  1. Went with my fiance for her interview in Warsaw, Poland today. Approved! Very easy quick interview. Most questions were actually for me as the US citizen petitioner because I live with my fiance in Poland. I provided a job offer to show in serious about reestablishing domicile which made the officer very happy. She was incredibly nice and professional. Took maybe 5 minutes after nearly 3 hours of waiting.

As for when the visa would be ready the officer said they simply don't know but in the past when they've had similar problems it was sorted out in a week or so and then they had to work through the backlog. She said the whole embassy is on red alert to get everything done as soon as possible once the technical problems are fixed. She said if things are dragging and we don't have the visa soon to call and get updates of we'd like. She was very relaxed about the situation and made it sound like the wait would be longer than normal (which is normally 2-5 days for Warsaw) but not that long. I mentioned we wanted to leave in 2 weeks and she said she really can't say if it will be done by then but seemed hopeful.

Anyway we're confirming our wedding plans for September 12 as three months is surely enough time to fix the system and print the damned visa but we'll hold of on booking a flight to her passport and visa are in hand.

It depends on how you send it. If you send it USPS Priorty mail, UPS, DHL, or Fedex you send it to the second address. If you send it via regular mail with a stamp or two, you send it to the first address. It is highly recommended you use USPS Priorty mail or one of the couriers and send it to the second address. THen you have a tracking number and delivery verification.

  3. Hello all,

My K1 petition was just approved for my Polish fiance today. I want us to be fully prepared for the interview process to speed up everything.

So, my question is, once I get a new case number from NVC can I use that to schedule her medical appointment before recieving Packet 3.

It's important to note that the Warsaw embassy is very streamlined in their K1 process. They only do a Packet 3, no Packet 4. Packet 3 just includes a checklist and brochure about stopping domestic violence. Nothing has to be emailed, faxed, or mailed back to them. The interview appointment is set up online through the ustraveldocs website just like a B2 tourist visa.

Ideally we'd like to have the medical done and vaxs taken care of so when we recieve packet 3 we can immediately schedule an interview. At the moment the earliest available K1 interview is on Tuesday, May 5. Like I said, Warsaw is a very fast smooth embassy.

So can this be done? Has it been done? Are there any drawbacks you know of?

    Thanks!!

  4. TSC will send you case to NVC - this takes a few days to a few weeks. They will update the website to say they have done so. After that message, you can call NVC - give it 1-2 weeks for the case number.

Great thanks. Hopefully they send it quickly given how long the approval process took. I thought I saw someone here say NVC told them they're expediting K1 applications due to the long wait at TSC. Hopefully that's true. From what I've been able to tell the Warsaw embassy usually has short waits for the interview so I'd really like to have this wrapped up by the end of June as we have plans to leave Warsaw and do a bit of travel around SOuthern Poland, Czech Rep, and Germany in lieu of a proper honeymoon.

  5. I've been quiet in this thread but just wanted to post that we've been approved. No email yet but it was updated on the website. Approval date of May 1.

We've been lucky in this process as I live with my fiance in Warsaw so the wait hasn't been on our mind much but we were starting to get a bit nervous for our tentative September 12 wedding. Now on to the NVC!

Quick question, what are the next steps I should be taking? Am I supposed to call the NVC next week to try and get a new case number or something?

  6. This winter has been a killer! I'm so hoping to keep my September date though, because Buffalo is sooooo beautiful that time of year.

A Buffalo wedding in September? Me too! I'm Buffalo born and raised. Lived in Korea and Poland the last five years though. Hoping to have a September wedding at the Polish Villa in South Buffalo. Maybe the ceremony outdoors at canalside or Delaware park rose garden. Let's go Buffalo!

  7. Meh, Didn't imagine it would take this long for the process. I would have applied a couple months sooner if I'd have known. My fault for not researching enough.

I'm in a very different situation than most other filers in here I think. I live in Poland with my Polish fiance. I've been denied a renewal of my residency due to some changes in the self employment residency laws. Anyway I appealed the decision and should have a final answer from Polish immigration in another day or two. THis has been an exhausting 6 month process of red tape for my residency. I expect my appeal to be denied after which I'll have 30 days to leave Poland. What I plan on doing is flying to London for a weekend at the end of March with my fiance and them coming back to Poland under a tourist stamp rather than my expired residency. That will give me 90 days here and take my to the end of June.

I have my NOA1 from the end of September so I'm hoping for an NOA2 in April sometime. Add on a month to a month and a half for it to get to the embassy in Warsaw, get an interview (almost no wait here) and a medical and get that visa. So I'm looking at hopefully getting the visa for her just before I have to leave the country. Cutting it close.

Worst case if it takes longer I have back to the US and get a job and my fiance goes and stays with her Parents for a month or so and then joins me soon after. I'd be shocked if we don't have the visa in hand by July/August but then again it is the US government...Thankfully a lot better than many people have to deal with who are apart for the entire process.

  8. Hey all,

My fiance is from Poland and we're debating whether or not to book the wedding after our NOA2 which we expect in April/May (we have an end of Sept. NOA1) or wait until the final visa in hand (probably May/June). Warsaw is one of the easier embassies to go through and you can get an appointment quickly. At the moment they report you can get a K1 interview same week even.

So basically, do you think it would be a bad idea to schedule the wedding after the NOA2 rather than waiting for the final visa? We'd like the wedding at the end of August/early Sept.

  9. Wonderful. So TSC is woefully backlogged and the government decided to shut down processing at an office. Absolute bastards.

Oh well. Seems they're processing petitions with an NOA1 of the beginning of July right now, so I should have another 2.5-3.5 months as long as the delays don't worsen. So hopefully April/May-ish.

Luckily for me there isn't TOO much rush. I live with my fiance in Poland at the moment. I'm a teacher and my school year ends in June and we were hoping to move in July. If it has to get pushed back to August or September it isn't really a huge deal.

  10. Hello everyone. I submitted my K1 petition to the Dallas lockbox as required on the USCIS website for all applications. I was given a NOA1 on September 26, 2014. However it shows my case was sent to the Texas Service Center. The official USCIS website says that the Vermont Service Center serves New York (I'm from Buffalo). Any idea why it has gone to the much slower Texas office and not Vermont?
