  1. Hi all - we started in London in late September and my wife arrived a few days ago - big sigh of relief!

I understand she should receive her Social Security card within 3 weeks as we requested this on her DS-260. I understand she should get the green card in 5-6 months.

My question is - can she use her visa number for bank account set up etc until she receives her SSN and her green card?

    Thank you all

  2. My wife is going for her interview in the morning.

I have provided a breakdown of my checking, savings accounts in the UK and the US with today's exchange rate for GBP as well as proof of recent purchase and house title.

I did not provide 12 months of statement, just screen shots and recent statements from the banks - is this going to cause an issue or delay?

Thanks. Would hate to fall at the final hurdle! We have enough assets to cover the 3 x 125% Poverty Guideline test.

  3. Another quick one. The guide http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/443127-dcf-london-i-130-for-ir1cr1-spouse-guide/indicates the following and mentions a cover letter:

2.2. Complete the DS-230 Part I & II. Don’t complete Part II past the warning line at the bottom. Mail both of these to the following address:

    Immigrant Visa Unit
    US Embassy
    24 Grosvenor Square
    London W1K 6AH

This is the first I have heard of this - is this old information or have we missed something? We appear to have followed all proceses including completing the D-260 online and the applicant readiness form?

    Thanks.

  4. Thanks once again for such support here!

I am a US citizen sponsoring my British wife in London. We are moving back to the US. We are now just awaiting for my wife's interview.

The way life has turned out, I plan to fly to the US to complete a house purchase and start a new job BEFORE my spouse has her interview. We are renting a place until she gets her visa.

What is the best way to deal with this? We have a UK residence. We will also now have a US residence, and will be using the US employment for the I-864.

Will they care? Will it cause any issues?

    Thanks

  5. Hi all and thanks for input thus far.

I am a US citizen and have petitioned for my wife to get an IR1 visa. We are through the process including medical and awaiting an interview date. All forms and applicant readiness are completed including affidavit of support.

    1. Because of my work situation it looks like I will need to go to the US ahead of my wife. Can/should she attend the interview alone so long as she has all the documents and the means to pay the fees?

    2. Will it be 6 weeks for sure or does it happen earlier in any cases?

    Thank you.

  6. I am a US citizen and we are applying for my wife to get an IR-1 (201-b) visa. Our petition has been approved. We completed the DS-260 online. The medical exam has been scheduled and we are awaiting our interview confirmation letter.

However, we are a bit confused: We have obtained all of the required supporting civil documents. But is is very unclear whether we now need to submit copies of these documents to the NVC, or whether we simply provide them to the IVU at the London embassy when we attend out interview.

So do we just need to take the documents to the interview, or do we need to sumbit them and pay the NVC before an interview will be arranged?

    Many thanks!
