Regarding InfoPass appointments, we've experienced the same problems and have never been able to schedule an appointment. However, my wife just went in first thing in the morning and was able to get a walk-in appointment. It actually worked out better than if she had scheduled an appointment since it's all the same queue. She was able to get her passport stamped until November.

Isn't an interview for a I-751 not necessarily a good thing? Most people don't have an interview. Isn't it only used when they are taking a second look at someone's application?

So, my manager at work had an appointment with USCIS. His wife is going through an I-751 process which started in August of last year so he gives me status updates since he's a few months ahead of us. They still have not gotten the 10 yr GC (hence the appointment).
They got the one year extension stamp. The officer said it's going slow because they are understaffed and there have been a lot of fraudulent applications which have required more screening/time. He also said they are probably 6-8 months away from getting their GC, meaning, we'd be about a year away from today.

Mike, another issue that you might run into is even getting the visa approved. A lot of places require that the residence card not expire within 15-30 days of departure back to the US. I couldn't find a specific policy for the Bahamas, but they can still deny you for that.

My wife (whose the one under AOS) and I have traveled to Canada via car in May (after her GC expired). We had no issues with either border crossing. We're also traveling to Europe in a month and she required a Schengen visa. She had her appointment this past week. She told me that the consular officer first said they couldn't accept the letter as proof of re-entry, but then he asked his boss who said it was okay. She then got approved and was told that the rest of the Schengen area had to approve (but that there should be no issues). We'll find out for sure this week when the passport comes back.

Biometrics letter came today. Really relieved with the appointment time as my wife is traveling for work all of next week.

Most recent being my January statement (I think the dates were Dec. 13-Jan. 12). In terms of how many months, I've read that folks have done the last 24 or 36 months. I was originally going to do the first/last statement, but figured it was overkill in our situation. Depending on what your other evidence is, having the last 24-36 months (or from whenever the account was opened) might be worthwhile.

I wouldn't necessarily ask the bank to do anything. You could just print out the statements (I just did the most recent one, but others sent in their entire history of statements).

Personally, I think that USCIS understands that you wouldn't have your 2016 return in if you filed in January, especially since you have until April. When we had our interview a few years ago for our AOS (in March), they knew that we weren't under any obligation to have filed our taxes for the past year.
Different topic, but even when we bought our house (was pre-approved in March 2016, they didn't have an issue when we didn't have our 2015 tax returns, but when we got final approval in Oct/Nov 2016, they did want our 2015 tax return), it wasn't an issue.

Our check was cashed as of yesterday. Now just waiting for the NOA letter and the biometrics appointment. About the biometrics appointment though, what are "legitimate" excuses for rescheduling? My wife has a work trip from Feb. 6-Feb. 10, and I'm concerned about it being scheduled during then.

January filer here as well! My wife's Conditional GC is expiring on 3/31. We mailed it on 1/20 (Friday), and it was received at the California location on 1/23 (Monday).
Just for reference, we included.

Got it. How about if my assets are 5x the poverty level for my household size+intended immigrant? Then would I even need a joint sponsor?

Thanks! Will the joint sponsor have to be employed? I was thinking about asking my father. He was employed last year but is now running his own consulting firm. He has substantial assets. My mother is retired.

Hi all,
I have just received the letter for a green card interview at the end of March. This is for my wife. I am a US Citizen and therefore the sponsor. Our application was filed in September. When the application was filed, I was working a contract position. I had the necessary paystubs, income, etc. My previous tax returns are satisfactory for the $24K limit, and I have about $100K worth of assets. However, my contract position ended, and I have been traveling/unemployed for the past 3 months (family emergency). On the interview letter, it said that the sponsor needs to provide paystubs for the past two months (along with a letter from the employer, etc.) I have not been employed for the past two months, and am currently unemployed. However, I was employed and had the necessary documentation at the time the original I-485 and I-864 were filed.
Would this impact the filing? What should I do? Should we look for a joint sponsor?

Sorry if this is a repeat. I couldn't find a thread on it. My wife and I are completing a citizenship application for her based on her marriage to me (born US citizen).
Some background...
*Married August 2014
*Submitted Initial GC in September 2014
*Received 2 Year GC in March 2015
*Submitted 10 Year GC in January 2017
*Received 10 Year GC in July 2018
So, it is based on the 3 year marriage requirement. In addition to what is required (passports, green cards, tax returns, etc.), what additional supporting documentation did you submit? Bills? Insurance? Etc.? How many months worth?
