  1. Hi Everyone!!

Just wanted to update you all with the good news. We crossed with the K1 visa yesterday afternoon and everything went incredibly smoothly! I put both cats in the same carrier (I bought a big one - which is for dogs to keep it roomy for them.) And we had a trailer attached to his truck full of stuff. When I crossed they had us pull in. I told each guard I had two cats in the car.. they didn't seem to care.. just asked if they were in a carrier. I was dying leaving them in the car while we went inside. Luckily we only waited around 30 minutes and they let us go!

I had no paper work for my cats. They didn't want to see the lists I made of all the stuff I was bringing and it really didn't look like they went through any of our stuff.

The girls didn't even cry at all during the 30 minute car ride from the border. All in all my worries are gone and we are happy in our new home!! :) :)

  2. So I accidentally started filling out the non immigrant one now that I have input my email it will not let me use it correctly. Called the embassy in Toronto twice and they were useless and could do nothing about it. Any thoughts?

You can either sign up on the immigrant one with a new email address. Or there is technical support number you can call somewhere on the site. I did the same thing and the lady I called cancelled the non-immigrant one I created and started an immigrant one since I did not want to change my email address.

  3. Thanks for everyone's responses! I appreciate it. :) Makes me feel a little better for our big day!

I will take some pictures and post them here when they make it across :)

Ms Hogan - So funny about the fish!! I am nervous just taking fish home in the bags! Lol! My fiancé has a big fish tank. It will be interesting when my girls meet his fish lol. Hopefully no issues. :)

Thanks everyone! I will update once we cross and how it went!

  4. You should not bring the scanned or copy of it. I think I read on here someone had a delay in theirs because they handed them the copy of the letter. He should sign and send you a letter with the original wet-ink. I had him sign off 3 or 4 of these for me lol just in case, but they only ask for one - no photo copy. I could be wrong tho.

  5. Hi Jassy.. We're in a similar situation with a Persian that we plan on driving from Ontario to Florida with.. so 22 hours in the car.

From what we've looked into, cats do not require proof of rabies shots, like dogs require. We are planning to get a letter from a Vet stating the cat is healthy as a precaution and also an Rx for Xanax. We've just recently tried one dose on him to get him shaved. He turned into a mellow love kitty and was purrfect at the groomers and stayed that way for the better part of a day, so we're optimistic we can do the same thing for car trip.

Hope that helps! Let us know how it goes. GOOD LUCK and Congrats!

Thanks! I was thinking of getting a vet letter as a precaution as well. I'm so worried! All the guides say it is not needed but I don't want to take the chance of them denying them entry! Good luck with your fur baby!! I hope it goes smoothly! That's a much longer car ride then mine. My cats don't travel well :-(

  6. Hi Pitya. I've read the guides. I've read the Detroit border I've emailed them as well. I'd just like to hear some other peoples experiences as this is going to be a stressful one for me.

If any one has crossed and can tell me how it went for them that would be awesome.

  7. Happy happy morning everyone!

We were just approved today (review coming soon) which means now on to my very last stress until AOS.

Has anyone had any experience bringing cats over. I have two with me in Windsor Ontario and they are the other loves of my life and they must come with me. I've emailed the port of entry and they direct me to the site which states as long as they are healthy they can cross. How do they determine if they look healthy? Both my cats are going to be so scared.:-( Any advice or experiences would be helpful.. Especially by car. I could leave all my stuff behind but not my two babies.

  8. Hi, If you look under Forms Download, under K1 section there is no I864 so that is not needed for your interview. There are too many forms and I was confused as well. Looking back at what I did , I don't believe I had the I864 with me for the interview. Basically I took everything (which included his employment letter that lists his salary; his last tax return ) that were previously submitted with me to the interview along with the few extra for packet 4.

Good luck at your interview. It was a snap .. spent more time stressing and waiting than actually being interviewed.

Thanks tdotca! I think I am just over thinking everything. I have read all of this so many times lol!

One more question - I have the letter from his employer and they also gave us copies of W-2 forms. Is that what they want for his last tax return? The only other thing I have for his taxes are the forms he got from H & R Block for the last 3 years. I am bring those with me too, but not sure exactly what they need. He didn't seem to file anything he received back after his taxes were filed with H&R Block. The H&R documents are pretty detailed and have original signatures. We also have all his bank statements. He makes enough money as per the guidelines.

    Thanks so much! Getting excited!

