  1. Nope, you do not need to submit the petitioner's police certs, criminal record or anything like that. They already have it from the background check on the petitioner during the USCIS process.

My husband is currently in prison and I had my interview back in December. We didn't have to show anything for his record but I was asked why he was in prison, so make sure you as the beneficiary is aware of your husband's criminal record.

HI there, please give me some advice. I have 3 past DUI misdemeanors. I am petitioning for my husband. IR1/CR1. My last and final one was April 2013. Do you think they will ask my husband about this? I really need some solid reassurance. I am so afraid. We have come so far.

    Thank you in advance.

  2. So I'm confused....does it mean that the g324a form dated 2/28/15 on the top is ok to use as of now? By the way, I understand what you mean about checking with USCIS about the forms but I'm confused with the date on the top right hand corner versus the date on the bottom right hand corner. According to what you're saying Dave, you go by the bottom one?

  3. Hello, So I look online because I am always told to make sure I have the latest form before filing for my husband. I just checked and the form for the g325a is still dated with expiration for 2/28/15 and it is now June 2015. My question is, will this old expiration dated form become a problem for me if I use it to file this month?

  4. I was looking at the instructions and went ahead and continued reading about the i864. My father will be joint sponsoring for my husband. Do I have to have his birth certificate? (My dad's) or could a copy of his drivers license work? He's never needed a passport so he doesn't have one of those. I'm just not sure he has a copy of his birth certificate. He is 75 and if he does have one here, We wouldn't know where to begin to look for it. Please advise me. Thank you.

  5. Raven52, well aware that it is a tough embassy. That is why I printed all chats. But I will be thinning it out now that I've received advice from someone who went through that embassy. No, we don't have intermingled accounts but we are in the process of doing that now before we file his petition. Life and car insurance I will make for us here and he is adding me to his bank account there in Nigeria granting they will allow it without me being there.

  6. Thanks guys! Ebunoluwa, thanks especially. So when you say send him all the evidence should it be the thinned out version like what I will send to petition?

Also, yes I have ticket info and tickets, pictures of our wedding and family but no joint accounts. I can do that though, but I wonder if he can add me to his bank account without me being present?

This is some great advice... Thanks so much. I definitely want to get this right.

  7. Hello, I am about to file the i130 for my husband who is from Nigeria. I have printed out over a years worth of our what's app chat and emails and phone calls which all amount to well over 1500 copies total. Will I have to make multiple sets of these copies for different phases in this whole process? For myself or hubby? Will he have to provide all of this at his interview? If so, I need to know before I send it to USCIS.

I have another question also. When my husband and I got married in Nigeria I had to write my married last name on my marriage certificate. Will that mess up anything because I have not changed my name officially yet and all of my documents for example, drivers license, birth certificate, Social Security card all say my maiden name. I am afraid that it will cause a problem. Am I worried for nothing?

Last question, almost 5 years ago when I moved into my old apartment I do not remember the exact date. Will a guesstimation do? Or will I have to have the exact dates?

Thank you so much in advance for any help that you can give on these questions from your knowledge. This site has been so very helpful to me and my husband.

  8. Hello,

I am not sure how to post to the Nigerian page that I follow, because it does not say where I can start a new topic there so hopefully I can get some help here. My husband currently lives at his parents home village that does not have a physical address, it is just known to be his parents village home. His last address DOES have a physical address and it is his parents home as well. He receives all of his mail there. Is it fine that we put his last physical address where his parents currently live? Because it is impossible to put a numbered address for the village home? Thank you.

  9. Hello all,

I need a little more clarification about my marriage certificate. While in Nigeria, we made copies of our marriage certificate. He took the copy and I took the original. My husband insisted that we laminate it so we did. (I don't know if that is relevant or not; just decided to mention that just in case...) When you say I need to send a certified copy of the marriage certificate, that means I can send a copy of my original certified copy right?

  10. I totally am not checking to see if you are correct. I believe you! I just want to know where else on this site and even USCIS I can find more information. Everyone is continuously telling me how everything is on this site, but I feel like I am not pinpointing the right areas to find what I need! Thanks so much Ryan! Any tips and or more advice you can give, I am all ears!!! :)
