  1. Thank you for the quick replies! Helpful answers, I just want to make sure that NOW i have it right!

    1. Apply for SSN - wait for 2 weeks after being admitted into the U.S.

    2. Apply for marriage license

    3. Get Married

    3. Simultaneously apply for Adjustment of Status, Advanced Parole, and Employment Authorization Document

    4. He will get notified of Biometrics appointment

    5. He gets status adjusted and a green card (or do we also need to apply for a green card?)

    THanks!

We applied for ssn after two days after arrival and everything was fine-- they sent a ss card in a week by post. Maybe it depends on the state.

    Good luck)

  2. My fiancée is worried about the Ukrainian school system not letting her children move during the school year. Does anybody know of any problems that could arise and also offer any solutions if known.

They have no right not to allow you to take your kids whenever you want from Ukrainian school. I was asked where I am taking them and that is all. I was written a kind of application which said that I was taking kids documents and medical card with vaccination paper.

She may be also asked full custody papers or paper from her ex husband or the court that allow her to take kids abroad. Though I was not.

If I were her I would better be worried about schools in the USA. In some states if you don't register kids for school on time you will have to wait till the next year. So you should check this about your state.

  3. Hello-

    Exciting progress!

I am really hoping you can answer a quick question as we are trying to send in our packet 3 on Monday! I am currently visiting my fiancé in Germany, and it has taken some time to get all of the info together, as he was working abroad for the past few months.

On the page 2 of the application checklist.....

it asks for the Document delivery Address: We filled this out online, but we never got a "registration confirmation" for the ustraveldocs site. The form says-

PLEASE INCLUDE A COPY OF YOUR REGISTRATION CONFIRMATION PAGE WITH THE OTHER DOCUMENTS THAT YOU SEND TO THE CONSULATE BEFORE INTERVIEW.

Where did you receive a copy of the registration confirmation?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks- Susan

It is funny but I got this registration confirmation you are talking about a week after my visa was in hand and a month and a half after ds-160 was done. It said:

    Dear Applicant,

Thank you for being a valued U.S. Consular Electronic Application Center (CEAC) customer. Your electronic Visa application has been submitted.

    Name Provided: LLLLLLLL LLLLLLLLLL

    Country/Region of Origin (Nationality): UKRAINE

    Passport Number: AA555555

    Completed On: 10 JULY 2015 17:43:36 EST

    Confirmation #: AA999999999

YOUR CONFIRMATION PAGE IS ATTACHED TO THIS EMAIL IN A PDF FILE!

You must follow the instructions on the confirmation page in order for the U.S. Department of State to continue processing your visa application.

How to print your Confirmation Page:

    1. DOUBLE CLICK on the attached file.

    2. From within Adobe Reader, go to FILE and select PRINT

Please double check to see that you indeed have Adobe Acrobat installed on your system. If you do not have Adobe Acrobat Reader, you may download it for free at: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html

***Important: Please do not reply to this email. This mailbox is not set up to receive email.

    Nobody asked me about it.

I think you should send just a ds-160 confirmation, they need it. Or if you want you can wait and get this some day soon. It is your choice.

  4. I started looking for flights today and see how much they cost.

I was thinking about getting a ONE WAY ticket, since of course I am not going back, but I wanted to know if y'all think that is better to buy a ROUND TRIP one..

    Thanks for your opinions....

It was MUCH cheaper for us to buy a round trip tickets. We just bought a back way ticket for as late date as we could.-- for the 1 st of June 2016.

  5. Hi all,

i'm hoping i don't have anything to do but i thought i'd check as i just received a slightly confusing email.

Basically i'm at the stage where i'm waiting for my interview date (so awaiting packet 4, i think) and i just got an email this morning from DO-NOT-REPLY@state.gov reading as follows (some info redacted):

The file attached is basically the confirmation page from when i submitted the DS-160 form. The text of this document says....

So i'm a little confused as to what i need to do now, my guess is nothing and just wait for the interview letter? I have all the documents ready to go.

This part of the email is what worries me though:

"You must follow the instructions on the confirmation page in order for the U.S. Department of State to continue processing your visa application."

That to me suggests i need to do something for things to continue.

    Anyone reassure me please?

    Thanks

Don't pay much attention on it. It is just the confirmation do ds160 form that you can print it out again if you lose. I got the same email a week after my interview))) lol they are very ,,fast,, as usual))

  6. Hey there everyone! I'm getting ready to send out my K1 visa application tomorrow on August 2nd (my birthday!) I am extremely nervous as most of you can already imagine! My fiancé is located in Bosnia and I'm from Chicago sending my app to the Lewisville, Texas lockbox.

A basic overview of what I included was: cover letter, payment, I-129f and a very long attached statement on how we met, g-1145 for both my fiancé and I (signed) and including passport style photos, my US passport from first to last page, certificate of naturalzation, intent to marry from my fiancé and I (signed), proof of having met in person in the last two years; I'm including my boarding pass for my visit this summer but I don't have any proof of traveling last summer except for the stamps on my passport. Will the lack of proof of travel cause any trouble? I do have a receipt with our names on it from a travel agency stating we went to Istanbul together this summer which I'm sending, proof of on going relationship including over 20 photos of us together, I have a few conversations over the past few months, but they are in Bosnian. I'm going to translate them to English myself but I am concerned about the translation not being notarized, and I also attached a thank you letter simply thanking them for reviewing my application...

I also have the I-134 form completed but I realized its not necessary to send out now but I know some people still do( would it be a better idea to send it now or wait until they ask for it?

