  1. You will get what I mean by getting into trouble by replying though when you read the e-mail they send.

I wouldnt play the wait game, you can go and get your medical done now. The doctor gave mine only 3 months validity though so good to keep in mind because it has to be relevant when you enter. Also you should apply for a national police check with fingerprints through the vic police, its totally fine doesnt have to be through the feds for victorians (because our system is awesome ;)) At least thats what the police officer said to me.

Also you need a digital US passport photo, that held up my response to the initial e-mail because you need to fill out an online form before they issue the interview date. You can find out where to get these online.

I heard back from Sydney about 3 weeks after the NOA2 and they scheduled the interview for 3 weeks after I submitted the online form. Everyone is different though.

Ok thanks good to know! So pretty much they will just assign me an interview date - and ill show up on that day, no need to confirm? I guess when i receive my packet it will have more info, just need to play the waiting game

  2. Yes It was all good! Automatically went to Sydney!
Im actually in the states right now and I made it through with no problems.

The only suggestion that I make is to not to send a confirmation e-mail to them saying that you can attend the interview. I did this out of courtesy and they CANCELLED THE INTERVIEW! Was able to get it uncancelled though pretty easy. But it was very very stressful.

Omg i did the same thing (wrote Melbourne on my original application) and i had been freaking out about it. Although now that the N02 has come I'm less worried- any news on how this turned out for you?

  3. Cardinal,

I recognise your profile photo from the timeline searches I have been doing, I think we both got our NOA2 around the same time from TSC? You mentioned here that you were able to get your case number in this message. My fiance and I thought we would call up to find out if they had recieved our approved petition yet today because we hadnt heard anything and they told us that it takes 35 DAYS for them to recieve it!!!!!! So just wondering how you managed to get it?????

I am the beneficiary and I live in Queensland. My fiance called the NVC and got our case number earlier today. So I went to the local police station to get my police certificate underway, and the lady said it didn't need to be sent directly to the consulate, and that they would send it to me in 2 weeks. I paid the 50 something dollar fee, and that was that.

Someone on these forums said that QLD requires it to be sent straight to the consulate, is this true?

Also, I did not get fingerprints done, is this required?

I looked at the sydney consulate info and it doesn't say fingerprints are a requirement, it also doesn't say anything about sending the certificate straight to the consulate. In fact, the police certificate link is broken http://canberra.usembassy.gov/consular/policecertificate.html<-- does not work.

    Should I be worried?

    Thanks

  4. Rachkate - that's the ONLY kind of police check there is. Australia nationalized its police check procedures about three years ago. Your home state police department forward the request to the AFP. If I remember correctly, WA folk go directly to the AFP, but every other state go through your local police.

I am speaking from an IR1/CR1 perspective. Perhaps others who are familiar with the K1 can answer this question.

Thanks! So much reading I get soo confused! Ive booked myself in today with the local police station, the people on the phone said to double check with the embassy but Im a little short on time so Im just going to go with this. The TSC was sooo slow approving our I129F and we have already booked our wedding!
