    • The medical exam must be administered by one of the physicians on the USCIS list. You can find physicians near you here. Though you do not have too see a physician in your city, just as long as there’re on the USCIS list.

    • Ring around to many offices to gauge prices. This is important. As here is no standard rate set by the government and there can be wide ranges in costs. Applicants naive of the rates can sometimes pay as much as $700. Reasonable prices for the exam and vaccinations are somewhere between $200 and $300. In addition to this rate that is charged for the exam, ask:

What additional charges are there for necessary vaccinations, in addition to the exam?

How long will these take to be processed?

    • Receptionist or operator when you call the physicians’ offices, may not know the name of the USCIS form by name (I-693). Refer to it by the common names of “medical exam for immigration” or “medical exam for the permanent resident application”.

    • If you have a record of vaccinations from your home country, bring a copy of the record to see if the physician will accept them as proof of satisfying the vaccination requirement. Applicants, however may nd up having to be vaccination bacause of the insuffiency of the records. Also the physician should give you an offical USA Immunization record and will update your exisiting vaccines onto this record.

    • Unfortunately most physicians don’t apply insurance coverage to the medical exam. If you are under your spouse’s health insurance plan, you should enquire it can be covered or at least discounted.

    • The physician will inform you, if there is a positive on any of the tests that were administered. Some may not though, just to be safe, ask the physician if everything came out fine. The offical exam results will be sealed in an envelope to be submitted with your application. The USCIS has stated that the physician is under no obligation to provide a copy of the form to you. Most will provide a copy to you anyway.

  1. It means approval. "Card Was Ordered To Be Produced" case status means that the greencard is soon to be in production. This status changes in a couple days to "Card Was Mailed". It is not uncommon at all that a couple doesn't get approved on spot but only a few hours (or days) later.

Ah yes! YouAndMeForever I totally missed that line. Sorry guys did not mean to cause any stress!

    Congratulations and go celebrate!!!

  2. Yes, it means that you got APPROVED, it is time to celebrate! :D

    Congratulations! :energy:

Are you sure YouAndMeForever? I'm understanding that their case is still very much in review. If the USCIS review and approve they will send the GC, but if they don't another interview will be scheduled. In my interview they gave us a pretty clear answer when it was approved.

Please correct me if I'm totally wrong, since I know the nervousness they must be going through.

    Good luck with everything guys!

  3. So I spent most of today filling in forms and have a simple question.

    I am going to file both I-130 packet and I-485 packet but noticed they ask for a few of the same things ;

certified copy of your marriage certificate

copy of the petitioner's and/or intending immigrant's divorce documents

G-325A filled out by the foreign spouse

I guess I just duplicate some things since it is a bureaucracy.

And I have a question about the I-693, does everyone have to do that?

    John

You only need to include 1 marriage certificate with the I-130. Also yes it's 2 X G-325A - One for you and the other for your spouse. Both with passport photos included with them. These are not duplicate items, they will have different information on them

Also yes you have to do the I-693 and get a medical examination.

    Good luck with everything!

  4. Not living together will raise some red flags at the interview marriage. But, as someone said above they judge case by case. So although you guys don't live together you can most still definitely prove you are "bona-fide".

Explaining you situation honestly, but stressing that all you want is to be together will be best. Gather everything and anything to show your "bona-fide" marriage to the interview.

    Good luck with everything!

  5. I want to submit my i485 am in the US did my medical already and it was sealed in an envelop and a copy was given to me should i submit the sealed envelop and the copy given to me and just have a photocopy done for future use.

Just submit the sealed envelope, keep the copy with a duplicate of your whole application. In the unlikely event the postage or the USCIS loses your application, you will already have everything to go.

  6. As many of you can see Im filling out papers and I have more than one question...

    In regards to form I-693

My wife came to the U.S under a k-1 Visa and she got her medical exam in Chile in November.. Do we need to fill out part 1 of Form I-693 and the just send a copy of her vaccines or what do we need to do?

A question similar to yours was answered on an earlier thread. Here's the link:

    Good luck with everything!

  7. I called a CS today and explained to them what I needed and they tols me to come over tomorrow (Thurs.) and she'd fill it out for $25. Now, this is class. She was up on everything and NOT trying to cheat people out of their money. Frankly, I think the USCIS should take the approved doctors and straighten them out and explain that NOT everyone needs to have another physical. To charge upwards of $300 for this service is the leading cause as to why medical care is not within reach of many people and insurance costs so much. These doctors are getting rich on other people's needs. Ridiculous! They need to be reeled in by USCIS and a fee set by them for this service.

OH WOW! I'm very happy to hear what that CS is able to do for you. She is definitely the minority, but it restores my faith that there are still good and honest people out there.

    Good luck with everything friend!

  8. Hi all.....

Once again I appeal to your experience in the matter of filing my wife's AOS form 485.

This is about the medical form 693.

My wife had her physical and her vaccinations at St. Lukes in Manila. We have her DS3025 form with the record of the vaccinations with us.

So...do I need to fill out the 693 form? Do I need to have a Dr. do it? In my part of the country (northern NY state) they're a little hard to come by and since she's not on my insurance yet, it'll be out of pocket costs.

I've read some posts that stated that they didn't have a Dr. do it and they were all right with this when they sent it in.

    Please...guidance??

    Doug and Ana

When did she have her DS3025 done? Her DS3025 should be good for one year and she would not need to take a full medical examination. I have heard people sending in their DS3025 instead of the I-693 and it was okay. But I've also heard vice versa. Ring around some civil surgeons will transfer the DS3025 over to I-693 for a cheaper price than the full medical examination.

    This page may help you:

    http://mrspresson.com/knowledgebase/693-report-medical-examination-vaccination-record-really-required/

As for the people above, I feel your pain. Some civil surgeons really do take advantage of us intending migrants. I unfortunately did not have complete vaccination records. So was charged an exorbitant amount to receive the vaccinations and medical exam. In the price range of $400 upwards.
