  1. Hey everyone.

So I know that we all are "patiently" waiting for something to happen and work out, but a little more specific in my situation. What the heck is going on in Algeria? Our case has been "ready" for a ridiculously long time. The Algerian consulate has had our case since the end of July. My fiancé still has not received a letter for an interview. Or at least we thought that's how it was supposed to go. So of course after getting pointers from you all and a close VJ pal, we have been checking the site daily and...nothing...Ok, understanding everyone else in the world is working on their visa too. It is seriously discouraging. One thing is the mail system and wondering did the mail come? Did they actually mail anything? Should I check the mail? Maybe someone else got my mail...and the biggest concern, what's up with interview dates becoming available in this country? Will we see anything this month?

Thanks for listening and as always thank you in advance for your response.

  2. Hey everyone. Thank you all so much for your help. These details help guide us a lot better than just blindly sitting by and waiting for things to happen lol. The embassy's instructions seemed just backwards and clearly judging by what you all are telling us we are allowed to do....they somewhat are. Like I said before, through research we had found out answers that should have eased our minds, but they didn't because it just felt like we were assuming. So thank you for not just saying "oh cmon, don't you read"? lol. So we have taken advice and will continue to do our part as well as use a bit more patience.

I have hope for our journey...inshallah

  3. Hey there all. I am in need of some advice from an experienced individual. Any advice is welcome, but I would like to hear from someone who has dealt with the american embassy in algiers.

Ok, so my fiance and I have been really patient up until this last month...yes last month. Our petition expires in the beginning of October and he still has not recieved information (packet 3) from the embassy on scheduling a medical. We have been following instructions via this site and through research have found ourselves confused. ...From talking to a few people, it seems as though things are being done differently Ok, so what have we done so far to try to expedite this?

    1) Of course called the embassy plenty of times to speak with reps regarding our situation. We are told to just wait...no problem.

    2) Emails. He sent 3. I sent 2. He has recieved emails stating that they will send the necessary information to the right department to resolve our situation...waiting

The email that I recieved was from a rep who says "your fiance case has been recieved at post"??? HUH?...he included medical instructions to download...CONFUSED

    3) After calling, he tried going to the medical offices to see if he can schedule in person and they told him that he needed the packet 3 that they send from the embassy...NOT IN THE MAIL

4)Checked case status online. Result = no status...STILL CONFUSED

5)Finally I have emailed the embassy requesting an extension. (I know I should also send this out in the mail). I included any amount of information regarding our case that they might need. I read that they will do it automatically, but didn't want to take the chance. Thought of the worst possible things like them saying that they tried contacting us and we never touched back...

As calm, supportive and patient as we can be, we are seriously trying our best and tearing our hair out in the process. We don't understand how others are bypassing specific instructions. We feel stupid, lol.

Please advise in whatever way possible. **sorry for the long story**

Thanks in advance for your support. CAT :clock:

  4. Oh ok. Thank you Tbone, now I have a few questions for this oh so simple G325a form...follow the stupid questions :)

So I get the myself and my fiancee will each fill out the forms accurately. But now the current husband/wife box...we are not officially married. Does this apply to us during the k1 process or are we putting our "potential" husband / wife's name so this form can be used at a later date? Also there's a couple of "out of the United states questions...do these only apply to me or will my fiancee put his info as well? Because he is clearly out of the country. Should he ignore this? Ok, we have practiced and are currently still seeking the RIGHT info. Any help is appreciated. I'm also totally fine if you guys decide to just give me a link if it gets repetitive. Thanks again everyone. Enjoy your valentine's day with your love ones either a far via Skype or on the couch. :) thanks!

  5. OK Darnell I am listening. :) believe me I want to go without the lawyer. I am confident now more than before when we first started reading the guides. Now I have gone over all of the forms like you said. My fiancee is confident, but he's nervous to do it without. Of course we're all nervous...but once the packet is done, we'll see. I do have access to a pc/laptop and have been getting all of the info needed. Ok, I have another question. For the letter of intent, should it be handwritten?

Thanks again for all of your help

    It is very much appreciated.