  9. Good morning!

I think I am just stressing out now that the interview is so close, but for the K1 Interview you only need the I-134 and supporting documents right? You are not required to have I-864 filled out for the interview? You do that when you AOS?? I only have have I-134 and his bank statements, employment letters and tax returns. :S

Freaking out a bit, but everywhere I've read it says K1 only needs I-134 but just noticed Packet 4 in my email says:

    • Affidavit of support (I-134) (for fiancé, employment and DV visas)
    • Evidence of support (I-864, Federal individual income tax return for the most recent tax year)

    Thanks!

  10. I was confused about this too. You have to register here - https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-ca/iv creating a username and password (at least for K-1) and CEAC has to say Ready. I had a lot of trouble with this, but there is a number you can call and she created my account and picked my courier and interview date for me over the phone as I signed up for Non-Immigrant at first. Was very helpful just to call as I was overly excited to get an interview date and my head wasn't on straight.

Once you create an account you can pick your courier. From there, there is a drop down of addresses and locations. This is the location of where your visa will be shipped. You can pick the closest one. I also read once it gets to the location you can email them to have it shipped to your address for another fee.

Closest one to me is London - which is a 2 hour drive. Haven't decided if we'll just pick it up or not yet.

Looks like you are CR-1 so process might be different as they pick your interview date. This was the same location I picked my interview date.

  11. I never received Packet 3 in the mail and I just printed out Packet 4 from my email as my interview letter. I don't think you get Packet 4 in the mail. I received a copy of my I-129F form and Immigrant Rights letter in the mail dated the same time I received Packet 4 by email. You should be just fine with printing the email you received for Packet 4. It says Packet 4 at the very bottom of the email.

  12. For K-1 you get to book it yourself. I was able to find one la month after I received my case number and my papers were sent to the consulate. And there were quite a few options to choose from.

  13. We just ordered the Divorce Certificate from VitalChek. It cost $77.25 US for anyone who may need it. we did pay the $20 extra to have it UPS Air Mailed just in case. It states it only takes 1-2 days for processing, so fingers crossed we should have no problems receiving this before my interview on the 10th!

Thank you for everyone's help! :) Fingers crossed. That was my only concern of all the paperwork we had. Better to be safe.

  14. Hello All!

I have my interview on April 10 and needless to say I am getting nervous.

I have never been married, but my fiance (petitioner) has been married. I have a photocopy of what looks like the court papers of his divorce. We submitted this with the I-129F with no problems.

My questions are will they ask for this? And is the paperwork I have enough or do I need an original certificate with a seal etc? I've never really seen a divorce certificate and I thought his looked odd, but he got this from his ex-wife.

    Thanks for your help! :)

  15. I went to the Toronto office. Really simple and really fast experience for me.

I went on Wednesday and received my medical records to my location in Windsor the next Wednesday (1 week).

They are in the process in moving tho and I'm not sure if that will cause delays. It didn't cause any delays to receive my package by mail. I am very pleased.

I would call as quickly as possible though. I know I called the Vaughn one for a better date and they had nothing before my interview date. I did not call the Scarborough one.

If you do end up going to Toronto, know it's a really easy process.

Now that I have my package I will say I found Lilly (the receptionist) to be extremely rude. Unprofessional by email and while I was waiting listening to her talk to people on the phone was disgusting. I personally thought she was very rude. I had everything prepared but for those with language barriers she talked to them like they were beneath her. I really did not like this.

  16. Thanks for the response BatmanFlow! I appreicate it! I don't really need to bring my laptop (it's small and pink :)). I'd be fine with just my cellphone. So if I pack a bag of snacks and such and my cellphone and charger I should be ok to leave my cellphone there. Is that for sure? If so I might just do that!

  17. Hi Everyone!

We are trying to be as cost friendly as possible and I will be taking the Greyhound/MegaBus from Windsor to Montreal. I would prefer not having to stay in a hotel at all, but wondering where I would be able to leave my cellphone and laptop since we can't bring it into the consulate and I would be going alone?

    Any ideas?!

I am likely to stay the night before in a hotel so I can leave my things there and go in the morning. Does anyone know what time you are likely to leave the consulate after your interview? Before noon?

Thanks so much for ideas and suggestions to save money! :)

  18. Packet 3 is available online. Same day CEAC said ready we sent packet 3 by email. Had no problems. I still haven't received Packet 3 in the mail and the consulate already sent me packet 4 today and I booked my interview today.

Don't wait for it in the mail! :)
