  1. Thankfully heard the words from the NVC - Case is complete here......thank god - longest 6 months EVER :)

But I;ve read contradicting threads on what happens next.

CR1 - US Citizen us based. London Embassy.

Now some say NVC schedules interview, some say Embassy will after readiness form submitted.

NVC actually said they'd schedule interview as well when they told me it was complete.

    But which is actually correct.

  2. So 42 days has come and gone.....and no CC

Finally got put through to the supervisor yesterday who explained that the original request for the review on 9th March was missed and never actioned. So the actual request was made on the 31st March!!!!!

They only received the file end of last week and so now it can actually be reviewed - though judging by the incompetence so far, I'm not holding my breath that this will happen any time soon either.

All this is due to them messing up in the first place, and now they've done it again......the journey is painful enough without so called professionals causing extra pain.

For everyone in a supervisor review - make sure you phone up and ask that the file has been requested.

  3. Fully understand your frustrations with the NVC.

We sent our stuff off at the beginning of the year and the scan date was 12th Jan (I think).

We too got a checklist over the phone but for marriage termination evidence. After explaining that the decree absolute is the only thing we get in the UK they agreed to a supervisor review on the 9th March and it could take 42 days.

I've called nearly everyday to see what's happening and yesterday I was told a supervisor still hadn't requested the file - so they escalate - not expedite, but escalate that it still hasn't been picked up.

The annoying part is that this is all because the minion in NVC can't understand legal documents and created a checklist not knowing what a decree absolute looks like.

These people must have 100's a week to go through and surely must know their jobs. Their incompetence has put us back 6 weeks in the bloody process.

All i can think about is moving to Dallas to start our new lives and a simple 30 second look at the files would get a case complete - but we have to wait 42 days.

  4. We were told ours was put into review on January 29th and to call back for an update two weeks later. We've called every week since then and we've been told every single time that there are no supervisors available to speak with us.

    Wow, that really sucks.

We finally got an email from the NVC with the supposed checklist - 2 weeks after i was told on the phone about it.

They really do have no idea what they are doing.

On the phone again as i type this and will ask to speak to a supervisor - hope I won't get dismissed again.

  5. Thanks, I spoke to someone else and they made notes saying this is the official document and they are not signed in the UK but the stamp on the document and wording at the bottom of the certificate saying D37 Decree Absolute shows it's the correct docment.

This has been passed to a supervisor so hopefully they won;t ask us to resend the same document.

I was genuinely beside myself when I heard this today, sat in the office with head in my hands. Thankfully the nice woman says she will take care of it.....just hoping the review takes a few days rather than the 8 weeks I've seen some supervisor reviews take.

    Thanks for the response Nich-nick

  6. So called today on the 61st day and was told it had been reviewed and there was a note to request evidence of marriage termination as the document sent is not allowed.

So checked and we sent the decree absolute from the County Court. and on the website they directed me to it says they are allowed and valid.

So called back (another 90 minutes on the phone) and the nice woman said she would make a note and have a supervisor look at this for me. I explained i would be literally sending the same document as this is all you are issued - unimpressive i know but it's all the UK gets.

Now I'm seeing horror stories of 8 weeks for a supervisor review.....these things happen and I'd be ok if we actually missed something, but all because the person reviewing our case doesn't know their job is beyond annoying.

    Shaking I'm so mad.

  7. Well impatience got the better of me and I called today (54th day). The rather unhappy lady asked for all the details then with a bit of British charm :) she cheered up and told me that as the weather has been so bad they are a a few days behind and to give them a call end of the week and it maybe reviewed by then.

So fingers crossed that by next week we have a CC (not banking on this week)

  8. So, time is ticking away nicely until i move over from the UK to be with my wife in North Dallas (The Colony to be precise).

No CC yet from NVC though 60 days is tomorrow.

But the butterflies are kicking in and thinking about the lack of friends or people to talk to - didn't think it would bother me, though with work commitments in the UK for my wife - having a few friends will make things easier.

Seen a few expat groups in Dallas though I'm not the tea morning kind :) more the few beers down the pub or Top Golf :)

So if there are any other Brits in North Dallas (Frisco/McKinney etc) let me know - be good to hear your experiences etc. I know what's over there as I've been 3-4 times on vacation (how american of me) though just in terms of adjusting etc.

    Thanks

  9. Personally I cannot wait to get over there (obviulsly than to be with my wife) but for the food. The variety available in Dallas is amazing. The stores are amazing. Walmart or Target for the packet stuff, Sprouts for produce. I was blown away when we first went to Sprouts and saw the spray the fresh fruit and veg to keep them damp - OMG - in England it's lucky if it;s kept slightly cool in Tescos.

I know I have a "delicate" system, and traveling to places like the DR where water is bad etc causes me issues even when careful. But I've spent roughly 6 weeks in Dallas and can safely say, not a single issue - other than too much Petron, and loved everything I've eaten - except mac and cheese.

The fact they put fluoride in the water - not bothered. We use a Brita - might not clear out everything, though never seems to hurt the MILLIONS who live there.

We aren't moving to a third world country. If people are that unhappy with US food, then import UK food or find a store that will charge you $10 for a few Yorkshire teabags :)

Bread - I prefer - I've actually tried to find the butter something bread we get over there as I love it - but can't find it anywhere. And if I want "normal" bread. I could make it myself if I was so inclined (which I won't be :) )

All this talk of food is making me hungry now......better get the fish and chips in while i can :)