Also, my fiancé and I were under the impression that we had to get copies of his police records, proof he has no marriage impediments, and proof he's a Bosnian citizen and send them with the I-129f. So we got all that done ahead of time, translated to English, and then had it notarized it court. We found out that wasn't needed until he gets called to the interview a while from now... Lol. So, we're going to hang on to that until it's time for his interview. But I'm glad we got that done with and its one less thing to worry about!

Can somebody review this info before I send it out, and tell me if I'm missing anything? Thank you! Have a wonderful weekend, everyone. :)

Do you have G-325A forms from both of you? You can also print out itineraries from the flights. Everything else looks ok.

You will need i-134 form at the interview.

  7. I am reading all the information before filling my DS-160 Form, and it says after I file it, I need to pay a fee, I have searched and searched and don't see a number, how much is it? I am filing from Mexico, Thank You very much!

You pay not for ds-160, it is on- line free form. You pay the fee to schedule your interview -- a receipt number will be needed-- and it is for visa at the same time. And yes, it is 265$.

  8. Dear all,

Here I am again.... Haha! So, I am now preparing for my K1 interview and filling up DS160: On security and background information "Do you have documentation to establish that you have received vaccinations in accordance with U.S. law?" I don't have any vaccination record and haven't done my medical yet. Should I say "YES"? since am gonna get it upon medical, right? Thanks a lot!

If for the moment of the interview you will have it you can choose YES.

  9. Hi All,

The interview for my fiance is coming up shortly and im a little confused about the documents. All of the documents coming from me have been scanned and emailed. The documents coming from her are all going to be originals. Are there any documents that I must physically mail to her for her interview? According to the information i've been reading they accept scanned copies but I want to be 100% sure. Her interview is on July 27th so my time is short.

    Best,

    Noah

My interview is on Monday, the 20 th of July. I had the same question and wrote an email to embassy in Kiev. They replied that copies are fine.

  10. Hi All,

My fiance and I recently had our petition approved and we are in the process of getting everything together for the interview. I am in search of a blog that is written in Russian that pertains to K1 applicants from Ukraine. I have found a couple that are for Russia but none for Ukraine. If anyone knows a good blog that I can send to her so she can really read about it I would be very thankful.

    Thanks,

    Noah

This one is not bad. It has lots of useful step by step information for k1 and k2 for Moscow as well as for Kiev.

But I agree-- it is better to ask here, on Visajourney. You can find all the answers from people who came through the whole process.

  11. Hello VisaJourney Family!

I'm not sure if i am writing this in the right place, I had a hard time finding the "Egypt Section" of this website. My fiance finally got his interview date for end of July in Egypt. 12. Hi all, just got our case number yesterday, and when i check it online it say did not return search data?what is this mean? When will it say ready? So i can moving for the next step of our visa journey and set appointment soon. TIA

It means the case is still not in the system. You should wait several days. This happened with us. On the fourth day it showed At the NVC and then in a day In Transit.

  13. does any one know when i can file DS-160 i already got NOA2 and case # from NVC and emailed the consulate didn't hear anything back yet from them can i start filling the online application for DS-160 or do i need to wait for packet 3 and do medical exams then after that will be DS-160 ?? thanks in advance

You can start doing it but not ,,sign,,. Just save it -- all the instructions you can find on the starting page of it. When time is closer to the interview submit it and print out the confirmation page which you will have to take to the interview.

  14. How to breakup USCIS case number.

    Hello Everyone.

My USCIS case number is SRC 15 900 4 XXXX

Following all the descriptions I shouls read :

    SRC = Texas Service Center

    15 = Fiscal Year (10/1/2014 - 09-30/2015)

900 = working days in fiscal year

    4 = Internal use ???

XXXX = case number for that day

Does anyone know why the working day in fiscal year

    is set to 900 ?

Does anyone know where the 4 ( internal use) stands for.

    Thank you all in advance.

  15. Thanks...I just realized that last night lol I was able start the DS-160 for my fiance. I tried to call NVC but they're having issues again and are offline until Monday. I'm assuming case number is also needed to schedule interview??

No. It will be needed to track your case and know the status of your visa on ceac site after the interview:

    https://ceac.state.gov/ceacstattracker/status.aspx

You will need the number of visa payment receipt to schedule the interview. At least it is like that for our country.

  16. You will get a text and email saying that your case was sent to the Department of State.

From there, you have to wait until the US embassy/consulate of the beneficiary's country receives the case, then you will be given a case number that you will need to fill out the DS-160 visa form.

A new case number is given by the NVC and you can get it by calling them like we did. It is needed for medical. Maybe it depends on the country but for DS-160 the petition number is needed but not a case number.

  17. I have just started the K-1 process. My fiance has a 7 year old from a previous marriage. She divorced right after he was born and the child has lived with her his entire life. The ex husband lives out of the country and has only visited his son sporadically. She was never specificallly granted sole custody. My questions are:

    1. Does the father have to agree and sign documentation allowing the immigration or is it her right by default as she has been the sole custodial parent?

    2. What recourse do I have if he chooses to be difficult?

    3. Do we have to do anything as I have read other posts stating that this topic might not even be addressed in the interview?

    Any help is much appreciated!

If her ex husband is in her son's Birth Certificate then yes, she needs notarized document with his signature that he allows his kid to go abroad. If he doesn't agree she has to go to the court and get full custody for the kid. It can take long time-- about 5-6 months in a better case. So it's better that he agrees, it will be faster. Maybe he will want some money for that. You will pay and get the needed papers.

These papers are in the list of required things at the interview.
