  1. NOA1 finally arrived 14 days after I-751 was received by USCIS.

    :)

that's awesome!!! now we're on to waiting for the biometrics appointment letter

    anybody got biometrics yet?

Bio I'm not so concerned about. Unless I'm missing something, they can take their time on that one!? I just wanted to make sure the 751 was accepted and I got my 12 month extension. :)

  2. I'm starting to wish I'd got my I-751 app' prepared and sent off sooner. My I-751 was delivered to the Vermont center April 24th, but the check still hasn't been cashed and I haven't received the first NOA yet. My GC expires a week on Friday, so I'm hoping I don't have to make an emergency appointment at the local service center to get an extention.

Yay! Check just cleared! :star: Now I just need an NOA, but having the check clear is at least reassuring.

  4. Something went wrong with my computer yesterday (an Apple IMac) and all my photos I had in Iphoto have been replaced with a huge gray exclamation mark.............

I just want to be done now with all the paperwork, legalities, keeping track, "evidence", etc. etc. & more etc....

Did you manage to locate your photo's in the end? It sounds link the photo files were either moved or deleted. If you haven't emptied the trash on your desktop you should check there. If you don't think you deleted them, then they may just be somewhere else on your hard disk if they were moved accidently. You should try doing a search for whatever letters your camera assigns to pictures (mine begins imgp....jpg for example), then try to find the photo's you're missing by date.

Good luck, with the photo's and the 751!

  5. I just e-filed my I-131 application for advanced parole, but when I clicked on the 'finish' icon to show the PDF receipt, my browser crashed.

I saw that there was an email address to mail if the pdf didn't open and you wanted to request a copy, but unfortunately I didn't note it down before the browser closed/crashed.

Does anyone have that email address, and know what info I have to send to it?

The reason I want to check that it filed ok is that firstly, if I wait the recommeded time to receive a confirmation by post, it will be too late to re-apply if my e-filing didn't work. And secondly, the e-filing form asks you to write down your reasons for wanting to leave and re-enter on a piece of paper, but didn't apear to tell me what to do with that written information. It seems for the seperate online instructions (which I should have read more thoroughly beforehand, but foolishly assumed the e-filling process would explain everything as I went through it), that I also need to provide two ID photo's. I can't however send any of this additional information to the local service centre without a copy of the e-filing confirmation which I don't yet have. You'd think they'd send a confirmation by email!?

    Thanks.

(I tried calling the national helpline number... anyone whose tried this is probably already laughing. Why do they even bother to set up a help line wich is engineered as far a possible to NOT help you. Once I called enough times to get someone who was willing to speak english, I was finally asked if I had another question, other than the one I was calling about, which I'd like to ask... so, other than what I'm calling you about that you refuse to help me with, is there anything I'd like you to help me with. Crazy!)

  6. Not sure exactly what I'm looking for, but hoped a few of you could give a little advice. I just had my biometrics appointment at the Jacksonville office on Tuesday, and so expect to receive my EAD in the next few months. My AOS application was submitted at the end of Feb, and I'm currently of the understanding that once my AOS is approved and I have my green card, I can leave and re-enter the country at will.

On the 23 June 2007, two very good friends of mine are getting married in the UK. I'm not sure if we'll be able to afford two flights to the UK, or the time off work (for my wife at least), so I did not sent an advanced parole request form at the same time as my AOS (given the additional cost). If I were to apply now, it looks like I might just about recieve the early parole in time for the wedding, but that my green card probably won't arrive for approx another 4-5 months.

Does all this sound about right? I'd love to be able to go to the wedding, but it just doesn't quite seem feasable.

  7. I'm kind of answering my own question here, but thought I'd share the information having managed to sort out my licence renewal eventually.

I did a bit of searching around online after being turned away by the local DMV office, and found this info on the renewal requirements. As they basically seemed to require any official proof of my legal status in the US, I returned to the DMV office the next day, armed with my passport (containing K1 entry visa and expired i-94), my marieage licence, social security card and most recent i-797 (original petition approval). After a long wait at the DMV (and having been told at the front desk that my entry visa and pasport were sufficient after all), I reached the main counter and was told that I didn't have the right documents. I explained what had happened the day before, what I'd read online, and why the combination of entry visa and marriage licence should be enough to demonstrate my legal status. This time after a bit of a group huddle on the part of the DMV workers, two of them went off to make some phone calls. About 20 minutes and four phone calls later they agreed to renew my drivers licence until the expiry date of the entry visa (April '07). Apparently the first three people they spoke to on the phone said no, but the fourth approved it. They took copies of all my doc's other than the 797, and as previously I received a thirty day temporary liceince while my photo licence is sent to Tallahassee to be checked out (I don't know exactly what they do, but it happens every time I renew).

