  1. Hi,

MY fiancee is a French expatriot in Brazil and the interview is in 2 weeks. She has a French passport but she hasn't received her birth certificate yet from the French Embassy. Would we have to reschedule if she doesn't get it?

Also we are filling out the DS 160 and she is certain she has no social security number from France because she is an expatriot and was too young to get one. Should we leave it blank?

  2. Hello all,

We have our interview in a 1 month and a half. We have everything ready, but just wanted to double check because the financial information that we will present will be not exactly what it asks for.

My mother and I will be both co-sponsoring (she earns more and I am doing a start up business and didn't earn a lot last year)

Are there any issues with these points:

    1. We have Bank of America statements, but they aren't signed by an official. They are sent from customer service and end with "Sincerely, Bank of America"

    2. For some reason Bank of America didn't send me the deposits over the year on the letter, but a stack of statements from the year. Can I present that?

    3. My mother's supervisor gave a letter that has hourly rate and year to date income (January to April). There is no yearly salary, but one could easily get an approximate number with that information.

    4. My mother has another Chase account but she doesn't want to put in that information. Can we just write the information from Bank of America?

If you know information about any of the above points. We have asked for these statements several times, but its hard to get people to follow directions exactly, so I'm hoping we don't have to ask again.

  3. The State.gov site says you need police certificates for countries the beneficiary has lived in for more than 6 months. http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/types/family/fiance-k-1.html#4

    • Police certificates from your present country of residence and all countries where you have lived for six months or more since age 16 (Police certificates are also required for accompanying children age 16 or older)

For my fiancee, it is Brazil and Korea, currently she is in Brazil. Seems difficult to get...especially in Korea which she isn't even there. Any tips?
