  1. Have you checked the document had been given to your fiance?

I am just curious, how come NVC involved to this process after the approved petition sent to the US embassy? As per my knowledge, NVC has nothing to do after they assigned a case number to the applicant. It might be changed now.

The only docs he was given after the interview were abt marital rights in the USA, etc. Basically informative pamphlets.

You are right, NVC is basically hands-off once the embassy has the file, but they are able to monitor the status and see if and when the visa is issued. My embassy doesn't reply much to email so I use the NVC for updates.

    I just don't know what to do/think.

  2. Hi everyone.

My fiancé was approved for his K1 in Islamabad in December.

After that, he was put in a brief AP in January. Most recently, his case creation date on CEAC was updated to a new date in early Feb., and the status was changed from immigrant to nonimmigrant and said ready.

Several days passed, and when I emailed the embassy for an update, I got an email that said:

As per our available record this visa case is under (possible) final processing. Therefore, as soon as the aforesaid process is concluded, we will dispatch applicants passport/visa including visa packet via our approved courier service.

NVC also said everything looks fine and we just needed to wait for the visa.

I checked today and the status is updated to today's date and says "Refused, refer to any instructions/document you got at the interview."

I can't believe my eyes--I am in shock. Then interview was very smooth and we weren't given any instruction other than to wait for the visa. Every time I have inquired in the last 2 months, I've been told everything looks clear.

My heart is in my throat today and I don't know what to do. I called NVC and they said the case still shows as in process on their end. I don't know what to think.

Anyone here experience anything similar? I would really appreciate any support/input, please.

  3. We didn't do the DS-160 until after we got the packet, so don't worry. :)

It sucks but you just have to hang in there. There's zero consistency to the process person to person. I'm sure you will get it soon.

My status is hung up right now, too, so it seems the Embassy may be extra busy lately.

  4. Hi Caffeine_dreams. Okay so we are the same then :-). Just now I checked my status and it's changed into AP from Ready. As they said I have to check again my status after 2 working days,so I did coz today is the 2nd working days, and it really changed. And I dont know until when I have to wait for the result if its ISSUED OR DENIED.. I'm happy at same time worried. Hope yours will change also. Keep praying.:-)

Oh, that's really good!! You'll see issued soon I'm sure! :) think positive -- you'll have good news soon! Please keep me in your prayers. :-D

  5. Thank you Caffeine_dreams..So we are the same now the status is ready, mine been 2 business days now and hope later i will hear good news. I keep praying it will be issued soon. Anyway may I ask is this your first time your status changed into Ready?

    Thanks.:-)

Yes, first time. We were approved at the interview in December, and then fell into AP for a few weeks. Just last week it changed from AP to ready, and the creation date changed to last week, so yes, we are in the same boat. :) I am going on 4 business days now but I pray we all see issued soon! Please do keep us informed! :)

  6. Do I have to wait for the email from embassy or can my fiance go ahead and send the paperwork? They are taking long time to send my fiance the email for packet 3.5. I emailed them already but still nothing happened.

There is definitely no harm in getting the paperwork ready now. I'm pretty sure he has to to wait for them to request it before sending it, though. And honestly, I would wait for them to request it to limit any chances of it getting misplaced in a pile at the embassy if he sends it beforehand. Have him get it ready now so he can send it as soon as packet 3.5 comes. (Will come via email)

Like the other person said, once you have the interview date, he can schedule his medical at an approved location.

For us, we got packet 3.5 the day after the embassy got our paperwork from NVC, and the appointment letter came one solid month after they received the 3.5 paperwork from my fiance.

Hang in there -- you're getting close!

  7. Mine became ISSUED directly after AP. Ready did not show up. Is your passport in the consulate? I guess this is a step that they request for a passport. It takes not too long :)

Thanks for replying, and congrats for getting yours issued! The passport was kept at the embassy after the interview--fell into AP since then, and now, thank God, has turned to Ready. I'm hoping it moves to issued soon! :)

  8. Congratulations! We got our packet 3.5 from the embassy via email the next day, and the interview date a complete month after that.

For other countries, I've seen it take 2-3 weeks for packet 3.5 to come. As I am sure you know by now, every case is different. Perhaps someone here who has experience with London can better advise.

