  1. Apparently the NVC failed to send through my USC husband's approved petition to the Consulate (Sydney) when they scheduled the interview (3 months ago)

The approved petition needs to be included in the visa package before the consulate can send your visa package back to you.

I have been told by the Consulate that my visa was approved and issued in my passport, but they are waiting on the NVC to send them the petition.

When contacting NVC they couldn't tell me if the request for the petition has been actioned or not - likely they are just sitting on it.

It has been more than 2 weeks since I had my interview and my visa approved and it's absolutely frustrating that the NVC created a bottleneck in the process - I've had to change my flight already a week out, and based on the NVC's inability to tell me anything, I am worried I might have to change it again.

Lesson Learnt: Prior to the interview, check that the consulate has all the paperwork from the NVC - I don't believe they do document completeness checks on the case. Knowing in advance will allow you time to follow up with the NVC and make sure all the requirements are met. Also, if I had known they required a copy of the petition I could have provided it myself as I brought it with me to the interview (I think they need the copy directly from NVC though.)

  2. Got a reply from support-australia@ustraveldocs.com. So that definitely is the right address for the Sydney consulate. Unfortunately they said they're completely booked, so no earlier interview possible :(

I tried this as well and got the same answer. They only conduct visa interviews on Tuesdays (funnily enough this has not changed since 2010 when I went through the K1 visa process).

Oh well, at the very least it's not that far to go!

  3. ^ that acknowledgement email/letter can take NVC up to 30 days to send you, but the the good news is, this doesn't affect the "received on" date. The clock starts ticking on the date which you email the package to NVC.

In the past 2 months, there have been many cases where people who have submitted their docs, have got their case complete in less than 30 days. Hopefully the NVC continues with this turnaround rate.

  4. we got an email from NVC that they received out docs and it will take 60 days for review....I dont get this why do they respond faster to mailed documents vs email? I would think email is better, but hey its goverment...

I think that's a standard letter that everyone gets - the processing times for both post and EP have increased in the last month so you might be pleasantly surprised!

  5. I submitted photos of my husband and I, taken at different locations over a 7 year period (~15 photos with annotations). My NOA2 came after 6 months (but I believe that's standard for Nebraska SC). I also want to disclose that the USCIS has on record that I had applied for a Fiancee visa back in '09 and progressed to the consulate processing stage before abandoning (that in itself may have contributed to the evidence of the bonafide relationship, as I believe photos alone are not sufficient)

I think the evidence you have is more than sufficient - just make sure you organise and index the documentation to make it easier for the USCIS to review. eg. have a cover page with a list of all the evidence you are submitting and also label each page heading with the content. You also don't need to submit EVERYTHING you have - be selective. I believe demonstrating that you and your spouse have maintained a relationship over a sustained period is more effective that submitting say, all phone bills and plane trips within the past 1 year as an example.

  6. Doing spreadsheet must be disheartening when there is such a stack on it waiting for interviews and no ones getting any :(

I think the only one actually on list top ( rgarciasantos ) was a false interview mistake ( http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/543820-scheduling-interview-myself/) . So i think last interview made was from 24th, yes? Wonder what the problem is? Is this normal for them to have lapses in scheduling like this?

I'm just speculating, but I think the sudden increased turnaround in people getting their cc's might point to the NVC focusing their man power on reviewing the cases as opposed to contacting the embassies to schedule an interview - this might explain why there hasn't been any interview dates confirmed across the board.

  7. I received a "checklist" from NVC requesting the police certificate. However, based on people's experiences, it seems it's just a "reminder" to bring the PC when you have the interview - the cover letter of the checklist says you have to send it to the NVC, but the attachment says this:

"Applicants who are required to provide an Australian police certificate should present it at the time of the interview or request that it be sent directly to the Consulate where they apply"

My case is in "case complete" but I going to call the NVC again just to be safe!

  8. What. The. Fudge. :crying:

Why didn't I check the data before sending my documents in via EP? :(

The latest few CC via post are within 30-ish days. :(

    Hi everyone,

just an update from me -

My "scan date" is March 11 for EP.

My husband just called the NVC today and was told our IV/AOS package was CC just today :dancing: (23 days).

However, I will caveat that with the fact that we have not yet received any correspondence about this, and cannot check CEAC because it's currently under maintenance.

The NVC phone consultant might be just telling him that to get my husband off the phone but I sure hope not! Will update once I get solid proof.

    There is HOPE!

  9. Hi everyone, we finally got approved today - I am so relieved - waiting without having any idea has been such a stressful process. We actually mailed letters to our Senators yesterday. We had called numerous times to the USCIS number and spoken to a tier 2 agent but I don't know if that had anything to do with it or whether we really just had to wait for it to be picked up.

    NOA1: 29 July 2014

    NOA2: 2 Feb 2015

    6+ months

Good luck to everyone - hope you receive your approvals soon!

  10. PD 29th July and still no NOA2. I might do what someone else did and ask my USC husband to contact his congressman...

Looking at the August filers thread and seeing all the approvals is disheartening...

PS: contacted USCIS 2 days ago and they said Nebraska is processing petitions from July 16 and that we cannot even make an inquiry until Nebraska has released its next operational report/processing report in a month's time and the date shows it is currently processing petitions beyond our PD.

I think it's safe to assume that these clowns have no idea what's going on. Honest.To. Gawd.

  11. Just called USCIS again and they told me they are working July 16th. Our PD is Aug 6th and he told me that in 30 more business days we will be out of "normal processing time" and we can't do a service request until 30 days from now. So according to them, 7 months is the normal processing time.

Exact same spiel I have received. My I-130 NOA1 priority date is the 29th of July and it was routed to the Nebraska Service Center.

Honestly, this is ridiculous. There is absolutely no transparency in the process - they're quick to process the application fee $$ but everything else is taking painstakingly long.

When I did this process back in 2009 it was much faster (got to NVC interview stage within 3 months of filing the petition - but had to abandon as there was a change in my circumstances and I had to stay in my home country).

  12. Hi everyone,

My USC husband filed the I-130 petition for me (his overseas resident wife) which was routed to the Nebraska Service Center. We have a priority date of July 29th 2014, and a notice date of July 31st 2014.

We have yet to receive our NOA2 and it is fast approaching the 6 month mark (6 month in 3 days).

I have been checking the status of our case religiously-- even when there was an error whereby our case became inaccessible during the USCIS website upgrade.

I just have some questions on when we are able to submit a service request?

We have called the service number and have been informed that even beyond the 5 month estimated processing time, we cannot submit a service request until the NSC are currently processing cases with a priority date which is the same as or later than ours. The rep informed us that NSC are currently processing petitions with the date of July 16.

On VJ however, I recall people mentioning that the service reps at the call center have outdated information and cannot possibly tell what the NSC is currently processing in real time. VJ also indicates that the NSC are already processing I-130's dated July 31st....given that, when will I be able to submit a service request if I do not hear back on my petition?

This process is extremely disheartening a stressful.
