  1. We had the final interview today and everything went well except that the translators had stapled everything together wrong. So they have to redo that part and we send it to them. Once they have it they will do the final stamping of passport etc. I guess my wife will have the visa the end of next week.

We're using assets and there weren't any problems.

The staff were as usual very helpful and the vice consul was incredibly warm and friendly.

  2. couple of quick questions for the record:

did they require the G-325A biographical information forms?

did they ask any residency questions?

if you can, would you post some information on the medical exam. For example where to go for the exam and the fee associated with it. because these vary from place to place, any information you can post will be helpful to other applicants in the planning stages.

btw, congrads, we were also able to get a quick interview date, just 32 days after submitting out I-130

There was no G-325A required. If you are interested I did a post earlier in this forum on the complete Copenhagen requirements. They did ask me what I was doing in Denmark, but as I am also a Danish citizen there were no further problems. My wife is also officially resident in Denmark.

There are four doctors - 2 here in Copenhagen and 2 in Århus. One of them is Rejse & Helbred which is fairly central in town.

The fee is DKK580~$100 for the radiology exam, DKK1350~$230 for the actual exam. Any blod tests and vaccinations are extra.

    Congratulations to you as well.

  3. Just back from the Copenhagen embassy. I filed the I-130 and DS-230 at the same time. No problems as I now had all the paperwork ok.

They were actually able to give us an interview date straight away for the 14th of December :D . Letter will be in the mail. She said they are trying to squeeze people through before the Christmas rush period. Now we just have to make an appointment for the medical and finalize the documentation for the I864.

  4. I think it really depends on the consulate. Here in Copenhagen they actually prefer that you do so as I guess it saves them work.

We were told to bring both parts of DS-230 and the OF-169 with us when filing the I-130. But you really need to verify this with your embassy as it seems like every embassy has different rules. What embassy are you filing at? Maybe someone here has experience there.

  5. I stopped by the Copenhagen embassy Friday to hand in the I-130. Unfortunately the certified Danish translation of our Spanish language marriage certificate wasn't sufficient, but I will stop by again next Friday.

The Copenhagen embassy have really done a great job at simplifying the DCF progress, no doubt to save themselves work. Whats good for them is also good for us. I thought I'd just give a quick update on the requirements here:

They encourage to file the I-130 and the DS230 at the same visit, which I guess saves time. When you file this the only things necessary are:

    • I-130
    • USC Passport and copy of bio page
    • Original and copy of Marriage certificate in Danish or English. If not originally in neither it must be translated to English.
    • DS230 Part I and II as well as OF-169
    • US$190

The petition must be filed personally by the USC on Fridays between 10-11 am. This time had changed so I turned up during the old time-slot.

Note there are no photos necessary at this stage and no G325a necessary.

The waiting time is supposedly 3-5 months, but I have heard that it could be considerably faster.

Concerning the I-864 changes, they are waiting for the new forms and have only just received instructions. I asked about the 5x vs 3x salary/asset figure and she hadn't yet heard about the change to only 3x. She went and found the official instructions. Deciding that we 3x it is. If you are affected by the new rules in anyway you might bring a copy of the press release that was posted here somewhere with you, just in case.

  6. I am a self employed computer consultant and living in Denmark. We were going to do a DCF here in Copenhagen and the only real headache I have is for the I 864.

I last lived in the US in 1999 and except for last year where I was salaried I have been self employed. I am in the process of sending my tax returns for the last few missing years. These do reflect the self employed bit. But is there any thing else that I should do? They told me at the embassy that it would be ok to use my Moms address to begin with. Even though I am not sure of this.

I am bringing my business with me to the US and have just incorporated in Delaware. I will be salaried by my company when I arrive in the US, but I don't know if they will accept that as I am the owner.

Has anyone else tried petitioning while self employed or owning a corporation?
