  1. makidesuu: Have you inquired at all since your interview with USCIS as to what is the hold up? I'm getting antsy after 2 weeks, I think if I haven't heard anything after a month I'm biting the bullet and driving to Philly for an Infopass.

in my experience, i got pretty lucky and got my GC less than a week after my interview. but, i have heard a lot of cases that it takes more than 2 weeks to get it. you can try the hotline... but in my experience, they are pretty much worthless. they will say (after waiting for about an hour on hold) that their information is the same as they have in the internet....sheesh.

  2. If you have your Green Card you can work, travel, the lot. EAD and AP are now pointless, as they're just fill ins while you wait for the Green Card. Congrats!

as long as you have the GC, you can work and travel now. the ead and ap are for those who hasn't gotten their gc's yet. you are lucky to get it early. i have to wait a few months after i got my ead and ap before i got my gc.

  3. I am so happy I cannot believe it! We had AOS interview last Tuesday, July18 in Memphis. The immigration officer did not ask any questions about us, just verified information if I filed it correctly. He just requested for a copy of our marriage certificate, birth certification, joint bank account statement and health/life insurance cards. Then we got approved after 10 mins into the interview. Then, I got the welcome letter Saturday, July 22. I said to myself, that was fast! They said my GC will arrive in 3 weeks. Then, when I got back today from work, in my mail.... there is my greencard!!!!! It's not even a week! Thank God for that! Good luck for those still waiting for their GCs and interview.... :D

  4. Let me give you an advice. Think about what you feel about this marriage. If you feel that you wouldn't last for 2 years anyway, don't go thru with it. This is not the old times anymore that once you get your green card, you are off the hook. It is only a conditional green card. Once the two years is up, you have to prove that you are still together and lived together during those times. If not, it will be revoked and you will go back to your country. I sure hope you are not using this situation only to get a green card because your posts are just focusing on that. And don't think of marrying another US citizen right away to save you from that. If this forum detected something fishy already about the situation, what more of the immigration. Just my opinion. Think about this.

Here is more info. We will be married 2 years in July. I came on a tourist visa and was an overstay.

For those of you who already passed judgment on me...the marriage was entered in love, nothing fraudulent.

Thanks for the marriage advice but I would really appreciate it you guys can help me with some of my questions that I had in my original post (fraud, denial, removal, etc)

    Thanks again for reading/helping.

question, if you are already married for two years, how come you are only applying for a change in status now? An also, you said in your original post that you don't have enough documents to support your application? How come? I have only been married for 8 mos and we already have all the documentations that they need. Were you not living together those two years?

  5. best of luck to you... i am getting nervous myself because we are also scheduled for an interview this july 18 on memphis, tn too.

Alright everyone. My AOS interview is in Memphis, TN in just under two weeks (23 June) and I have been currently trying to organize everything I have to take with me into a binder with plastic sleeves. This is what I've done so far.

Everything of real importance for the interview (All NOA's and NOA 2's from k-1 visa to AOS and EAD applications, Both mine and hubbies origional birth certicicates, police checks, marriage cert, etc are all up front) They are all in plastic sleeves and behind every section I have copies of everything easily having access to them

Then I have proof of our marriage section which includes our car insurance, health insurance, letter from our church, building contracts for our new house, bills in hubbies name but having same address, mail sent to me with same address.

Then I have the Marriage section which has some of my wedding gown reciets, our photographer contract still intact, An extra wedding invitation that I had left over, A laminated Thank you card that we gave everyone at the reception, Bridal shower cards, wedding cards.

Then I have a section where it's just stuff me and my hubby have sent eachother and such since we been married. This includes Birthday cards, letters, everyday cards, etc.

Then the Last bit is just Incedental stuff that includes Christmas cards sent to the both of us and other sorts of cards. Mail sent to the both of us. And at the back there is a small photo section I did up. And then we are also taking a wedding scrapbook and a small wedding photo book.

My affidavit of support and taxes are in a small plastic seperate duotang type thing so I can just hand it over in it's entirety with copies.

When it comes to cards and such I just have a few here and there from everything because if I put everyone of them in I'd be taking like 3 full binders, so what I have should suffice should it not? I don't know why i'm so nervous but I'm getting antsy about this silly interview. :) I hope it goes well

i'm just curious... you said you don't have any SSN or driver's license yet. how come you got car insurance and house contract with your name in it... i came here under a work visa and cannot get my name to be included with the loan of our house... that's my concern. the loan of the house is only under my husband's name because they cannot put me on the loan because they said it's gonna be complicated. :(

  6. You will have to renew your passport to travel any where out of the USA, ......I'm sure there will be a way to do that from within the US!!, maybe you should ask in the regional forum for your country, Good Luck

You have to renew your passport... however, you can travel outside the US while waitng for your green card IF you have an advanced parole. That is the only way to do it while you still don't have your green card. You should have applied for it during your green card application.

  7. I just got mine too. Anyway, since you are in the process of getting your green card, you use your advanced parole whenever you travel out of the country. It will serve as your entry permit here in the US. Like for me, I am under H1B visa. The moment they started processing my greencard, I am no longer an H1B but not officially a permanent resident either. So you use the advance parole to show it to the immigration officer every time you enter the US to prove you are still legal to go back here. I guess the reason why they send two copies is that you have extra copy if ever you travel more than once out of the country before your greencard is approved? I'm not sure about that.

  8. I went ahead and scheduled thru infopass in my local office (memphis, tn). When I came there, there was no line at all, I was called about 5 minutes after I arrived and found out that my EAD was approved last Jan. 17, 2006. She cannot give me an interim EAD because of this. She said they just need my biometrics. When she found out that my biometrics schedule is this Monday, she went ahead and squeezed me in the same day so I won't have to come back. After about 10 minutes, they took my biometrics and said to wait for my EAD in about 2-3 weeks. I must say that they are very efficient and quick in that office. I hope to get my EAD as promised!
