  1. I think there is a mistake here can someone fix it?

Hopeful (Egypt, CR-1) Interviewed 12/30/08 Visa in Hand 01/17/08!!

The interview date cant be right.

I have requested that she update her timeline twice with no response. I put the date of her last interview. I *think* the first one was in '06 but until she tells us we won't know.

But don't you think Dec 2007 is more likely than Dec 2008 since we are now in Jan 2008? ;)

  2. You guys are pretty handy with those photos...almost as good as WoM! :P

I have the perfect photo a home..... will try to post it tonight :(

    But today is my Friday!!!!!

    Mine too! Yay!

 You are still allowed to post here after that ####### you pulled in OT??? :protest::ranting: There really is no reason or rhyme to it all, is there???

    :luv:

  3. Amber, your thread is attracting all the playa hatas ;)

or attention whores, which is it?

Hmmm, which could it be?

I was under the impression that fan clubs were created by the fans. It appears that you have created a fan club for yourself. Interesting.

Maybe you two girls should start your own.

I'm flattered you offered, but no thanks. ;)

  4. Well Sunday 1-13 -08 My husbands mom got a call. They couldn't find the home so they called instead. Another home investigation. They wanted to know if his parents approved of our marriage. And If his mom knew we had a age diffrence. If she knew my name and she told them Cheryl and then she told him that i just traveled back home. The man was shocked. Then he talked to my husband for a while. I'm not getting my hopes up. We all know how Cairo works.

    Good luck...

They asked his mom if she knew about the age difference???? OUCH....We have an age difference...his mom KNOWS Im older..but not by HOW MUCH. (My age isn't anyones concern). His mom knows my name...but not my age..just that Im older. We can only hope and pray we get to skip a home visit...since we are K1..maybe they will figure we will have to deal with AOS interview more....who knows.... but good luck..

Have you met your fiance's Mom?

    Good luck by the way!

I am going to our interview and will meet them then...I've talked to her on the phone...mailed her letters and will meet her this next trip. We just never said how old I was...and she never has asked...she saw my pics and knew I was older.

Wow so you guys have been together for quite some time and you have petitioned to have him come here and you haven't met his parents?

  5. Another thing to consider is: you're in a long distance relationship with your SO who must go through the procedures to come to the US to be with you- didn't you think about that and consider how difficult it will most likely be before you filed your petition? I just don't see how far the complaining is going to get anyone. It always comes back to the same thing that we have no idea why Cairo is slow and we probably will never be able to pinpoint the issues and why AP takes so long. No one here was forced to petition for their SO- it's a choice that we all made and we should be able to handle the consequences. They'll get here eventually.

    Good luck!

  6. A 221g can mean several things. You have to see exactly what is checked off on the paper to know what is happening. Sometimes they request extra documentation, sometimes they inform you of security checks that are being done and in some cases, mostly through Casablanca, they will send the entire petition back to USCIS to be reaffirmed in which case the beneficiary might eventually have a second interview.

What does the 221g say EXACTLY?

  7. Amber, your thread is attracting all the playa hatas ;)

  8. Dont I have the right as a US Citizen to marry whom I choose...and the consequences are mine to take? Who asked if I wanted protected from my own decisions? Isnt their job just to ensure we are eligible for visa...and that we have no security issues? How can anyone decide what is real and what isn't real? To decide what is fraud and what isnt?

But your decision and your marriage don't affect only you and your partner when U.S. immigration is involved. If they did not take measures to prevent fraud, how many people would be using marriage scams to get into the country? I don't know about you, but I don't want some shyster being able to come over here when honest, hard-working people aren't able to get visas because they don't have an eligible visa category and they're not willing to defraud in order to come here.

How do you determine...who is real and who isn't...how do you protect the innocent..maybe its not an upfront issue..but after the visa issue....say...if divorced...they are deported...maybe they will think twice before trying the fraud to begin with?? Knowing that unless they actually make it to become a citizen..they know they are here....to be married...unless they can prove extenuating circumstances...people make it through on fraud...and many innocents are penalized with denials...sowhat is the answer???

I knew this would spar a bit of lively debate...lol...i was bored...

Jenn is absolutely right. The Consulates do their best to try to protect American citizens and petitioners by determining which cases are fraud and which aren't. I cannot imagine how tough their job must be but obviously they have a set of standards, red flags, guidelines, whatever you want to call it to help them figure out if a relationship is real or not. Just because the woman thinks that she is petitioning her true love doesn't mean it's the case- I commend the Consulates for doing their jobs and making the decisions they make. They are not trying to ruin lives.

  9. Well if it would be bad timing for you to be pregnant now then I would think you would take the necessary measures not to become pregnant.

words of wisdom from the worldly sage?:wacko::bonk:

No, I just thought it was common sense, thanks though! :)