Good luck! Provided everything goes smoothly from here, you're about 50% done! :)

  9. Thanks for your wishes.

I know how bad is a long ap for a couple, in my case is almost ending my relationship, it is so hard.

I dont wish that nobody go through this. It is painful.

Thanks God you are almost out of ap :)

Dont worry if you have to wait a little more until change to issued, the most important thing is that ap end. :)

Thank you :) I'm sorry to hear about the effect it's having on your relationship. How long have you been together? I hope you both are able to find a balance between waiting and anticipation, and come to the successful end of this process!

  10. My experience is opposite, morning calls, they give me the least amount of information, I think only once a lady was nice to tell me your documents were forwarded to someone else, and she said if u dont get a reply to your email. then call us back and we will contact the embassy to get in touch with you, i dont know how true that is but thats the most help I have got. the ladies who answer the calls in the morning, spend a whole two minutes quiet when their checking for information and say your case is still under review at the embassy, I feel like saying what do u mean at the embassy, its like where else is it supposed t be reviewed.ill just keep calling and see if i get a helpful person. i saw your thread, I think your AP is finished for sure and your visa is going to be issued soon.

Yeah, never quite know what to expect with NVC. Either the info ends up being very helpful or not at all. At least it's access to a live person though, as the Embassy doesn't really reply to emails much. I pray you and everyone else here gets some successful progress soon, InshaAllah.

  11. Can you please fill out your timeline so we can get an idea of your journey

have u ever inquired through senator for such a long AP?

can anyone please tell me if they know, whenever I call NVC like I just did today, the lady told me the last date she sees update is november 26, I have had two updates after that date, does NVC not have the current information in their system? or does it update in NVC's system when the embassy updates from their side?

Sarahch, I've come to realize that different people at NVC may have different levels of access. I don't have confirmation, but after having had called many times this past month, I've developed a theory that some of the staff have more clearance, I think. I called once and the guy was able to give me a lot of detail. I called again a week later at night and the guy barely knew what to look at. Maybe try calling again and telling them specifically the updated dates you're referring to. If the person still doesn't know, just try calling again later. I find that morning calls get me the most details. Maybe night staff are newbies, etc? Again, just a theory.

  12. You are almost done, when the creation date changrs that mean they are ready to issued the visa.

Thanks God your ap wasnt long.

Thanks for replying--I really hope so because I feel like all of the time estimates have been wrong so far. But I am very grateful to have made it this far.

I've seen so many of your posts to other people and you are so kind and encouraging! I sincerely hope your process comes to successful completion soon. My best wishes and prayers to you! :)

  13. Hello everyone. Our status was changed from AP (after an approved interview in December) to ready this week, and the creation date was also updated to this week.

CEAC update said to check back in two business days, and I looked again today, two business days later, and no change. (It's like why put two business days if you don't mean two business days, but, I digress.)

My question is how long people have found it takes to change from Ready to Issued?

Thank you very much, and best wishes for everyone here!!

  14. I find that later at night works well. I've gotten through on the 2nd or 3rd try by calling after 9-10 pm EST.

Also, if you're calling during the day, try just redialing over and over. Sounds crazy, but I was able to get through Within 5-10 minutes at 9 AM with back to back redial.

And yes, the northeast has gotten several feet of snow over the last few days, so unfortunately, it's affecting businesses. Hopefully they'll open tomorrow, as it's supposed to be sunny.

  15. My fiance will also be going to Islamabad for interview. How long after the interview did they tell you the AP was cleared? I hope someone else has a better answer about how long the visa will take to get to you. Please keep us updated with what happens next. Best of luck to you :)

Good luck to your Fiancé! :) My fiancé was approved (Alhumdulilah) at his interview and was issued a 221-G 3 weeks *after* the interview. I was shocked. But found out two weeks later that it was cleared and was issued only for a quick background check. Now, the 221-G is thankfully clear, so I'm trying to gauge how much longer it'll take to actually issue the visa...sigh.

Also, to answer your question, the embassy hasn't been in touch at all. I've even emailed 4 times and haven't gotten a response once. All info I have gotten has been from calling the NVC 3 times and holding for an hour each time. Good times! :P

    Good luck for the interview!
