  1. Thanks for your help! To clarify, they asked for the additional translations, passport and more proof of ongoing relationship after the interview. We submitted this in August and then it went to AP. Just yesterday they gave us the 221g that stated they were returning it to USCIS. I am attaching the letter here. Yes, the baby was born in July. In the interview they asked if the baby was his (since we weren't married) and he confirmed, but they didn't ask for DNA or anything...we thought to do this but we initially applied and had expected an interview before he was born. My partner thinks he was denied because he has duel citizenship in Syria (and served in the Syrian army as all men do). If he had a security issue, they would have said that, right? So if it is already being returned, can my congresswoman do anything? I can go to Armenia if I have to, just need to get a passport for the baby.

  2. So my partner received a 221(g) for lack of relationship proof (Armenian embassy). I have read through the other posts and I guess my choices are to contact my congressman or get married and try for a CR-1. I am totally devastated as I just had our baby in July and had been working on setting up our life here in the U.S. I guess my question is what exactly am I asking my congressman to do? Should I get a lawyer? If that doesn't work, do I have to withdraw my K-1 or do I just let it expire? I don't understand how we failed to show that we had a bona fide relationship as we submitted pictures, many pages of chat logs, letter of intent (twice), proof that we traveled together (we lived in the same place so number of times we met isn't an issue) and receipts for financial support. The red flags could be that I am a bit older than him (10 years) and that I am not Armenian so we did not do all of the traditional engagement ceremonies. They didn't ask him about any of that during the interview, so I don't know if it was an issue. As far as he is concerned the interview was fine and was pretty short. They kept his passport and asked for some additional translations. Then they called him today and told him to come get his passport and the 221(g). Any and all advice appreciated.

  3. My fiance had his interview on August 20th (Armenia) and received a 221g for additional documents. They asked him for additional translations and also more proof of an ongoing relationship. He dropped everything off including his passport as requested. At the interview they did not say he was approved, although our proof was strong (lived together until January, had pictures, chats, proof of ongoing financial support and a child together). Now CEAC says administrative processing and there only been one touch on the 18th. Two issues: first, for the Armenian embassy this is a long time to be in AP. Usually this embassy is pretty quick. Second, I asked about the status of the visa and received this response:

    Dear petitioner,

We will contact the applicant as soon as we are able to resume the visa application or if we need any additional documents.

Resume the visa? Has anyone received an email with this language? I am assuming the visa is on hold but they won't give me any more information. Help please!

  4. This may be a stupid question but I can't seem to find the answer via searching. Is ustraveldocs used for every embassy? when I go to the website, it redirects me to the embassy website (Armenia). They don't mail passports there, you have to pick them up. Is this why? Basically I am trying to find status information on our case. I have the CEAC information so maybe it doesn't matter anyway? Thanks for any info in advance!

  5. Hi Everyone,

Thanks in advance for your help! Here is the situation: the K-1 visa for my partner is at the embassy in Armenia. Everything is ready to go but we are waiting for an interview. I got an email from the embassy this morning saying that they will not be doing any K-1 visa interviews until August because, basically, they are too busy to do it. As you can imagine, this is really hard because of the delay in bringing my partner here, but the real issue is that I am pregnant and due in July and REALLY want him to be here (of course). What are our options? I am thinking of the following:

    1. Asking for his application to be moved to a different embassy: I can fly him to China if I have to, but can you request this at the embassy level? Will they grant it if he is an Armenian resident? Will it take longer than waiting in Armenia? Any suggestions on embassies to request? In case you are unfamiliar with the area, he is close to Turkey, Georgia, Russia and Lebanon, but really anywhere is worth it for us!

    2. Asking for an expedition: can this be done at the embassy level? I know my pregnancy is an emergency to me, but I doubt it is an emergency to anyone else.

    3. Involving a Senator? Would this help at all?

Thank you so much for your words of wisdom!

    Rebekah
