  1. Hello everyone, we made the mistake of losing my wife’s green card in a move. We had already applied for the i751 and n400. I’ve heard it’s likely they will do both interviews at the same time so we probably won’t be getting the new green card before we go to the interview.

Can we get to the interview with her drivers license and passport? Do we need to get a new green card?

     Thank you in advance

  2. Hello, my wife and I filed our 751 about a year and a month ago and just filed our 400 about a month ago. We also just moved to a new home and somehow in the move we have lost my wife's expired 2-year greencard.

Today we got a notice in the mail from USCIS that they won't need another round of biometrics for the N-400.

Do we need to get another green card right now or can we wait for the new one from the I-751 to come in? Or is it likely to never come in? What do you all think? Sorry if this is too off topic I can make another topic.

Hi Everyone, Wondering if you can help us (forgive me if this should be posted elsewhere...hard to find). My husband is applying for Citizenship through marriage, and Part 9 on Form N-400 is giving us lots of problems. It is asking for the number of days/trips outside the US in the last 5 years, but he only moved to the US 3 years ago when we got married. Are we supposed to include all the days he lived outside the US before marriage in the "total days outside the US" count, minus the number of days he came to visit me in the US...or?

Did you ever figure out how to represent it correctly?

  4. Hello, I have been going through the guides on the site and found them very useful and truthful! I have one question now, towards the end of the process

K1 Visa - Married in September - did biometrics about a month ago and our interview is next week.

We got the document asking for us to come for our interview and it only lists,

    Passport

This document (the adjustment of status letter)

as needing to be brought to the interview. Our K1 was a pain but we submitted so much Proof of relationship.

On your guide, it says " One of the most critical items requested will be "evidence of the relationship" which proves that your marriage is true and faithful (i.e. photos, joint checking account, joint lease, joint mortgage, and birth certificates of children if any, etc.) "

If it didn't request those documents does that mean they don't want them? We were planning to bring them and I guess we will just in case but I'm just wanting to be sure.

    Thanks!

    Matt

  5. When my fiance goes to her tourist visa interview(she won't be staying in the US just getting married there, we both live in China) I want to know if I can come along with her to the interview to help her as her English is OK but not great and I'd rather translate for her than a random translator that she doesn't know. Is that possible?

    Thanks!

    Matt

  6. Got it, I keep seeing things about strong evidence that you intend to return but I'm not sure what that means, her family is in China and she is just starting her own job tutoring foreigners in Chinese.

But I assume everybody had their families in their home country so that isn't going to be strong enough. I'll write a message on the tourist visa board. Thanks for the info!

  7. I'm American, my fiance is Chinese. I made a promise to my family that I'd get married in the USA. I live in China now as an English teacher and don't plan on coming back in the near future and my fiance doesn't want to become an American citizen.

We just want to have the ceremony with my family in America. we could get legally married in China if that helps. I'm not really sure what the best visa would be for her? Can anyone help?
