  1. I am a nurse by profession, HIV positive and on meds with undetectable viral load and high CD4, however, my employment based petition is for a different job title with annual prevailing wage of $40,000. Now at NVC stage.  Applicants are no longer being tested for HIV.
    (1) So do I need to disclose my HIV status?
    (2) If I disclose, do I become inadmissible in the concept of “public charge” due to high cost of treatment in the US?
    (3) How do I overcome being a public charge in my case?
    (4) If I dont’t disclose my status, will I be held at the port of entry due to bringing medications for a condition not revealed during the medical examination?
And how many bottles of medication can I bring?
I hope someone can help me. I’ve been through a lot. I am very anxious and I don’t want to give up my American dream.

  2. Hi, for k1 applicants in manila, i was reading the doceuments required at st luke's extension clinic, it says:

    B. K VISA APPLICANTS

    D. Letter of Case Number

    Principal Applicant - original & 2 photocopies

    Derivative - 2 photocopies

If Letter of Case Number was received via email, print 3 copies for the principal applicant and 2 copies for each derivative.

However, i do not have the letter of case number. Has anyone been on the same scenario?

  3. Hi, I just need clarification on when to schedule the embassy interview appointment. (This is for US embassy manila). I have read some who says, start the K1 process once getting the MNL case jumber. We got our MNL case number last week and status is still "At NVC". Do we need to wait for the status change to "READY" before we pay and schedule the embassy appointment?

  4. Your petition is probably in Manila right now, or at least it's on the way to Manila.

Don't wait for the U.S. Embassy Manila to send your fiancée their letter telling her she is eligible to schedule an interview and giving her instructions on how to prepare for the interview. That letter can take forever to arrive. Some people never receive it.

Instead, call the NVC today and get your MNL case number. Once you have your MNL case number, you can pay the visa application fee at BPI. The next day you can schedule the interview appointment. Then, you can complete the medical. You can even complete the CFO seminar.

If you wasn't to read the Embassy's letter, you can do so here: http://photos.state.gov/libraries/manila/19452/public/Revised%20K1%20Instruction_rtf2_rtf2_001.pdf
