in a tech support job for a phone company. I worked actual hands on suppot but there was people that would recieve email support questions and they had a nice interface that they would click a button that basically replied based on the type of question asked and put there signature to it based on there logged in ID and hit click complete and then it would pop up the next one...I am sure this is probably not much diffrent.

In one day a tech would go through maybe 500 email questions and even when the person got irrate and wanted more then just the canned response they would click the appropriate button and that nice complete button and send it back because thats what there job is and thats the approved responses they are given.

Some customer service groups believe that its all about the quick response but they fail to factor in the quality of such reponse.

  9. That is the correct link that can get you information on the processing time line. The K1 Visa is considered Non Immigrant visa. The non immigrant portion being a foreigner who is given temporary 90 day entrance to the US in which to legally marry and then they adjust status and fill for immigration.

  10. Yeah have to agree this is getting to be just pathetic at this point. I mean I seriously doubt those people could manage there way out of a wet paper bag over there.

I mean what did they do in the 2 months or so that they stopped processing...I guess the answer is pretty clear that they did nothing...I mean all the cases up to the IMBRA deadline should have been taking care of but it appears that was not the case.

The other sad part of this is that it may be a government organization but people are paying for a service and that does not guarantee them anything per say....but I think it does guarantee an answer to there questions and why everything has to be run like its all one big secret is beyond me. People should not have to go to senators to be able to get an answer there should be some tranparency in the process.....now maybe the reason they aren't giving an answer is because after 2.5 months they still dont have a clue....time will tell I guess!

  11. Yes I think were getting closer. As far as the statement ALOT of people in February I am not sure exactly where that comes from. If you search from the start of February until March 6 there were 50 that come up and 42 have NOA2 already....of the others in the timeline search some of them have not logged into this site since February and March so I am not sure about the alot statement although I am sure there is a few. There was a few people stuck way behind pre IMBRA...not sure why but it appears they didn't get picked up for whatever reason and they carried on with the rest. That has been the case before and appears to be the same now so I guess my only hope for everyone is that they are infact moving along and I hope nobody gets left behind!

  12. Yeah its up there now as March 3 you may need to force a refresh on your browser.

I would assume though that the dates probably dont mean a whole lot if the couple of strange emails people have recieved the last day or so are actually approvals. If that is the case then it would look like there is no real pattern to this at all. But hopefully they will follow a first come first serve pattern and if so then this is good news to see!

    Good Luck!

  13. Should be fine to get an electronic ticket as its not exactly as it sounds. You can purchase the ticket through electronic means but you get to the airport you get a paper ticket of some sort before you go through immigration/customs so you do actually have a boarding pass. By electronic means you can buy online or even at some travel agencies but basically they want you to use a computer to punch in when you get to the airport and print your ticket out...you need this physical boarding pass piece of paper to go through security and the such as they look at this to verify you have a reason to be moving through these locations so electronic in a sense...but in the end you will still have a physically boarding pass of some type as proof.

  14. I guess it would depend on how quickly you want to be with your loved one at this point. The k1 process is slow going with the backlog right now but it is probably your safest bet to actually being together sooner.

The current Worker Visa class is capped out and they will not accept anymore applications until April 1, 2007 with the earliest start date of October 1, 2007. With that being said without a degree or some other very fancy qualifications it appears that its very tough. There are exemptions to this but in order for them to apply you MUST have an advanced degree for this to be an option.

I have researched alot of this being Canadian and falling under the TN visa and the company I work with allows temporary exchanges setup under this....but again its an extremly LONG term process and then trying to change status or get married after your there is another thing as well!

I hear your on the long wait for this stuff too....due to the changes I have been waiting around 125 days now to get a NOA2 from CSC for the K1 visa but I think it may be your best bet to stick with and fight it out!

    Good Luck!

  15. I too got the same message this afternoon and have already gotten the RFE and sent it back so there just running a little behind the times...I guess its a good update as there is proof there still working and trying to get everything caught up and back on track.AND...hey who knows maybe by the end of the week they may finally acknowledge they recieved them back!