So, seems a bit of knowledge and some persistance, luck, and helpful DMV employees can get it done! Thanks for the advice though!

  8. I just have a quick question about renewing my drivers licence. I normally have to show my passport and I-94, but having moved over to Florida from the UK last November and finally had our wonderful wedding, my I-94 has expired as I'm here on my fiance visa. I've just sent off my I-485 application for adjustment of status and the associated paperwork last week, so I have no confirmation from the USCIS yet.

The local DMV office is telling me that I cannot renew my drivers licence without an I-797 or other official documentation to show my legal status in the US. They weren't interested in seeing the entry visa in my passport. The last i_797 I have is from last July when the original petition was approved.

Anyone come accross this issue? Is there a solution or must I wait until my I-485 has been processed?

  9. Thanks J&C!

    That helps muchly! Cheers!

    Chris.

I did exactly the same thing. Forgot my Uni address. I phoned up Subject Access as the woman in the police station said it would delay my report. They said dont worry about it. Its just a formality to write down the addresses!! There are no addresses listed on it apart from your present one and mine came in 32days.

    Hope that helps

  10. 'nother quick question if you can help me please...

The DS-156K form says it must be sent off together with the police certificate, however the instructions say that the form (DS-156K) should be returned straight away. I only just sent off for the police certificate though. Do I have to wait to send the form back to them or not?

    Thanks.

  11. Related to this, can anyone tell me if the police certificate you receive shows all the addresses you list when you request the certificate. I handed my request form into the local police station yesterday, but then realised that I missed off a temporary address for while I was at University in Wales. If I then list the Wales address on my biographic data immigration form, I'm concerned that the police certificate might show a disparity. Incidently, I have no police history anyway.

    Cheers.

    Chris.

    Hello Everyone

I have recently received my police certificate from the the UK National Identification Service. However, on reading the packet instructions it would appear that the certificate is only available by visiting your local police station and doing it through them. I can't remember exactly how I did it, except that I downloaded a form online.

I've attached a copy of my certificate here. Could someone please confirm whether or not this is the correct certificate? Preferably someone who has had their interview!

    Thanks

    Matt

  12. Just for anyones future reference, we expienced a brief problem having sent our I-129F petition on Monday using the USPS Express Mail service. We asked what the best method was to send something quickly, safely, and with some form of delivery confirmation, and showed them the Texas service centre address (which containes a PO box number). They recommended the Express mail service. When I tried tracking the parcel the next day it showed as delivery attempted, notice left. This had me pretty concerned (they say they'll make two delivery attempts and then will keep the parcel for 5 days before returning it to the sender). We spoke to the local USPS office from which we sent the parcel and they said we should have been told there could be a problem with getting a signature due to the destination being a PO box address. Had we known this when we sent it, we could have ticked a box on the form to say that the parcel could be delivered without the need for a signature. My fiancée explained to me that the parcel may indeed have been delivered to the PO box, but the signature may not be provided until the following day. As it turned out the parcel showed as delivered and signed for at about 5am the following morning. As I hadn't been able to find any reference to this on the forum, I thought I'd mention it in case it helps anyone in the future.

  13. Thanks! So the below would be fine then!?

    Fiancé Letter of Intent

    Crystal Simpson

    *******************

    Appt’ ****

    *********

    Florida, *****

    United States Department of State

    United States Consulate, United Kingdom

    24 Grosvenor Square

    London, W1A 1AE

    United Kingdom

    March 10th 2006

    To Whom It May Concern:

We, Crystal *** ******* and Christopher **** *******, do hereby state that we are legally able and willing to marry one another, and intend to do so within 90 days of Christopher’s entry into the United States using the K-1 Visa.

    Signed,

    Crystal ******* Chris *******

  14. Hi, Please can you clarify this for me. I'm writing a joint letter of intent for myself and my fiance to sign and sent with the I-129F, but it's not clear to me what address should go on it. The FAQ sample shows:

    United States Department of State

United States Consulate, [NAME OF COUNTRY WHERE EMBASSY IS LOCATED]

    [EMBASSY ADDRESS]

However the petition will be going to the Texas service center which is neither a consulate or an embassy (is it?).

    USCIS Texas Service Center

    P.O. Box 850965

    Mesquite, TX 75185-0965

The petition is being sent from Florida.

Here is how I have worded the joint letter so far:

We, Crystal *** ******* and Christopher **** *******, do hereby state that we are legally able and willing to marry one another, and intend to do so within 90 days of Christopher’s entry into the United States using the K-1 Visa.
