  1. Hello everybody :)

I'm going to Frankfurt on Thursday for my K1 Visa interview and I was wondering if I should include our marriage licence and ceremony appointment confirmation letter as evidence? (I also have pictures etc.) Or does that not look good cause you already made plans without having the visa? It sounds like pretty good evidence to me haha! What do you guys think?

Thanks, I appreciate the answers :energy:

I don't think it's necessary to take it as they don't require futher evidence at the interview.

All you need is your passport and your appointment confirmation letter. But if you feel more comfortable taking it, then take it.

    Good luck! :-)

  2. what i basically did is i signed up for a short term insurance with a high deductible so its pretty cheap. its only good for a maximum of 6 months and obviously hopefully nothing happens because im sure it would be a hassle to figure it out with them, but it covers until the next enrollment period and then you can just get on the normal insurance plans.

as far as my information goes from today - you can apply for medicaid (not medicare!! thats where i get confused with dave here :) ) after 5 years of being a permanent resident.

the marketplace you can use immediately which gets you the discounts from the affordable care act. i think. and hope :)

obviously you have to meet the requirements for obamacare to receive the benefits.

still not sure what boiler is trying to tell me.

Jakeblades, if you don't mind me asking, what insurance company did you go with for the short term insurance?

  3. 1. The petition can easily be extended by the embassy (I speak from personal experience). You might have to request them to extend it though (depends on the embassy).

    2. Are you asking if the I-134 and the W-2 is sufficient? Maybe. I'd include recent pay stubs too to show your fiance is currently employed as well. If you mean ONLY the W-2s and no I-134, no. Just bring a copy of the I-134 if you have to.

Thanks for your reply. To clear up: I do have letters from his employer and bank as well as the signed Affidavit of Support and 5 pay stubs. I just don't have the complete tax return only the W2 from his employer.

Sorry, if my post wasn't clear enough.

  4. Hello you all! :)
I need some advise. I'm getting ready to send packet 3 to the consulate in Frankfurt in order to schedule an appointment for my interview. I gathered all required documents and had my medical already. The only problem is that the complete tax return for the Affidavit of Support is missing. My fiance sent an envelope containing Form I-134 and supporting documents on May 27. Unfortunately, the envelope is stuck in customs and we can't seem to get it back on track. We tried everything we could but can't do anything but wait. Super frustrating!
My fiance did send another envelope that I have received already. It contains almost the exact same documents except for the original tax return. The original and copies are in the envelope that is missing. He only had copies of the W2 to send to me.

Since our petition expires on August 10, I just wanna go ahead and submit everything now.
Will the W2 along with an explanation be sufficient enough? What should we do?

    Thanks in advance.

  5. I just replied to your previous question in my post about the medical in Frankfurt. Do not wait until they "instruct" you to do the medical - they wont! Once you receive package 3, go ahead and do the medical!

    Thanks Verenaaa!

I just read your post about TB. I can't give you any advise, simply because I have no clue. But I hope everything goes well for you!!

  6. I know. It will add another week or so to the process. But we did the same thing and wanted to make sure to have everything in order, including original signatures from both of us.

Good luck!! Although getting a RFE is a huge bummer it also means they are working on your case and if everything goes well, you will have an approval in just a few weeks :-)

  7. Hello you all!

I'm sure the answer to my question is somewhere in this forum but so far all I've read just confused me even more.
Our K1 petition is currently at the NVC. In order to be prepared, I have been gathering all required documents that I will need for the next step of this process. I found a checklist online from my consulate in Germany. It states to schedule the medical examination as soon as possible to avoid any delays. But when you continue reading it says to wait for a letter from the consulate with further instructions for the medical.

Should I wait until they tell me to schedule an appointment? Or do you think I can go ahead and schedule an appointment without their okay?
From what I've read, others have advised to do the medical ahead of time so that the results will be at the consulate by the time I go in for my interview.

    Thanks for your help!!

  8. Hey guys, so I submitted the K1 visa package roughly a month or two ago, and last week received an RFE regarding intent to marry.

The odd thing is, In my initial package, which I sent to Texas, I included both a letter of intent from me (Petitioner) and a letter of intent written by my fiancee'. Both signed, dated, and included in the package. However, my package, when it was received in Texas, was then sent to California to be handled. Is it possible that my fiancee's letter of intent was misplaced? Lost in transit? Or are they suggesting that the letter was insufficient? I'm just trying to figure out how to properly respond to this. They stated in the RFE that intent to marry includes letters of intent, wedding preparations, etc. But as of this point, we have made no official wedding plans because we have no idea when, or IF, the K1 visa application would be approved. Therefore, all we have to submit in terms of intent to marry, would be these letters.

I sent the original copy of her letter of intent, and I have a scanned copy in my possession now. I was considering to scan another copy of her letter of intent, and mail that in response to the RFE, with a letter stating that the original copy of her letter of intent was included in our first submission. Any other advice?

    Thanks in advance guys.

I'm guessing the letter of intent got lost somewhere along the way.

We received a RFE regarding the same issue. In order to have enough evidence (better safe than sorry), we included NEW letters of intent from both of us, messages in which we talked about the wedding with each other and with people that are in the wedding. Also we haven't made final plans we included an outline of wedding plans. I would suggest to do the same thing. Although they can't expect you to make reservations etc because an approval is not guranteed, write a letter telling them what your ideas of what the wedding will look like are.

The most important thing though is that you both state that you do intent to marry within the 90day period given on the K1 visa.

  9. Hi there,

for those wanting to do their medical at the doc in Frankfurt, the info on their website http://www.internisten-im-westend.de/cms/iiw.php?p=DE,253,20,,1, is OUTDATED.

I called them today, this is new:

    - Fee 215 Eur

    - NO influenza vaccination needed (only through flu season until March 31st)

Hope this helps some of you :)

Verenaaa did you complete the medical already?

If so, did you wait until you were instructed to do so?

Our petition is currently still at the NVC but I want to make sure I get everything done asap so that we don't have to waste our time doing things that could have been done in advance...

  10. We only included one letter of intent to marry written by the petitioner. At the time we sent the initial petition we had a lawyer look over our papers and he didn't mention that it was necessary to include letters from both of us.
No big deal but it added more time to the process that is already taking way longer than expected.