  6. Oh ok. Yes, that pretty much makes a lot of sense. I figured just keep it simple and follow instructions, but you know when you worry so much sometimes one can overdue things.the photo thijg is another thingninwas a bit confused on. I guess I would have to research more because of course my fiancee being from Algeria was just sending me passport headshots that they normally take..and these were too big. Ok, well. This doesnt seem as bad or diificult as I thought. Thatnks to you all for the encouragement I more confident now than when we first read the guides. Im really confident we can do it on our own...my fiancee on the other hand is not so confident, lol....well, with leaving it all in the hands of the officials in his country, lol. This is a pretty great adventure that tests our limits I can say. :)

Thanks again for all your help.

  7. Hey again everyone. Ok, so time was passing and we were still stuck on lawyer or lawyer. I figured that is not the biggest worry so we have chosen to go with a lawyer as long as it felt right. Now I have a few questions for you all of course since some things here and there are so foreign to me and very foreign to my foreign fiancee lol.

Correct me if im wrong...I am going by the guides, and other instruction. For our package. Right now what I will need from my fiancee is his letter of intent, G325 form, passport style photos and police record (if there are any) is that correct? Also, when it comes to the photos, thisnjust means plain expression, white background and certain length from head to shoulders correct? As far as my photo, then I wouldmhave to go and take anothrr passport style photo as well? I would also assume (expect more stupid questions) that earrings or headbands should be avoided...correct? Lastly, thenletter of intent: does it have to be in the form of the example? I thought all of this time that it was supposed to be written more personal like from myself to my fiancee. Ok guys, I have bothered you all enough. Thank you again for you all who have been hepful and encouraging.

We'll speak soon im sure :)

  8. Welcome to the forum !

There are a lot of people here that will support you and yours as your travel the journey. Dont be afraid to ask questions, even if you think its a crazy one. We all have been down this road and still are traveling down it.

The paper work can be intimidating but dont worry, there are answers.

Wishing you the best of luck !

Thanks April/Dan..yea, its pretty straight forward with us. The only thing thats complicated is the decision to choose what we feel will be our best chance. Lawyer or no lawyer. One of us is (somewhat) comfortable to go at it alone (lol, ME) and the other definitely wants the lawyer to have control...but our plan is also to do just likemwhat you said...go over the papers over and over, get another set of eyes and check again before sending. We will send our package in a week and a half (still perfecting it). The thing we are most trying to be thorough about is getting any necessary paperwork to each other by mail NOW in the case that we need it and when we will need it.

Thank you again for your pointers

No matter how repetitive it has been for you all, you have been hepful.

  9. Hi again everyone. Thank you all so much for the warm welcome. And thank you for encouraging us. Yes Darnell, we have gone to the guides read them over and over and now they no longer seem foreign to us. We have taken advice and printed many copies to practice. So, this is where we begin while we collect all info and prep our packages. Next struggle is making our decision...lawyer or no lawyer? Feel free to give me your opinions and reasons for your decision.

    Thanks again,

    CAT

  10. Wow, you guys are fast! Thank you for telling us :) you know its crazy because we have read that a lot....We also understand that lawyers just make sure the paperwork is done....we have to do the rest. I get that part. I guess we are so confused by all these different numbered forms that it makes us nervous. I dont want to miss something because I didnt have that special pair of eyes to correct the situation before it went too far you know? I would rather get it right the first time as opposed to sending an additional form, new form, etc... Anyone else have an opinion on this?

    Thank you again you two

We've got our work cut out for us :/

  11. I know theres a lot of hellos on here, hopefully we wont get lost... ;) well, hello to you all new and old. My fiancé and I will be starting our process in 2 weeks. We are currently gathering as much info as we can as well as seeking a decent lawyer that can guide us (my fiancee) from Algeria (me) in Houston. I'm sure what we may ask may be a bit repetitive so please please bear with us. This is a first for the both of us (first marriage, visa no kids just us) and we have been planning for about 8 months (we have been together for over a year now) .We just went our seperate ways for the second time again and it was so painful but we support eachother and are very strong. I would like to hear some advice, direction or just postive energy from yall. It would be great to hear from you all who had to deal with coming from Algeria as well. I can't wait to start that timeline :)

    Thank you in advance

I know the wealth of knowledge on here is great
